The last few weeks, I’ve been rebuilding my website, which has meant revisiting years of photographs.
And what an emotional journey it’s been.
Looking back, I’ve been able to see how my work has evolved and, perhaps more importantly, understand why it evolved.
One thing became very clear.
At some point, my questions changed.
Instead of asking:
What kind of photographs are expected of me?
I started asking,
What kind of photographs do I want to make?
And eventually, an even more important question emerged:
Will these photographs allow the people in them to recognize themselves years from now?
Maybe that’s what I’ve been searching for all along.
I have more questions than answers, and I suspect there are many more questions still to come. I can still feel the ground shifting beneath my feet.
But that’s okay, because growth rarely arrives with certainty.
So, as I revisit these years through the photographs that have quietly lived on my hard drives, I simply want to say thank you.
Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with a chapter of their lives.
And thank you to those of you who are still here, walking alongside me as I figure out what this next chapter looks like.
I’m looking forward to sharing these photographs with you.
