Interplan rolls up its sleeves: Working together for a fair and sustainable future 💪
We are proud to reflect on the success of our Social November activities! This annual initiative once again brought together employees from across Germany to actively contribute to social projects.
During Social November, all employees have the opportunity to dedicate their working hours to social and charitable projects. This year, we supported Hanseatic Help in Hamburg, the Münchner Tafel, and the Weihnachtswerkstatt (Christmas Workshop) in Berlin. In addition, we organised packing events for the Johanniter Christmas Truck in Munich and for Hanseatic Help in Hamburg. Details of our tree-planting day, held in partnership with Bergwaldprojekt e.V., have already been shared.
Marleen Herzlieb, CSR Manager at Interplan, underscores the importance of this initiative:
“Our corporate volunteering programme is a vital part of our identity and demonstrates how we, as a company, take responsibility and make a positive impact together with our employees. It’s fantastic to see so many people getting involved, and we look forward to supporting even more meaningful projects and activities next year.”
Social November is part of Interplan's comprehensive CSR framework, guided by our corporate values and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This framework provides a clear direction and is deeply embedded in all our processes. Growing the future 🌳
What started with our Project Management Days in January 24 has now been put into action with a lot of enthusiasm. As a reminder: 5 trees are planted for every innovation idea from our Worskshop.
Five dedicated #congressheroes took part in a big tree planting campaign together with Bergwaldprojekt e.V. It was a great day and another personal growing experience for our team:
"When you plant 3,200 beech trees in one day with about 100 volunteers, it's hard work!“ Karin Seidel recounts.
In teams of two, a planting hoe was used to dig holes along marked lines between the spruces and a 2-3 year old beech was planted every metre.
80-90% of these small beech trees survive the first year and then the strongest plants take over.
In addition to the planting, the team learned a lot of interesting facts, such as that beech trees can store up to 120 litres of water in the soil,
compared to spruce, which can only store 30 litres. Spruces are therefore more susceptible to prolonged high temperatures. In addition, water-storing beech trees help to cope better with increased flooding. Healthy mixed forests are an effective way of dealing with climate change.
Our team really enjoyed the day in the forest. There is no question that we will definitely continue to support such important and forward-looking projects!

Unbeatable together: Teamwork at its best!
Together with CCL Congress Center Leipzig, we celebrate the IAPCO Collaboration Award 2024 for outstanding cooperation in event organisation.
With the Visceral Medicine 2024 Congress and the 76th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Urology last September, the teams from Interplan AG and the CCL impressively demonstrated their mastery. The two major congresses were held back-to-back in Leipzig with great success. The tight schedule meant that both events had to be planned and organised together from the outset. In addition to perfect logistics, synergy effects had to be exploited to the full. Both teams succeeded brilliantly! Together with the organising professional associations, two interlocking concepts were realised.
It was the people behind the scenes who made the difference. Concentrated expertise and experience in congress management, great trust, mutual appreciation and a shared understanding of quality are the foundations of this success. A big thank you and chapeau to Birgit Straube, Michaela Heinke, Tanja Langmesser, Nadine Eder and all the great colleagues who put their heart and soul into this success!
The award was accepted at the IBTM in Barcelona by Ronald Kötteritzsch, Director Marketing Messe Leipzig & CCL, and Christine Hense, Director People & Operations at Interplan AG.
We would like to thank the IAPCO for recognising our work and for the appreciation that motivates us to continue to perform at our best.

"Tomorrow Starts Today" has been the overall theme of this year’s ICCA Congress and a record number of delegates from all over the world gathered last week in Abu Dhabi.
Once again we had the opportunity to learn from colleagues about the latest global trends and reflected on current challenges in the event industry.
The energy on-site was fabulous. We were right in the thick of it and had fantastic conversations with colleagues from all over the world.
A big thank you to ICCA for creating this platform, the host destination Abu Dhabi and all involved behind the scenes to bring our community together.
We look forward to seeing you again next year in Porto!

Organising a congress is a bit like Christmas.
First, you meticulously prepare, plan, and organise, filled with anticipation and excitement, and then, in the blink of an eye, it's all over. Yet, afterwards, you're still left with the wonderful moments and the joy of gathering with friends and family. The main theme of the #DOG2024 was “International Cooperation, Partnerships, and Networks”. At its heart was the spirit of "togetherness" – exchanging ideas across borders and barriers. And just like that, a successful congress has come to a close, and we’re already looking forward to next year.🏃♂️
5 October is German Food Bank Day - known as "Tafel-Tag" 🥕🥖
970 food banks throughout Germany and their roughly 6,000 mostly volunteer helpers have one mission: They are rescuing food and helping people affected by poverty.
Those in need receive fresh food every week at one of the 2,000 distribution points. This is an important and really helpful support that not only eases the tight household budget, but also makes the meal plan more varied, colourful and therefore healthier.
This is a commitment that we find extremely important and we have supported the local food banks at our locations for several years with our Christmas donation campaign.
The #congressheroes are also happy to lend a hand themselves! Volunteering at the food banks is once again on the agenda as part of ‘Social November’ this year.
We are looking forward to reporting on these and other activities!
