About Bespoke DJ’s
“Purveyor of deep, infectious, progressive dance grooves and, a feel-good atmosphere.”
That’s how Hayden Baker describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his late mother’s eclectic combination of music Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Stevie Wonder (Motown and Disco), ELO, Fleetwood Mac and OMD (Rock/Progressive rock/electronic), all which became infused with his own love for ‘80’s Soul, Funk and Groove and all genres of dance music, Hayden ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence.
Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, melodic backdrops, and ruminating baselines, all on top of a pronounced hypnotic beat. Hayden plays a distinctive “underground” deep and funky set to work the crowd. He promoted and launched “Nothing Better”, a Sunday all-nighter alongside Richie Fingers and Timmi Magic at Bagley’s Bunker Bar. By the late nineties Hayden played The Ministry of Sound, Cafe de Paris, Heaven, Glastonbury Festival to name but a few and, ended up with a long term residency at Coalesce (voted best underground club by MixMag). Hayden has worked within hospitality, as both licensee and promoter throughout his career and has promoted highly successful events all over London notably, Clapham 1998-2006 where he had a residency at Oblivion (now known as Gigulum), The White House as well as launching a highly successful Sunday night called “late for work” at Inigo where he played alongside Terry Francis, Alex P and Brandon Block. Hayden was also the warm up and interval DJ at Calling Festival 2014, Clapham Common, headlined by Stevie Wonder and Aerosmith.
Hayden’s recent career highlights include deep underground house nights Drop, Crux and Muak at Rhythm Factory where he has played alongside Fish go Deep, Spirit Chaser (Richard Earnshaw and Mark Bamford) Audio Wh**es and Fred Everything. He now resides in Larnaca, Cyprus where he has played at Amos Beach bar, Havana Beach bar, Rum Tree, Verochino and most recently, Soul Space.
Although he loves playing in clubs, Hayden’s love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a successful Director and founder of Bespoke DJ’s London/Cyprus, a boutique DJ service for weddings, corporate events and, private parties, Hayden has found plenty of ways to express himself musically.
“For me, music is what feelings sound like. It’s the strongest form of magic. Nothing makes me happier than the instant gratification of creating that magic regardless of genre, tempo or release date.”
