A story of one idea. История одной идеи.

An idea got stuck in my head when I was still living in Russia back in 2010.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For ages, the organisation of weddings in Russia was taken care of by the bridesmaids. Just like in Finland nowadays. I had studied the topic of weddings for years and noticed that the bridesmaids, in reality, created events not for the bride but for themselves. Each wanted to realise her own unrealised dreams. In the end, all weddings seemed to be assembled from pieces and were surprisingly similar to each other.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I got then the idea of becoming a professional wedding planner.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I thought I had had solid arguments:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️ I am observant⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️ I can set goals and accomplish them⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️ I can split a complex task into parts to find a solution⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️ I dream of creating sophisticated weddings like in the movies⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️ The wishes of the bride and groom, their values and history are my top priority, not my personal dreams. And even more so, not the fantasies of relatives and friends of the newlyweds⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️ I am going to dedicate all the time to working on a wedding, which no bridesmaid can afford being occupied at her job or by her family.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Besides, there was no sign of such services in Ufa back then.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I gladly shared my idea with my relatives but got a clear explanation that nobody needed a wedding planner. Because of traditions. And I believed...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But the stuck in mind idea lasts, doesn't it? In autumn 2018, after eight years, it reminded of itself again but in another country and in a slightly different form.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And that is how Cherry Day was born.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

P.S. There are over ten wedding planners successfully operating in Ufa, and the demand for their services only kees growing.

5️⃣ steps which a wedding planner undertakes to prevent the wedding dress from dictating its rules in a wedding.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is important to me that a wedding is about the couple. Their inner world and love set the event mood and determine the looks of the bride and groom as well as decorations. Not vice versa.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The ideal scenario is to create a foundation:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ Clear up the priorities and values of the couple which should be taken into account during the preparations. What is important to them? A famous cover-band or a hall totally filled with flowers?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣ Make a preliminary wedding budget and distribute all major expenses, such as venue rental, food and beverages, flowers and decorations, entertainment, photo and video, looks of the bride and groom, and so on.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3️⃣ Check what venues are available in the region and make appropriate requests. It is much simpler to find a venue that fits the wedding style than to spend a bigger part of the budget on decorations.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4️⃣ Agree with the couple on the final style and atmosphere of the wedding. Still, I bear in mind all the information from the previous steps.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5️⃣ Together with the bride, find photos of wedding dresses and suits that match the overall wedding design, style, and body types of the bride and the groom.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Only after creating such a foundation, the bride happily goes shopping and tries out only dresses resemble those in the chosen photos and are within the budget price-wise.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I advise all my brides to resist their inner voice and voices of other people who try to persuade her to look at the dresses that do not match the wedding style or are much more expensive than she can afford. There is always a great chance that she fells in love with such a dress and makes an emotional purchase. She is going to regret it later but won't return it to the shop. And we would start all the planning work from scratch.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Drastic differences between the looks of the groom and the bride are a great way to ruin the wedding atmosphere.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every bride usually understands and agrees with this statement. But then, she meets the Dream Gown and emotions blind her mind... Consequences of such an emotional purchase hit the girl when the feelings gradually fade away and the budget begins to skyrocket together with the need to create surroundings that complement the bridal look.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are two critical cases.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ A light wedding dress + a casual groom's suit + huge or complicated decorations.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here, the newlyweds are lost amongst the decor and dissolve in the crowd of guests. The wedding becomes a story about decorations and not about the couple. This case is quite rare since people who decide to wear simple dresses usually choose simplicity in decorations.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣ A princess dress with a trail + a black tuxedo with a bow-tie + rustic decorations.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I see it in a huge number of wedding photos. And usually I am sad seeng it, because of the money spent for nothing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Girls prefer rustic wedding because this style is very cute and romantic. A wooden venue, minimal DIY decorations, like candles in pretty jars, a bit of greenery on the tables or wildflowers in bottles, wooden tables without tablecloths... And there are so many rustic-styled venues in Finland!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But the classy gowns of the bride and the groom belong to another world. The world of palaces, crystal vases and snow-white tablecloths, silver chandeliers and porcelain tableware, red carpets and luxury cars.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Classy attire looks much more expensive than rustic decorations and visually makes the decor even cheaper. As if the couple had spent the entire budget on buying the gown and tuxedo and organised the wedding for the money left after the purchase.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What to do? Well, you don't want to spend everything trying to create a palace for a wedding dress from a barn? I'm going to tell you more in the next post.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This cool set of wedding stationery was designed by , especially for the project "Our wedding. Our Story".
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We wanted our imaginary guests to tune immediately to the fact that the "wedding" won't be the same as others.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We chose quite a minimalistic design for the stationery. There are no shiny foil, no calligraphic signs, no watercolour flowers. All the beauty is in a textured paper, nontrivial colour palette, and fonts that aren't expected to appear in the wedding stationery.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each element bears a certain idea based on the wedding/project conception.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Black is a reminder of the industrial style of the venue, thin eucalyptus branch is a connection to nature and the floristry used in the project... And even a piece of textile used for decorations found its place on the invitations and the RSVP cards.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

