🇨🇳 CONGEE BRUNCH 🇰🇷

In collaboration with Sissi , we're super excited to host Congee Brunch this Saturday!

What’s included in the ticket:
* 1 bowl of Chinese congee (粥 zhōu) which is traditionally plain rice congee with various toppings. You'll have the chance to try some original Chinese toppings like pork floss, century egg, pickled Chinese veggies or fermented bean curd, that are very traditionally common served with congee. It's vegan friendly, if you ommit any animal ingredients.
* 1 bowl of Korean congee (죽 jook): Traditional vegan rice porridge made with typical Korean seaweed in the broth and cooked with various vegetables.
* Warm Korean & Chinese tea
* Refreshing kombucha by

We consume food using various senses. We eat with our eyes first, then comes nose, and only after that mouth. That’s why food aesthetics creates positive emotions and memories related to the joy and satisfaction, which is so important for a healthy relationship with food.

Wondering what to cook together with your friends or colleagues? Gimpab can be your answer. As ‘gim’ stands for the seaweed and ‘bap’ refers to the 🍚, Gimbap is a Korean seaweed rice roll. The usual fillings are carrots, eggs, spinach or cucumber, and danmuji (pickled daikon); other fillings are only limited by one’s imagination: you can add tuna, surimi, avocado or shrimp.

What is a perfect meal when you crave comfort food but don’t want to miss on five vegetables per day? Yes, exactly, veggie fritters! You can use any vegetables you like, the concept is always the same:

Grate the vegetables, strain excess liquid, then add egg, flour, salt, pepper and spices to your own taste and… start frying on a well heated pan :)

Let's talk about how to keep the freshness of ingredients. Blanching is one of the techniques that can be used to maintain the color and texture.

What is blanching actually? It is putting the vegetables (or anything else) that were just boiled into an ice bath to stop the cooking process. This is a great way to cook broccoli and green beans, which you should boil for 1 and 4 minutes respectively before.

If you ever wondered how to remove skins from almonds or peaches, blanching is also your go-to technique!

(Fried millet recipe below!) Grains, especially whole grains, are a great source of carbohydrates. They ensure steady energy levels and give a long-lasting feeling of satiety. However, some find including grains into their nutrition “boring”… Here’s a recipe how to make grains “fun”:

1. Cook millet as per instructions on packaging.
2. Dice onions, carrots and celery. Heat up a pan with a bit of oil and stir fry diced vegetables.
3. Add the cooked millet along with salt and pepper to the pan. Stir fry for 3-4 min. Top with sliced scallions.

By the way, did you know that technically millet is a seed!

🌟Menus for the next two weeks🌟 Write a message to order!

Chef’s Choice meal prep menus are delivered weekly on two days: Mondays and Wednesdays. By Saturday you can order the Monday menu, and by Monday - the Wednesday menu.

Monday menus are created especially for the clients who prefer or require gluten and lactose free nutrition. On both days we, of course, offer vegetarian options.

In case you have any other special requests, do let us know about them and we’ll happily do our best to accommodate.

Even though the intense heat wave is behind us, temperature outside stays pretty high. Here are 3 tips how to support your body on hot summer days:

1. Of course, drink plenty of liquids. Water, green tea, and also chrysanthemum and dandelion root tea will help your body bear the heat.

2. Eat "cool" foods. According to TCM, these veggies would be your best choice: cucumbers, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, zucchini, broccoli. These fruit will keep you refreshed, too: watermelon, apple, pineapple, pears, strawberry and kiwis. It's better to avoid any hot, spicy, or very oily dished.

3. Eating in small portions would make it easier for your body to digest. If you’re in a mood for a heavy meal, eat it in the afternoon, and end your day with some fruit.

Born out of pandemic, the challenges have been real but the joys of cooking & serving our clients have been greater. One year, 152 clients, 2880+ meals and LOTS of kimchi later, I’m so grateful for your continued trust.
