πΈ Dahlias πΈ
It's crazy to think before long we will be thinking about waking up our dahlias and potting them up! The time will be here before we know it! I cannot wait!
I don't start waking mine up until around early March time ready to plant out in April. Often this is when the temperatures start picking up and we are guaranteed no more frosts πβοΈ
One of the main reasons I like to pre sprout mine and grow them on before planting out, is to give them a bit of a head start and give them a fighting chance against those pesky slugs! I find they do much better this way than going directly into the ground. There is no right or wrong I just find this method works best for me personally π±
I get asked allllllll of the time where I buy my tubers from, and there is no one specific place. I buy my tubers from all over the shop π₯°πΈ
After a bit of a rubbish year last year, I lost majority of my dahlias to a disease called Gall. I have decided to reinvest in my absolutely favorite flower and have over 100 new tubers coming πππ₯° I've actually lost count now - I'll need to check my spreadsheet π so I'm super excited to hopefully have lots and lots of beautiful dahlias for 2025!!
The main suppliers that I have ordered from this year are some who I've used previously and some new ones who I've not used before πΈ The main ones are;
@dahliabeach
@gagerestate
@jparkersbulbs
I think I have a few more orders here and there but can't remember now so they will be a complete surprise when they arrive ππ I love those ones!
And plllllleeeassees don't make me pick a favorite, I have too many! But this one is definitely up there with it's beautiful pinky peachy gorgeousness! It's Linda's Baby π©·ππΈ Do you have a favorite Dahlia? π

Potting on seedlings sometimes feels like a never ending task! π± However it's all worth it when you see all of your beautiful plants growing and producing stunning flowers ππ₯°π»
This is my first year trying a different growing medium and I must admit I was a tad nervous at first. I used to just use multiple purpose compost but was really keen to try John Innes No.1 compost which is specifically designed for potting on seedlings and young plants.
I was kindly gifted this bag from Gardenscape. As you are aware I am super lucky to now be working in partnership with ππ±
I must say I am VERY impressed with the overall results! I didn't want to share until I had given my seedlings sufficient time to grow in their new medium and I must say I can DEFINITELY notice the difference! I've also have been receiving a tonne of messages lately asking what am I doing to my seedlings as they look so strong and healthy and what have I been feeding them and the answer is nothing! π In truth I've actually neglected them quite badly, but they seem to be absolutely thriving in their new compost. So a massive thank you to Gardenscape for the good stuff yet again!
I'll definitely be continuing to use this going forward as my seedlings are growing into very beautiful strong plants! π Bring on the flowers πΈ
I'm curious to know what you guys use to pot on your seedlings and young plants? Let me know in the comments π±π I'd love to make my own mixes one day with my own homemade compost but unfortunately I don't have a good enough system in place currently! π
