For as long as I live I will never understand how "Black Lives Matter" became a controversial statement.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Such a simple, raw and heartbreaking request. Can black people's existence "matter"? ..."matter" should be the f-ing minimum. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The fact that any human being's right to exist is even up for discussion is a pretty powerful condemnation of America, and the sickness of the construct of 'whiteness' in general. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A guilty verdict is not 'justice.' Justice would be if George Floyd were still here. If he got to go home to his daughter. This verdict is a step, it's a glimmer of hope for America's soul, but it's not justice. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I'm supposed to be working on/selling a workshop right now, but my heart is heavy with the collective exhale of my black friends and family. Who maybe for a minute might feel like they can sortof breathe again... until the next thing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

White people, we have to keep pushing, protesting, donating, holding elected officials accountable for their words and actions (looking at you ) We have to keep asking questions, keep digging, keep being uncomfortable, keep making mistakes until we have yanked out every trace of this sickness of racism by its very deep and old roots. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