About my associations with the word "wedding".⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A couple of days ago, I wrote that items and phenomena arise an association chain. I also mentioned that this fact is mainly determined by the experience of a person. Today, I would like to share with you an example on this topic.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many years ago, the word "wedding" gave me associations of a girl in a long white gown, a man in a black tuxedo and bow-tie, a luxury white car and a cloud of white roses...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Later, I immersed myself in the wedding planning and since then, I check and analyse a myriad of weddings from all over the world on a daily basis. And my associations with "wedding" have changed dramatically.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Material images have gone to distant positions and have become less straightforward.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, a girl not necessary wears a gown, it easily can be a pantsuit. And the colour of the dress sometimes is not white... For example, my own wedding gown was greyish-blue.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A man not necessary wears a black tuxedo, and snow-white roses become flowers of different shapes and forms.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today, the first thing that appears in my mind when facing the word "wedding" is emotions.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A surprise of a groom when he sees his bride in a new stunning look for the first time...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A tender and excited eyes to eyes glance when they say a sacramental "I do"...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tears of happiness of parents, relatives and friends when the groom and bride pronounce their vows...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And endless smiles and laughter during a wedding banquette...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am happy about these changes in my mind. Truly, emotions stay in memory forever. A bride can forget what flowers were in her bouquet, but she will remember its smell and excitement about its beauty until the end of the world. That's why for me, as for a wedding planner, the most important is to create an atmosphere that will be an endless source of desirable emotions.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Recently, I had a pretty interesting discussion on how words and phenomena can sometimes raise completely opposite associations in two different people. This fact relates to the experience that each of them gains in their life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But there are phenomena which cause the same response in most of the people. Since I am a wedding planner, my task is to explore and understand what associations develop from these or those events. This knowledge is priceless for creating a unique wedding conception. Since memories of a wedding will depend on associations and emotions that arise among event participants.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every object or phenomenon draws a chain of images. Here is an example. The word "cosy" paints me an image with a soft, warm blanket and the smell of freshly baked cinnamon buns. But for someone else, it shall be candlelight and wool socks. Nonetheless, our associations share one thing in common, the wool texture. So, if I needed to convey a sense of cosiness, I would use this texture.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At this point, I became interested in performing a small experiment and finding out how my vision about weddings matches with yours.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So, we designed a cool project, selected a venue, ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
thought out the decorations to the smallest detail, planned a photoshoot schedule...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then arrived for a final location check and realised. Oh crap. 🤦🏻‍♀️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tables and chairs turned out to be completely different from what we had agreed upon: the size wasn't suitable, the style didn't match our idea of beauty and even the polish colour didn't fit our palette. All wrong.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just one week was left until the photoshoot. And we needed a table. With certain specifications. But we hadn't budgeted buying a table. Yeah, such fails happen even to professionals.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What to do?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We caused mayhem across all our friends, shouted a call in social media pleading to lend us a table for a day. It was a little bit nervous time: "What if we never find it?" My brain worked hard trying to find other solutions. And I came up with a couple of good ideas.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But somewhere deep inside, I was certain that our search wouldn't go in vain. And it really didn't. The table appeared just a day before the photoshoot.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And in my humbe opinion, it blended perfectly into the environment and the atmosphere.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A couple of days ago I got an insight that my self-isolation somehow has dragged on. These two months I've been confused and wondered how long the quarantine measures will last and what to do in such a situation.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

No, I haven't been sitting back but studying hard in courses, watching an uncountable amount of webinars, thinking a lot.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But suddenly, the necessity of a jolt and changes has become obvious. Besides, the Finnish government decided to gradually lift quarantine restrictions. And hurray! The light appears at the end of a tunnel!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🌤 I believe that behind all clouds the Sun is still shining

🎉 And I hope that in a short time we still will be celebrating weddings, birthdays and other memorable days.

