More than 100,000 individuals pass through our doors each year, with over 40 professional, amateur and youth companies who rely on us as the only mid-scale theatre venue in the North

East of Scotland. Our backbone is our 50 strong volunteer base, supporting our dedicated core staff, who continue to provide excellent service coupled with affordable performance, conference and rehearsal space for City and Shire organisations. Aberdeen Arts Centre and Children’s Theatre has many brilliant people to thank for their pioneering work. One of them is Catherine Hollingworth. She pioneered work in drama and theatre for young people and set up the first municipal Children’s Theatre in the UK in the 1950s. She gave young people the opportunity to create their own theatre - writing scripts, acting, directing, creating props, building sets, making costumes, doing sound and lights, selling programmes and interval ice creams - she wanted them to be able to do it all! So she created a space where that could happen: Aberdeen Children’s Theatre

Join us on Friday for Imagination Bubble, a weekly class to have creative adventures.
Each week, the first half of the session will be led by Eve, one of our brilliant Creative Facilitators. She will play games, songs, dancing, stories and take you and your little one on a creative journey!
