Larnaca Biennale is excited to officially announce its Open Call for artists, that will run until March 31st 2025 !

Artists from around the world are invited to submit their artworks for the upcoming 4th edition, under the theme 'Along Lines and Traces'.

Conceived by curator Sana López-Abellán, this theme explores the multifaceted ways in which lines and traces shape our understanding of the world and our place within it.

“In this fourth Larnaca Biennale, ‘ along lines and traces’ will form the support upon which we can imagine metaphoric, symbolic, and physical expressions of how we make sense of our world and our placement in it. From how lineages and traditions develop, how stories narrate, how thoughts are constructed, to how we move, how we connect and communicate, and how we create and produce meaning.(….) What if we would imagine our world along lines and traces? "

📅 Open Call Deadline: March 31, 2025

A solo exhibition “Modern Olympic Games” aims to support the tradition of bringing together art, sport and culture and to share the artist's vision of the modern Olympic Games.

Daria Fetisova considers that our main goal in life is to continuously strive to achieve the ideal, which consists of a balance of beauty of mind, soul and body. However, the main resource for this is the will, unfortunately, it, or rather its absence, can lead to the fact that a person is unable to achieve something.

The motto of the Olympic Games is “Citius, Altius, Fortius – Communiter” (latin), meaning “Faster, Higher,Stronger - Together”. The word “together” was added to the original motto “Faster, Higher,Stronger” in 2021. This word is particularly significant because since the time of Ancient Greece, the Olympic Games have united the people, ending all wars and strife. Artistic expression was also an important part of the games. Sculptors, poets, painters and other craftsmen came to the games to demonstrate their work.

A series of canvases representing the different sports of the contemporary Olympic Games with fragments of Cypriot landscapes will be presented by Daria at the exhibition "Modern Olympic Games." Additionally, a series of ceramic sculptures of gymnasts, pencil graphic works, a block of lithographs and lino prints will make up the show.

The exhibition entitled "Supported Structures" is a one-day showcase of sculptural installations created by Anastasia Fainberg Анастасия Колесниченко

Anastasia's practice includes sculpture, installation, and photography, and is centered around a reassessment of the limitations of the material realm. In this project the artist employs material structures, including man-made objects such as bread or pastries and natural objects like flowers, as a nostalgic, melancholic and also recuperative act of reflection about home. Creating sculptures inspired by Alexander Calder's "stabiles" Anastasia uses bread as a foundation to talk about the feelings that connect us with home such as hospitality, comfort, support, warm, freedom, safety, confidence and energy.

The exhibition is complimented by photoprints edition of the exhibited works.

RE:SOURCE is a contemporary art show with a widespread social issue of eco-consciousness. This environmental project connects visitors with the natural world of nowadays, massive pollution of the island, overconsumption and climate change.
The space of the exhibition is divided into three landscapes: nature, human and post-human. 25 artists of different nationalities living in Cyprus experiment with light, design and materials to create an expressive and loud statement.
The works created with materials scavenged from littered landscapes, salvage yards, junk shops or waste collection points speak for the huge environmental effect of the garbage pollution and also represent art of transforming useless objects into aesthetic artworks.
Featuring over 50 items including paintings, sculptures, installations and video-art, this is the first large-scale ecological exhibition in Cyprus to consider the human impact on the environment.
The exhibition's mission is not only to broadcast the problems we are facing today but to encourage us to make a change through our daily habits and implementation of 5R principles: reuse, reduce, refuse, recycle and roots.
Considering the complex relationship with the environment, RE:SOURCE invites you to reflect on the values our life is based on and questions what the future of humanity might look like.
