Well what do you know! I've been wondering how suddenly few of my mixtapes in soundcloud started to get much more listens and likes from all around the world... It appears that during the short time those mixes have been online, they have been liked and listened to so many times that they have at some point reached the soundcloud's list of TOP #30 "Melodic Hitech" tracks and are now holding the positions #14 and #16 there!

Have a look for yourself! https://soundcloud.com/tags/melodic%20hitech

Huge thanks to everyone who have been enjoying them and supporting me during these years! 🙏 Really appreciate it! All in all, this makes me feel like I've been on the right track and that there is a big amount of people out there who are really enjoying what I'm doing!

Next up: Kosmos Festival 2019, where I've been given the honor to play on Friday night already at 23:30-01:00 at the almighty Levitation Stage! Hoping to see many of you there, and for those who are not able to make it, I'm happy to tell that a mixtape of that gig will be pushed to soundcloud some time soon after the festival! 😊

Thanks again and see you all soon in one way or another! Let's keep on blasting!

Last weekend was one of many round numbers, all coincidentally piling up on the same day, Saturday.

To list some of it, my Soundcloud page reached 3000 total listens, the latest hitech mixtape there went over 500 listens...and last but not least:

This page that I started 1 week less than 1 year ago from now reached 100 likes. 100 sounds a bit little considering how long I've been doing this stuff, so allow me to explain why I think it's worth mentioning and celebrating.

First things first though, I'd like to take this moment to express my gratitude to all of you for being here, it means a lot to me! Thank you! 💖

Then to the explanation for those wanting to read it: When creating this page, I set up some rules for myself about how to manage it.

Most important of the rules was that I decided against spamming my vast variety of facebook friends to like this page via inviting everyone I know here, trying to push them to like something that they might not agree on or even know about.

Instead, I wanted to try allow people to discover this page by themselves organically and only like it if they genuinely want to do that. That way I'd know that people who have liked it are here at their own will and are getting spammed with these posts either because they really interested in getting them, liking what I do, or at the least wanting to support me in doing it.

There are a few exceptions to the rule though. One is that I allowed myself to share it into events that I play at so people who were listening knew about it, one that I could try to "trade likes" via sending an invite back when someone invites me to like their pages, and one that I could send an invite if someone has expressed their liking of my thing sometime, if happening to remember that afterwards.

I feel that these decisions have paid off. It feels much more rewarding now to have such a crowd here already, so thanks again for your support and wish you a great start of the new year! Until next time!

The time has come for a new year, new tricks, and of course, new adventures!

My first gig of the year is happening this Saturday in a rather new, already legendary UG location in Helsinki, which is unfortunately also nearing the end of its run. This might be your last chance to attend a party organized there so better make it count!

I'll be spinning all new music that was mostly gathered during a planned 3-month gig break that I nearly managed to keep completely gig-free. Some opportunities were too good to pass and some offers too good to decline, so I did play a few exceptional gigs.

The photograph here is from one of them. I don't always play in commercial corporate hi-tech events, but when I do, I do it anonymously in incognito mode. 😎 Interesting case for sure!

This year there is likely going to be less gigs from me than the previous due to increased focus in other areas of life. This should be a good thing overall as it ensures that things stay fresh and the excitement about gigging stays high, which guarantees that the motivation to make each time a special one is there.

I have high standards for my performances, thus it always takes its toll in time and energy to prepare for them. Wouldn't want it to be any other way around though.

I'll most definitely still be around and interested to hear about opportunities to share some music that I love.

Let me know if you need an invitation for the Saturday's event and I'll hook you up.

Happy new year! 🥳

Happy winter solstice everyone! What a great time to spend a moment embracing the darkness before the days start to grow in length again in the northern hemisphere! Spotted this amazing track just for that purpose. ;)

Us situated in the Southern Finland got to enjoy a luxurious 5 full hours and 49 minutes of "sunlight" today. It's basically all summer from this point on.

Thanks for this amazing year, wishing you peaceful and relaxed holidays.

Here is a mixture of something oldschool and fresh for kickstarting your weekend in a very traditional Goa style and to hopefully bring some light and warmth into the winter that is creeping in on us at the northern hemisphere!

