As we spend most of our time at home we are delighted with DIEDE’s long and energetic SALON podcast. The founder of Nachtwerk. based in Amersfoort, is rapidly building his way as an artist. His talent is not only recognized in the Netherlands as he played his first international gig in 2019 in Seoul’s infamous club Faust.

Besides his development as a musician, he also puts a lot of time into training his spirit through meditation which is noticeable in the way he selects his tracks and constructs his sets. This well-sorted balance makes the podcast very comfortable for the mind and body.

One year ago I got the chance to hit the sweet spot at the infamous club Faust in Seoul, South Korea. A 2,5 hour set that, by the time, felt like 30 minutes. My first ever international gig and, without knowing at the time, this gig would be one of my last serious gigs before the whole world would shut down everything from clubs, festivals and bars to shopping streets, schools and gyms. In this past year I've made some serious improvements when it comes to mixing, track selection and style development, this all is due to a lot of practice, and a lot of digging deep. I'm looking back at this set from a point of view where I find myself to become more and more serious, dedicated and motivated to try and make a living out of this in the end.
For now enjoy this set, and let us all pray for better days to come when it comes to partying, travelling and social contact. ;)

Big thanks again to the Faust crew for this great opportunity and making me feel so comfortable and at home from the minute I walked in. Fingers crossed that we‘ll be able to see eachother again soon. 🖤

I uploaded this very set exactly 1 year ago. From that moment I have focused only on the hypnotic side of electronic music. Got rid of lounge and terrace gigs, didnt buy anymore disco records, didnt dig deep into housemusic, you name it.

From this point on things went uphill quite fast, did some pretty cool gigs the months after that. With two of the absolute highlights being: playing my first gig outside of NL in the infamous South Korean club Faust and becoming one of the talents who got the chance to rock the Solor stage at Soenda indoor 2020, and then.. Covid hit us like a bomb.

No more parties, no more sweaty clubnights, no more festivals, no more losing your phone, wallet and keys somewhere and finding them in the exact same spot where you left them 3 hours ago, no more meeting new people and being best friends for a night, no more togetherness at all.

This all lead to an interesting new way of working: online. Over the past year I did quite some livestreams and podcasts. For example the livestreams at DRLD, Quarantaine and Nachtwerk., but also podcasts for platforms like Spoken and Het Complot. I‘m massively grateful for the fact that I am still able to work my magic for others, even though it might not be a sweaty basement rave, or in a club with a sublime soundsystem, I‘m still thankful for the chances I‘ve had in the past year, and the new things that are about to come up.

More about those soon, for now do yourself some good with this set and enjoy the weekend! Stay healthy 🌱❤️

1 month sober today!!
No alcohol nor drugs in my body since the 28th of september. I have used this period to get myself back into shape, do a lot of yoga, eat healthy, sleep good, dive deeper into music, learn a new language, read books and work on big plans for the future.
I haven‘t felt (and looked, lol) so good in a pretty long time, so it’s something i definitely recommend to all of you if you‘re not doing this every now and then already. I‘ll keep on doing this for longer than just this one month as i can really see this helping me to feel more comfortable in my body and soul, and to get a lot of s**t done aswel. Let‘s see what the future will bring!

My personal note to all of you:
Take care of yourselves in these crazy coronatimes, eat and drink healthy, do sports, see your friends and family a lot even though it might just be on facetime, or maybe from a distance, read informative books, take cold showers, listen and/or make music and most of all: be happy about yourself even though these are not the brightest times.

Berden invited me over to record an episode for his podcast.
1 hour full of dynamic bangers, wanted to try out something new, some records I would normally not combine in a set. Turns out to do the job pretty good ⛽️