Post of gratitude :)

Last Saturday we had s a nice event in Joensuu - Juhla- ja häämessut Kimmelissä. For me, it was the first Fair, where I participated as a vendor and as a part of the organisational team. I am so happy that everything went so smooth and I would like to thank everybody, who supported me at that time.

The opening gratitudes go to Joensuun Nuorkauppakamari. First, without these guys, this year Joensuu would stay without Wedding Fair at all! And second, they gave my team a great opportunity to help with planning and to decorate the venue. It is almost unbelievable that together we arranged so beautiful event in such a short period.

Mari Kammari thank you for your creativity, working capacity and adventurism 😆 🙈 I am so happy to have so skilled designer working with me on the stationery and decorations.

Café Rosé and Kukkakauppa Leinikki, you are the best neighbours ever! I am proud that I had a possibility to share the corner with you :)

TRUE WISHES. Project “Our wedding. Our story.” J&M

Every wedding (and in this case every project) starts with a Couple.
⠀
Some people are conservative and they have a strong belief that a wedding is equal to white roses, A-style wedding dress and black suits. Some people rock with hard music and can not imagine themselves in traditional dresses. Some are in love with ethnic style, rough lace and macrame... And for each of them, I would create different weddings.
⠀
The most important part for me is to understand the values and style of The Couple... To find out as many details as possible to create a wedding with unique story.
⠀
Let me tell you what impression I had after the interview with Jasmin Ryynänen and Miro. I believe, you will understand better why we designed the project this way.

They are bright and stylish.
🌟
They do not afraid of experiments. (It was a very brave decision to be models in my project. And I am grateful for your courage, guys! 🙏🏻)
🌟
They like to spend time in the city, however, they can not imagine living surrounded by asphalt and concrete.
🌟
They like to party with their friends, but do not mind walking in forests with their cute dog.
🌟
They love loft-style but prefer natural and calm colours.
🌟
They are so young, but it looks like they've been together from the beginning of ages.

How to find a clue for their story, when there are so many contradictions?
⠀
We decided to play boldly on the contrasts: natural elements in industrial space, gentle flowers and rough textures, shiny metal and matte black ceramics. Check the carousel! 😉

I am so happy that The Couple liked our design. And I almost cried of happiness, when they said in surprise: "We talked just for one hour before the project. How did you manage to create something that we loved so much?!" 😍

I am looking for models for a PHOTO-project “Our story. Our wedding.” If you wish to feel yourselves a bride and a groom one more time or if you always wanted to try this look on you—this is your chance!

– An inspirational wedding photo session based on your personalities and story
– Based on TFP terms
– Time: November–December 2019
– Place: Joensuu and region
– Make-up and hairstyle
– Bridal and groom outfits (if necessary)

– Can communicate in English at a basic level

THE FIRST MEETING BEFORE THE WEDDING CEREMONY... ARE YOU INSANE? Part 1.
Of course, we all saw those movies and photos where a bride walks down an aisle and a groom looks so amazed by the first glance at her and cries out in happiness and love... An unforgettable and touching picture! I truly believe so!

But what to do if such a meeting is not an option? Does it mean that you are to miss all the emotions? Of course, not! You always have a choice. 😉
⠀
One of the options is to arrange the first meeting before the ceremony. Am I insane?😱 How does it work? Let's start with the pros and cons.

Pros
✅ A great choice if you have a civil ceremony where the bride and the groom are to appear together
✅ A possibility to chose any place you want
✅ Privacy of any level. It can be done just for two of you or in the middle of the crowd at a concert
✅ Flexibility in the scenario
✅ A possibility to take photos with no rush