This was definitely one of the most important gigs of my life so far. It's not important due to reasons like how "big" the event or the crowd was, but because of the amazing spirit of this event series and the special meaning that the place where it is organized annually has for me.

If you are interested to hear more details about this story, read the rest of it via clicking the link. :)

Have a shining weekend everyone! ☀️

As winter was finally starting to show its hold in Finland, it provided an excellent excuse to spend a good moment drinking something nice and warm while cherishing some memories of the past summer.

Earlier this year I was presented with an opportunity to participate in the making of a documentary short film about a subject that I've found very interesting since very young age. Of course many of you know that I have multiple such interests, but this time I'm talking about synthesizers, the electronic musical instruments that are used these days to produce probably the majority of world's music in a form or another.

Needless to say I was super excited about this thing and instantly jumped aboard and dragged some friends along with me in the process!

The film has so far pretty much been played only in some movie festivals around Finland, so good news everyone, it was finally made available for public viewing today!

The 12-minute documentary focuses around the subject of analog synthesizers in specific. You know, the ones that use actual electronic components and currents to shape the sounds instead of using digital samples and algorithms or other impure modern wizardry.

The setup of the film is a traditional synthesizer meetup, which is something similar to a hobbyist car meetup/rally where the hobbyist go to meet their kind to have some enthusiastic talks and have fun with their gear. A really great bunch of people showed up and I feel grateful for having the chance to spend the day with them. Made some good new friends in the process too!

As there is only so much one can fit in 12 minutes of film, lots of great material and good stories had to be cut behind in the making of it. I hope to see a director's cut some time in the future that involves all the interviews and sound samples.

Long story not that short, I wish you a pleasant viewing experience with this documentary! Interested to hear your thoughts and synthesizer related stories below in the comments. :)

Hello, World! I've been a busy bee for the past couple of months, not having much time to focus on music. I can't of course completely escape it, no matter how much other things there are to do, not that I would even want to.

Things have been bubbling under the surface. One thing that I've been involved with during this year is establishing a new internet radio station called Soar.FM. (http://soar.fm/)

Tonight at 22-00 Finnish time I'll be joining forces with some of the other actives of the project in order to talk about it in the infamous "Back 2 Mad" show of a real local radio station called Bassoradio. You can expect at least DJs Äimä, Akubara and Monkey Business, along with the amazing Back 2 Mad hosts to be there with me!

If you don't own a radio or just live outside of the transmission range, you can listen to the broadcast here: https://player.basso.fi/ or through the Basso smartphone app.

Link to Back 2 Mad's facebook event in the comments, you're welcome to join us there to drop comments. Hoping to hear from you during our time at the megahertz frequencies!

Things have been a bit quiet here for a while now for a good reason: I've been enjoying this incredible summer and everything it has had to offer, being offline as much as possible! Vacations are done for now and it has become time to slowly return to work! 🤗

The summer had plenty of nice parties, festivals, gigs and a whole lot of relaxation! I'm going to mention some of the brightest highlights here, after which I'll tell a bit about my future gigs and other plans.

Kosmos Festival 2018 marked the beginning of my summer holiday. I've been taking a consistently growing part in organizing this absolutely lovely Finnish gathering of the electronic tribes with a whole bunch of amazing people for 4 years now. It always takes a whole lot of work, but it's been much worth it each time and we've done better every time! This year I also had the honor to play a set in a few of its support events before the festival and at the almighty Levitation Stage in the festival itself! It was an early morning set, but surprisingly many people came! Cheers guys! Photo is from the gig, thanks Eero (the happy guy on the left)!

Week after Kosmos went by in a friend's lovely countryside residence doing as little as possible, but I couldn't rest for too long. R.A.KK.A.U.S (love), a whole weekend wedding party near Kosmos area was at the end of the week! Thank you and congratulations once more Rosabella and Gypsy for being the awesome people you are!

It's Friday and the sun is shining! What a perfect day for another round of...EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE AND CLEANUP!

I received the spare parts for these somewhat beaten second hand CDJ-800mkII CD-players some weeks ago, but didn't have time to continue the restoration project before today.

As you can see, they have seen some life and the previous owner has not taken such a good care of them.

Just as last time, I'll write some details about the process into the caption of each photo.

TL;RD: They are now all fixed up, functional and clean! Hooray!

Wow, this was already three years ago! I wonder if listening to fast music makes the time flow by faster too?