Alte große Fabrikhallen, skurrile bunte Holzhäuser und riesige Freiluft-Bereiche, in denen im Sommer bis zum Sonnenaufgang getanzt werden kann: Das ist, was wir an der Berliner Clubszene so lieben und was sie - und damit Berlin - so einzigartig macht.
So bunt und verschieden die Clubs in Berlin sind, sie haben eines gemeinsam: Vielen droht die Schließung - sei es für den Bau einer neuen Autobahn, aufgrund steigender Mieten oder „Eigenbedarf”. Die Berliner Clubszene ist am Aussterben: Mit der angekündigten Schließung unseres Neuköllner Kulturstandorts Griessmühle, spitzt sich das Unheil zu.
Der aktuelle Mietvertrag endet am 31.01.2020 und wird vom Eigentümer des Geländes (die SIAG Property II GmbH) nicht weiter verlängert. Wenn wir jetzt nicht handeln, verschwindet damit noch ein weiteres Stück Berliner Club-Kultur!
Alle unsere Gesprächsversuche die S IMMO Germany GmbH (zuständiger Verwalter) oder die SIAG an einen Tisch zu bekommen sind bisher gescheitert. Der über acht Jahre aufgebaute Kulturstandort muss somit neuen Gewerbeeinheiten weichen. Weiterhin versuchen wir gemeinsam mit dem Bezirk, der Wirtschaftsförderung, der Clubcommission und dem Kultursenator die Eigentümer zu einem Gespräch zu bewegen, denn auch uns kann man auf Augenhöhe begegnen. Wir sind nicht nur ein Club: Mit Ping-Pong Abenden, Kinonächten und Trödelmärkten, geht ein Kiez-Treff für den Bezirk und die Menschen hier in Berlin-Neukölln verloren.
Daher lauten unsere konkreten Forderungen an die SIAG Property II GmbH und die S IMMO Germany GmbH:
Kontaktaufnahme und Kommunikation auf Augenhöhe zwischen Eigentümer und uns
Transparentes und faires Verkaufsverfahren – Berücksichtigung unserer Investoren
Verlängerung des Mietvertrags bis Baustart, bzw. bis es eine Alternative gibt
Vor vier Jahren kaufte die SIAG Property II GmbH das Grundstück Sonnenallee 221, um das Gelände neu zu entwickeln. Anschließend folgten befristete Mietverträge im Abstand von sechs Monaten. Anfang November 2019 wurde die Baugenehmigung für das Grundstück erteilt. Der aktuelle Eigentümer möchte das Gelände nun zügig weiterverkaufen. Ein neuer Eigentümer ist bisher noch nicht bekannt, sodass es auch keine Möglichkeit gibt, einen Verbleib zu verhandeln. Mehrere Investoren, die uns einen Weiterbetrieb für die nächsten sieben bis zehn Jahre zusichern würden, haben sich bereits im September 2019 an die S IMMO gewandt, wurden bisher jedoch nicht berücksichtigt.
Mit der drohenden Verdrängung durch Neubauten sind wir nicht alleine. Auch andere Kulturstandorte Berlins müssen derzeit dagegen ankämpfen. Dieser Umstand lässt sich auf den fehlenden Schutz zurückführen, den Clubs eigentlich erhalten müssten. Denn sie sind weit mehr als nur Orte zum Feiern. Daher lauten unsere konkreten Forderungen an die Politik zusätzlich:
Bestandsschutz bestehender Clubs und Berücksichtigung von Clubstandorten in Bebauungsplänen bis 2030
Anerkennung der Clubs als Kulturstätten
langfristige innerstädtische Alternativen für bedrohte Standorte

Old large factory buildings, quirky colorful wooden houses and huge open-air areas where you can dance until sunrise in summer: that's what we love about the Berlin club scene and what makes it - and therefore Berlin - so unique.
As colorful and different as the clubs in Berlin are, they have one thing in common: Many are threatened with closure - be it for the construction of a new motorway, due to rising rents or "personal needs". The Berlin club scene is on the verge of extinction: With the announced closure of our Neukölln cultural location Griessmühle, the disaster is coming to a head.
The current lease ends on January 31, 2020 and will not be extended by the owner of the site (SIAG Property II GmbH). If we don't act now, another piece of Berlin club culture will disappear!
So far, all of our attempts to get S IMMO Germany GmbH (responsible administrator) or SIAG at one table have failed. The cultural location, which was built over eight years, must therefore give way to new commercial units. Furthermore, we try to get the owners to talk to the district, the business development agency, the club commission and the cultural senator, because we can also be met at eye level. We are not just a club: with ping-pong evenings, cinema nights and flea markets, a neighborhood get-together for the district and the people here in Berlin-Neukölln is lost.
Therefore, our concrete demands on SIAG Property II GmbH and S IMMO Germany GmbH are:
Establishing contact and communication between the owner and us
Transparent and fair sales process - taking into account our investors
Extension of the rental contract until the start of construction or until there is an alternative
Four years ago, SIAG Property II GmbH bought the Sonnenallee 221 property to redevelop the site. This was followed by fixed-term leases every six months. The building permit for the property was issued in early November 2019. The current owner would like to quickly resell the site. A new owner is not yet known, so there is no way to negotiate a whereabouts. Several investors who would assure us of continued operations for the next seven to ten years already contacted S IMMO in September 2019, but have so far not been taken into account.
We are not alone in the threat of being crowded out by new buildings. Other cultural locations in Berlin also have to fight against it at the moment. This can be attributed to the lack of protection that clubs should actually have. Because they are much more than just places to celebrate. Therefore, our concrete demands on politics are:
Protection of the existence of existing clubs and consideration of club locations in development plans until 2030
Recognition of the clubs as cultural sites
long-term inner-city alternatives for threatened locations
