Leanne and Andy chose a villa wedding and not only do they compliment my ceremony but it shows how having a wedding planner can provide so much more, but also can make your day stress free. I’ve been meaning to write a post for… about a year now!!! I’ve had quite a few messages from people asking for more details. Our 1st Wedding anniversary is this Saturday, so here goes…
After deciding we’d like to get married in Ayia Napa (or near abouts) due to our first holiday together being there, we started to do a bit of research. We have two small children and had been together for over a decade, so were looking for somewhere family friendly. We had looked at a few hotels, but the restrictions didn’t sit right with us. The idea of a villa came from watching an episode of ‘Sun, Sea, and Brides to be’ funnily enough. I’d never considered a villa before, but it became more and more apparent that it was the perfect solution for us: a personalised wedding, with somewhere safe for the children to be (and would mean our friends wouldn’t need to leave early/put kids to bed etc).
I put a post out on this group, and the lovely Beth Christou responded (Book My Wedding In Cyprus). She suggested a few villas - even visited some and filmed them for me - and we eventually fell in love with Bay View villa in Protarus. Due to having a young family, and funding the wedding ourselves, we didn’t have the biggest of budgets, but Beth was so understanding and worked amazingly with what we did have. We went for the gold package, which included a videographer, but there was a few options to suit different budgets. We didn’t have a huge amount of decoration… but we didn’t feel it was needed with such a beautiful backdrop.
I specifically remember, Jackie Perry, our wonderful celebrant, commenting on how relaxed I was before the ceremony. That was down to Beth - her professionalism, combined with her transparency and lovely nature, meant we enjoyed the whole process. I can honestly say we never felt stressed. We were in such good hands. We look back, fondly, on our wedding day. Our guests still talk about how it was the best wedding they’ve been to. And the crazy thing is, we spent 20 days in Cyprus (wedding, honeymoon hotel, all inclusive 10 day family holiday) for the same sort of money people would easily spend on one day in the UK.
Having our wedding at Bay View meant that we could play our own music (which was really important after we’d spent about 5 years planning several playlists!), provide our own drinks (Beth set up a bar and waiters so you wouldn’t know the difference) and aperitifs (a family recipe), start and end the day when we wanted… the flexibility was endless really. She also hired in a nanny, who helped entertain the 15 children (although
Beth and her team also helped here - they were brilliant; such a team effort). Near the end of the evening, once the children were snuggled up watching a film/sleeping in one of the spare beds, we all got to jump in the pool! It was great fun!
Jackie, of Cyprus Vows, was wonderful. She was like talking to a friend. She spent a lot of time emailing us individually, then putting our responses into a beautiful piece of writing. She told our story beautifully. She is a brilliant celebrant.
We decided against leaving the villa for our husband and wife photos… we wanted to stay with our guests and enjoy the music! But the option was there to go to the beach etc.........It may not be for everyone, but it was perfect for us.