There we were, part of the Finnish Pirate Party's political campaign, playing some psytrance, hitech, funk, house and 90's dance hits at the heart of Helsinki in Kamppi's Narinkkatori along with other DJ's like Miazu, AFRO! and Iku.

This campaign was not left unnoticed! The next parliament election is coming up next year, so...let's do it again, shall we? ;)

So here are the bright side blasts from the past weekend's gathering! That was a spectacular party that will surely be remembered fondly for decades to come! Decided to record the set this time mainly because the timetables of the party changed in a way that pushed me to play the last set starting at 9AM on Sunday, making many willing dancers and listeners miss it due to getting too tired already or having obligations. You're welcome and thank you all for your support!

Here is a continuation in my quest of bringing hitech psytrance to the masses. It was built for demonstrating the versatility, possibilities and playfulness of the genre while simultaneously pushing s

View from the office today! My secretary (me) forgot to book flights early enough so only the cramped tourist (read: expensive business) class tickets were left, thus I decided to give the train a try. It takes around 5.5h to travel to Oulu, which should be plenty of time to do 85% remote work while giving 15% to think about the oncoming DJ set. Multitrack multitasking!

Yesterday was a day for equipment maintenance. Hooray!

I bought these CDJ-800mkII CD-players used and they were sold with small defects. First of all the Play and Cue -buttons have lost their "click" which effectively turns them into touch sensitive "instant trigger" buttons which are very easy to press at the wrong moments. Sometimes even just the vibrations blasting out of even a relatively small sound system can trigger them. Not good.

The other player also frequently has trouble reading the CDs, popping out the notorious error code "E-8301", requiring a reboot and some tilting/shaking while booting up to get a track ready and loaded. This is something that you might be able to live with for a little while at home while it slowly turns you insane, but it would be hilarious to watch the DJs performing with these players doing this multiple times on stage during their gigs.

Time to perform some repairs here! I wrote some explanation about the process in the captions of these images. Enjoy!

Finish a song today to get it played in Bassoradio this evening? Challenge accepted! Tune in to Back 2 Mad show at http://basso.fi at 22:00 tonight to hear it!
The tune will be accompanied with a short interview, which ironically touches the subject of how hard it can be to finish tunes when you're prone towards perfectionism.

Shooting of the synthesizer documentary took place last Saturday. Super exciting stuff!

Basically it was like attending a proper traditional synthesizer meetup where enthusiasts get to meet with other hobbyists and drool and noodle all over each others equipment while having lots of interesting discussions, loads of twisted humor and good laughs, with the added bonus of getting interviewed on camera about a subject that you love. This definitely did not feel like work at all! The day went by way too fast.

The documentary will be finished some time in April. I'm not entirely sure about how it will be distributed at this point, but will definitely keep you guys posted when I know.

15/02/2018

This weekend I will be participating in the shooting of a Finnish documentary film about synthesizers as an interviewee and a presenter. I'm excited to be given this opportunity to tell the world what turned me on to synthesizers in the first place and the many ways they have affected my life ever since!
The documentary includes a presentation and sound demos out of the interviewees favorite synthesizers. In my case, that would be the incredible Soviet analog synthesizer Polivoks, which is a true thing of beauty! It can sound extremely raw, dark and evil, but just as well very playful and video game -like.
What makes this whole thing even more exciting is that Kebu, one of my greatest idols in synthesizer music, will also be in this documentary! Can't wait!
I will surely publish the end result in this page once it comes out for public viewing! Stay tuned! (Or for much fatter sounding results: Stay detuned!)

This is a demo of the famous Soviet synthesizer - Polivoks by its inventor, Vladimir Kuzmin.

A much needed upgrade fell from the heavens today! 🤗

I've had a pair of Pioneer CDJ-100S for nearly ten years in my home setup to cover all my CD-playing needs. They are very limited featurewise and not very nice to play with, but they do get the job done while greatly improving your patience along with your beatmatching skills!

Still, given the opportunity to buy a cheap pair of trusty CDJ-800mk2 players, it was an offer I simply couldn't turn down.

DJ needs his tools and my toolbox is only lacking vinyl players at this point. There is even the "fine adjustment sledge hammer" for situations where the beats just won't match without a proper beating!
