Hello, happy Monday! Sorry it's been a while again... Things have been super busy over here! 😊

So far I've managed to plant out over 300 ranunculus plants in the polytunnel, dig a 10 meter long trench for my spring bulbs, plant out 18 bare root peonies/roses, make a 10m no dig bed, pot on 100s of seedlings in the greenhouse and finally plant out 1000s of Spring bulbs ready for next year 🌷✨💗😊

Things are suuuuper busy this time of year but I'm finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel 😆 my back is very grateful for not having to shovel anymore wheelbarrows of mulch! Phew!

I still need to set up the entire rest of the new growing area ready for next year however I think I'm going to leave that until January to give my poor back a break!

I'm so excited to see all of the beautiful Spring bulbs 😍 that's if the hungry squirrels, voles or field mice don't have an all you can eat buffet over the Winter 🙈😅

Thought I would share another little update of what's been happening here at the farm.

The new growing area is coming along nicely! The professional fencing is complete ✅😁

I've been busy preparing for my Spring bulbs to go in the ground. I cannot wait for all of the tulips next year!! 🌷🌷🌷 In total I have about 3,000 bulbs to get planted (I don't quite know what I was thinking! 😄🫣).

The next mission is to plant out 350 ranunculus into the polytunnel as they are all now outgrowing their pots in the greenhouse!

Then the next thing to tackle after that will be getting my new no dig beds set up for Spring 🌱🥰

It's a crazy busy time of year for us growers, people tend to think summer is the busiest time of year. Whilst it is super busy cutting flowers and fulfilling orders, fortunately the list of jobs to do on the farm does die down a little 😊

I'm a little bit scared of the number of plants I need to plant out come Spring 🌱😆 I've doubled the amount I've grown from this year, so it will be a mammoth task. Still, it is all worth it to see those beautiful flowers growing and getting to share them with you all 🥰💐✨

Good evening, sorry for the radio silence. I'm having difficulty with my app so haven't been able to share any updates easily on here.

The weather has definitely taken a turn! We are well and truly in the depths of Autumn with all of this rain.

The flowers for next year are still looking good so far. I've been busy doing lots of potting on and nurturing the seedlings in the greenhouse.

The dahlias have finally been dug up, dried out and tucked away for the Winter.

Lots more poly tunnel prep has taken place. We now have two out of three no dig beds completed. Thank you again for all of your wonderful generosity with the donations of cardboard. It is greatly appreciated 🙏

Soon it will be Spring bulb planting time but first a lot of tidying up is to take place!

The Ranunculus have been started ready for next year 🌱✨ let's hope they work out as nicely as my practice batch this year 🙏 I've ordered lots of special varieties this time around which are sooooooo beautiful. Fingers crossed they do well 🤞

The season is well and truly over here now at Red House Farm ❤️

Yesterday we had our first frost so the dahlias have now finished and will be entering dormancy for the winter. Time to label them up, chop them back, dig them up, dry and store them safely for next year.

This time of year always brings a wave of emotions. I'm not sad to see the season come to an end as I follow nature's lead and know it'll come each year. Although a tiny part of me is sad to say goodbye to the beautiful colours 🩷🧡 It is more feelings of immense gratitude for everything the year has brought .... for all of the incredible support from everyone for making this all happen. For supporting my dream 🙏 As well as a lot of reflection, this time of year also brings waves of excitement for the season ahead! A brand new fresh start and all of the new opportunities to look forward too! And lastly a slight feeling of dread if I'm being entirely honest 🙈 .... of the work ahead of me over the winter months 😀 so much preparation and work lies ahead now all ready for next year 😵‍💫 I've got my thermals ready 😆

Pumpkins don't have to be orange 🧡

I created this beautiful neutral peachy pumpkin arrangement yesterday for the lovely DFA Beauty which was so much fun!! I love doing something a little bit different sometimes and it turned out so beautiful 😍🎃💐🤍✨

If you've not seen Danielle's beautiful studio before then I highly recommend you check it out, the most dreamiest neutral decor 😍

When I was asked if I could make a flower display to match I was so excited!! It's difficult to create certain colours sometimes when you are working with nature, as Mother Nature dictates the colours for you... But working with what I have I managed to create a beautiful neutral pumpkin display with some slight peachy tones 🤍✨🌸

Everything is grown from seed by myself including the dried Honesty pods! Pampas grass is from Southeast Sundries 🤍✨🌸

Thank you so much to everyone who contacted me in regards to the cardboard help ☺️ I'm super grateful for everyone's support 🙏

I thought I'd explain in greater detail what I'm actually using it for 😁 sorry it's a long one...

