The human voice could be considered the earliest musical instrument. Similar to how no two human bodies are the same, no two voices have the same timbre and sound quality. Humans use the vocal tract to produce sounds such as talking, singing, laughing, sobbing, screaming, shouting, or yelling.
As an instrument, the human speaking voice produces a wide variety of pitches, offers complex tonality, and has percussive capacity. By subtly shifting the pitch or rhythm of words in a sentence, a storyteller can dramatically change the communication and convey multilevel nuances.
A good mastery and health of the voice gives us near perfect mastery of the art of singing.
In our interview with Mr Delvis from @d.a.r.i.o_mzk, we will be getting weekly tips on how to improve our vocal quality.
"Sufficit gratia eius" (His Grace is Enough) was the theme of the Choral Musical Concert organised by the St Martin Choir of the Ss Peter and Paul University Parish, Molyko Buea.
From hymns to spirituals, classical to African traditional songs, they thrilled us with a performance which some called "the Voice of God through the Angels on earth".
Beginning on time, giving the audience the opportunity to make some personal requests, beautiful uniform, song mastery, keenly following the movements and directives of the Music director, getting the Alumni of the choir involved and inviting sister choirs to make short presentations are some of the highlights of the concert.
Truly, as they say, music is food for the soul; as the audience could confirm that they came and left happier than they arrived.
