LAST OF THE SUMMER BOUQUETS
Or just for a while... As we grow our flowers as natural and sustainable as possible, our flock of blooms have struggled with the heat. Tenacious dahlias are thriving however. So we will let you know when the bouquets are back - as an alternative we can offer some pretty dried flowers and hand-poured scented soy candles - a unique option as a gift or thank-you.

In the meantime Kate and I will be working on other projects to share in the Autumn. Kate beautiful hand dyeing with natural homemade dyes (again dahlias are featured with their wonderful versatility and deep colour hues).

Me - Equine Facilitated Learning - Horses can help you discover more about yourself( no riding and no prior knowledge of horses necessary). The opportunity to discover the connection between horse and human and how this can help with a variety of challenges from stress, anxiety, self confidence, all aspects of personal growth and wellbeing.

Of course, we will also be in our happy place - ordering wonderful tulip bulbs ready to spring us all into Spring.

I trained as a homoeopath and always loved the concept of “doctrine of signatures” plants that resemble the condition or body part, can in some way treat or alleviate the illness.
This year we have a fine show of pulmonaria or lungwort with its hairy leaves (like little capillaries ) flecked with white spots that resembled lung disease.
Therefore it's healing attributes are recognised and used to make infusions helping in cases of bronchitis and asthma.
In the language of flowers, Pulmonaria means “You Are My Life”.

I picked this wild medicinal plant to show off the beauty of our anemones which also carry ancient medicinal qualities.
The name comes from the Greek word anemone, meaning “ windflower “ or “daughter of the wind” and was associated with the belief that an anemone only opened when the wind blew.
They have been used in traditional folk medicine around the world. Once used to treat stomach spasms and menstrual pains and the Ancient Romans used their blooms to treat bruises and fever.

Lungwort is also associated with the element of AIR & believed to offer protection when travelling by air. Coupled with the “ windflower “ there is something quite special about this mix - complimentary on many levels. Form & function & very pretty X

Although a bit grey and nippy outside today - Spring is on its way & we are looking forward to the first blooms being available soon.
