Here’s another party coming up…. A day filled with Eurovision, as usual held at Cologne’s GLORIA theatre in November. Come join us!

Ladies' Night im Kölner GLORIA! Wir freuen uns riesig, bei unserem Clubtreffen am 25. November 2023 neben Lindsay Dracass (UK 2001) auch ESC-Gewinnerin Niamh Kavanagh (Irland 1993, 2010) und die diesjährigen Fanfavoritinnen Teya & Salena (Österreich 2023) begrüßen zu dürfen.

Moderiert wird der Abend einmal mehr von unserem Mitglied Bernd Ochs. Bei einer großen Tombola gibt es u.a. 500 Euro plus Option auf den Kauf eines ESC-Ticketpakets zu gewinnen. Im Anschluss folgt die traditionelle ESC-Disco mit DJ Ohrmeister.

Forty years ago to the day my wonderful Eurovision journey started watching the 1983 edition live on television. The precursor of this was the German national final, and as that had been won by an act from my hometown I was so curious to find out what the international contest would be like. Little did I know at the time that I’d be following it for forty years missing out on the 1994 edition only. Recording it on audio cassette at first, then switching to VHS video, later joining the OGAE network in 1996 and starting out as DJ Ohrmeister in 2003 playing at many fanclub events ever since. Twenty years on I look back on 16 years accredited as a blogger at the live event and as a DJ at the EuroClub.

There’s incredible memories of wonderful encounters in the ESC bubble, new friendships within the fandom and a variety of events we initiated in OGAE like the Finnish Eurovision Cruise, the EFN party series at the Hercules Club in Helsinki or the Setúbal Live Concert in Portugal. There’s also been some utterly toxic behaviour and jealousy within the bubble but looking back the overall experience has been one of fun, warmth and togetherness.

Just weeks ago I got to meet one of my all-time Eurovision icons that has been partly responsible for initiating my love for the contest and the wild ride that ensued - Marlène Charell who presented my first ever live on telly contest in a truly memorable if somewhat awkward way. She seemed quite flattered when I told her what that night in 1983 triggered for me.

Here’s to another forty years of music, friends and fun, and I’m looking forward to meeting many of you and making new connections along the way. Now, roll on Liverpool…

Wieder mal ein tolles Clubtreffen, dass der OGAE Germany e.V. auf die Beine gestellt hat, in einer schönen neuen Location und einem gut organisierten Team vor Ort. Danke, dass Ihr die Disco bis um 4 Uhr Sommerzeit laufen ließt, hat wieder viel Spaß gemacht. Hab mich sehr über die Musikwünsche und die gute Stimmung bei der EuroDisco gefreut. Bis zum nächsten ChaChaCha!

So Melfest WKND is now history, and it was a great time! Tack Melodifestivalklubben OGAE Sweden and Alexander Leonardo Borodin for all the hard work you guys put into this.
One of my personal highlights was meeting Shane Panch and Georgi Kanev. Thank you guys for your lovely comments in the review below… at 12:40 min and 23:50 min. Can only return the compliments!

So Eurovision 2022 in Turin is history now. Despite the fact that two weeks before proceedings started it looked as if there would be no location for fans to socialise and dance to Eurovision-only playlists, EUROfansCLUB at Hiroshima Mon Amour opened its doors for six consecutive nights.
Massive thanks go out to Jacob Traxler and DJ FirstRank for making it happen and including the OGAE DJ team. So grateful for this opportunity!
Also, mille grazie to the team of KM5 Bar Torino for accepting the offer to play for the Eurovision community on the Wednesday night - it was great fun (well, until we had to lower the volume, that is!)
Bottom line - the week felt pretty much like the pre-pandemic Eurovisions we used to know, hooray! 🤩
