Tonight it's whisky time at Landgut am Hochwald and I wil be doing a small journey through the land of independent bottlers :)
Sometimes a possibility to get something good for a normal price.
From left to right Compass Box Whisky with the orchard house a lovely fruity blended whisky.
Then fresh from the Netherlands Fragrant Drops with beautifully classic.
Onwards to the SMC ( single malt circle) with a new Dalmumach with a ruby port finish.
Ever onwards with Murray McDavid who shows us the malty halls of whiskyhalla with a bold The GlenAllachie I'm sure Mr Walker would aprove ;)
vintage takes us to the up till now most north whisky distillery of Scotland Highland Park Whisky Highland Park Melody I'll save you some :)
And last but not least Berry Bros. & Rudd with a Williamson whisky (do you know wich one it is?)
I think it will be a good evening.

Happy burnsday everyone !!!
I'm lucky enough to be able to celebrate and this year yours truly will be making sure the visitors Landgut am Hochwald will have some aged golden sunlight in a glass ;)
Thanks for night 2024 or organizing and inviting me.
Bit further down below a bit of poetry about a wee mouse in "light dialect scottisch" and further the translation 😀

An' cranreuch cauld!
But, Mousie, thou art no thy-lane,

Little, sleek, cowering, timorous beast,

Honestly I'm a tad nervous but I guess the riesling sekt magnum can help with that 😅
80 people tastings are always a bit intensive.
The wines weinen:

And now it's final,after a long time of parental leave I am proud to start at the beginning of August as Fachberater beverages at Chefs Culinar.
It's going to be a big challenge a challenge am looking forward to.
Part of that is also going to be getting my wset 3 in wine and starting the Sommelier course at the international wine Institute.
Basically meaning see you all next year ;)

Mein liebes Xanten,
Das was gestern passiert ist, hätte ich nicht träumen durfen, dass es passieren würde.
Zum ersten Mal war ich aussverkauft!
Ich hatte kein Tonic mehr, ihr absolut verrückten Leute ;)
Ich wollte mich bei allen für die anhaltende Unterstützung bedanken und wir sehen uns beim nächsten Mal!
(Vergesst nicht die nächste Gin Verkostung im Neumaier - Hotel Restaurant am 30. September)
Es gibt nur noch wenige Tickets, es lohnt sich 👌.

Meine lieben Xantener Berufsgeniesser, bald ist wieder das Xantener Sommerfest und ich kann mit Stolz sagen, dass ich auch mit erfrischenden Gin-Cocktails wieder dabei sein werde.
Aber keine Sorge, ich habe natürlich goldene Oldies dabei aber auch vielen neuen Gins, die man einfach lieben werde.

Am nächsten Wochenende ist Xantener Ostermarkt und ich bin wieder mit Humble Whisky für euch am Start. Ich habe für euch eine tolle Auswahl an Gin und Whisky im Ausschank und Verkauf mit dabei.
Auch wenn das Wochenende noch etwas kälter sein sollte, könnt ihr euch mit einem wunderbaren Glühgin bei uns am Stand aufwärmen.

Kirsch Import - House of Spirits keeps coming with fancy new bottles and I accidentally won two at a Catawiki auction ;)
Thats enough preparation for now.
Whisky made only with local ingredients very exciting might have to do a tasting 🤔

April Fools Tasting - Whiskies with a twist ;)
For 1 April 2022, Humble Whisky and Frollein Scotch came up with something very special for you!
A blind tasting that will surprise you in every way!
The 1st of April is not only a day of little tricks and jokes, in this case it might even open our eyes to things that were hidden from us before.
A real illusionist and magician will help us with this. Afterwards, Jason ten Klooster from Humble Whisky and Rieke Bergmann aka Frollein Scotch will guide you through the cheeky and crazy tasting.
Of course, we can't give any details about the line-up yet, but that's you can know this:
- It will be international - the whiskies will come from different countries, because we don't want to make it too easy for you.
- It will be a blind tasting and we are already looking forward to leading you up the garden path.
- One of the 6 whiskies might be a wolf in sheep's clothing, so keep your eyes and noses open.
- It will be a wonderful evening with friends and acquaintances from the whisky community.
- On 01.04.2022 via Zoom, 19:00
- Participation fee 50€ per person