As most of you know I am currently in the process of expanding here at Red House Farm. I began my growing journey in a smaller growing area in our first small field 🌱 However do the the increased popularity and high demand I am moving into our next field along which offers a much larger growing area! 😍

We are still in the process of getting the poly tunnel set up which unfortunately has had a few setbacks, but we are so close to finishing it now 🤩🥳 Inside the poly tunnel I am creating my no dig beds which is why I am after large quantities of flat cardboard.

The reason I prefer to use the 'No dig' method is because it is far better for the soil health. To encourage healthy plants you of course need healthy soil!

By avoiding digging into the ground, the beneficial micro organisms in the soil remain undisturbed, this leads to better soil structure, nutrients retention, and better moisture holding capacities... The cardboard is laid down on the grass which acts as a light barrier that naturally kills off the grass, due to its inability to photosynthesis. The cardboard of course is biodegradable and breaks down (as well as the grass below) and feeds the soil and microorganisms underneath. You add your mulch of choice on top of the cardboard, which also helps feed the soil and suppress any weeds - you are able to plant directly into this if needed ☺️👍

I honestly could go on all day about my love for the no dig method and soil health but I won't carry on anymore this post is already too long 😂 well done if you'd made it this far!

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. I thought I'd share a little bit of an update...

We're still ploughing through the endless list of jobs here at Red House Farm. I'm currently working through potting on all of the seedlings, which are now ready for the next pot size. It's crazy to think these will be next year's flowers 😍

I'm still working my way through the last of the Autumn seed sowing marathon... only a few more left to sow including a few more Sweet Peas - I'll save the other half for a Spring sowing 🌱

I haven't even started the ranunculus yet or given much thought as to when I'm going to plant the Spring bulbs. We'll get there I'm sure 😁🌷

Lots of jobs to get through in preparation for next year but I'm super excited to share more with you all soon! 😁✨💐

What a perfect day 🌸✨

I was absolutely honored to be asked to do my sister in law's baby shower flowers yesterday 🌸✨🥰🙏

To be trusted to help decorate this beautiful event was so special and meant a lot. I absolutely loved choosing the blooms out in the field, cutting and arranging the cute little table posies 🌸

Also to work alongside the incredible First Class Events 😍🎈 seeing the beautiful balloons in person was amazing! They look sooo beautiful in real life! What a real privilege this whole day was 🙏🌸✨

Always thinking about the season ahead 🌷🌞🍂❄️

With the seasonal shifts us growers have to be on our toes and are constantly thinking of the weather and the seasons ahead 😄 A lot of this growing flowers milarky is in the planning and prep work 🌸 Yesterday I managed to cut a load of helichrysum in the flower field for drying - something that has been on my to do list for a while... (Still lots more to cut).

When the Winter months are here and the fresh flowers are no longer in bloom, we will have lots of these dried beauties to work with 🧡

I never thought much about helichrysum until I started growing it and now I'm obsessed! Especially the deep pomegranate ones 😍 also the pollenators absolutely love them when they are fully opened 🦋🐝 another reason to love them! Are you a fan of straw flowers?

Good Morning everyone, I hope you are all well. I have a small update that I would like to share...

With the recent changes of the weather our fresh flower season is slowly coming to an end here at Red House Farm. Whilst there are still many flowers available here in the field, I will no longer be taking any further bespoke bouquet orders. I can no longer guarantee availability and would hate to let anyone down. I would like to thank you so much for your support over the past few months and I'm beyond grateful for everything! 🥰 I may still have the odd bunch of flowers here and there to avoid any blooms going to waste, so watch out for those 💐🌸

Pilgrim's Hospice ready 💐🩷

Another reason why I've stopped taking orders this week is due to a charity commitment I've made. For those who don't know I used to be involved in lots of charity work with my previous jobs. I used to be a charity ambassador and charity champion in the offices that I worked in 🥰 it only felt right that I carry that over into this job as well!

I am going to be making this a regular thing and will be changing the charity each time to make sure everyone benefits in some way 💐🩷

I have made 14 beautiful seasonal British bouquets this morning which I am going to donate to the hospice in Ashford. I know it isn't much but I'm hoping it might brighten someone's day by receiving a bunch of flowers 🙏 Flowers have a beautiful way of helping to lift spirits and sometimes bringing back beautiful memories 💕 let's hope at least one of these bouquets does just that 💐🩷🌸
