Welcome to the club Chris and Alice Murray. This lovely couple have signed up to raise money for our local charities and take on the dance challenge. They have always wanted to try dancing but never got round to it 12 years on and they have their dancing shoes at the ready and will be competing to become Aberdeen’s next strictly couple ☺️ good luck in the competition. Most of all have fun, and thank you very much on behalf of the charities and us. 💃💃

The 2 dance styles we have chosen to teach. Picture yourself performing your chosen dance routine at a red carpet event. This is an amazing opportunity to learn something new, raise money for local charities and feel amazing in 2019

Which one is your favourite?

1 - American Smooth:
Picture Fred and Ginger gliding across the screen, sometimes together, sometimes apart, but always in perfect time. This is American Smooth. Adapted in America from the traditional standard dances of Europe, American Smooth includes four dances that are also performed in the International Standard: waltz, tango, foxtrot and Viennese waltz. While the Standard dancers must remain in contact throughout, American Smooth couples are allowed to separate, and even perform solo moves, before rejoining. This “open hold” gives them more creative freedom and leads to a distinctly different kind of expression than is seen in the International Standard style.

2- The Charleston:

A lively and energetic dance that’s characterised by kick steps and twisting feet. This animated dance is most popular today as a partner style dance that has ties to swing dancing and Lindy Hop.

Amazing. So glad we have the opportunity to support local charities. What these amazing people do at “Befriend a Child” helping children all over the north east is just phenomenal.

Signing up to this event, gives you a challenge, gives you an opportunity, but most of all gives you the best feeling in the world knowing you are spreading love, positivity, and generosity.

***Announcement***

After a considerable amount of thought Elma and I have the first charity confirmed, we feel this charity can benefit on a large scale from what we hope to achieve by organising this event. Befriend a Child I spent some time with some of the amazing organisers of this charity today and we could not be happier to be part of helping raise awareness and funds for such a much needed local charity in today’s society.

Basic information on what to expect from our events. Our mission is to put on an amazing event whilst raising awareness for struggling local charities on our doorstep.

-8 weeks dance training. There will be 2 dance styles to choose from to learn.
-Tickets for the event will be sold by the participants the event will be an amazing event with lots going on for guests. Participants will feel as if they are on the finals of strictly come dancing.
-Participants must then raise a minimum of £30 for a local charity we are working along side local charities, however we want to raise awareness for all none mainstream charities on our doorstep and therefor will change the charities each event we do.
-Videographer will be following each couples progress in the 8 weeks and can be watched on our YouTube channel weekly

More information will come each week on this event. We will have limited space for anyone looking to take part. We will inform once we are ready to open the sign ups but for now, we are excited to announce this event is happening, we are encouraging anyone who wants to jump out their comfort zone, and do something different and help us with our mission to raise awareness of those struggling charities. Guaranteed to have fun and do something incredible at the same time.

We would like to introduce an event we are organising, full details are being worked on and more information will be updated to this page. 2017 saw the first event up north for Ultra Ballroom, many particpated in this event and it was amazing to be part of the entire experience, 2018 saw the second but last event from Ultra Ballroom. We are unaware of why they made the decision to pull it from Aberdeen, we have contacted and had permission to do a similar event. We are going to raise money for local charities with each event we do.

For some basic information on what we are doing. We will be looking for non professional couples to sign up for 8 weeks free dance training in order to raise money for local charities and dance a routine at an event to friends and family. You will be competing at something you may have always thought was impossible.

The event will be an amazing event, there will be professional judges to score each couple, a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for best dance. We will have entertainment, videos and catering for the event.

We are excited and can not wait. Dance & Make it Happen!
