: Ethiopian-American artist Julie Mehretu, known for her work in abstract painting, has been chosen to create BMW’s next Art Car.
Selected by an international jury of museum directors and curators to spearhead this project, Julie’s artwork, painted on a BMW M Hybrid V8, will be on the track at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in June 2024.
Through her paintings, prints, and drawings, she invites viewers to engage in a dynamic visual representation of present-day experiences, offering depictions of social behavior and the psychogeography of space. In recognition of her significant achievements, Julie has received widespread acclaim for her work, and prestigious awards including a MacArthur Fellowship in 2005 and in 2015, a U.S. Department of State Medal of Arts Award in 2015, and the Berlin Prize in 2007. She was also elected as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Design in 2021. As part of the second edition of the World Music Day, the Alliance Ethio-Française is honored to be presenting a photo exhibition in tribute to Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru on June 21st at 6.30pm at the Alliance Ethio-Française Piassa Campus. The exhibition will be followed by a piano concert performed by the renowned Girma Yifrashewa, preceded by an opening performance by Matthieu Odoux.

We would like to specify that formal attire is REQUIRED for entry.

Dans le cadre de la deuxième édition de la Fête de la Musique, l'Alliance Ethio-Française a l'honneur de vous présenter une exposition de photos en hommage à Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru le 21 juin à 18h30 à l'Alliance Ethio-Française Campus de Piassa. L'exposition sera suivie d'un concert de piano interprété par le célèbre Girma Yifrashewa, précédé d'un spectacle d'ouverture de Matthieu Odoux.

Une tenue de soirée est REQUISE pour l'accés à l'évenement.
