Update on the cutting patch 🌸

Tomorrow we open for the first of my Pick Your Own Summer Sessions 🌸✂️💐

I’ve been a busy bee here getting the cutting patch ready for opening, changing things around, planting out & weeding etc. Still a lot more to do but all working progress over the coming months.

Finally after having some good weather ☀️ , lots of flowers are starting to peek through & get going!
I’ve added a lot of perennials & shrubs this year which will continue to get bigger each year & producing an abundance of gorgeous flowers!
Last year’s perennials are loving the south facing sun & have grown huge this year ie. Giant Scabious & Feverfew

My Dahlia selection has more than doubled, they are starting to flower & will get bigger blooms as the season goes on…i cannot wait I love dahlias! 😍
I’ve gone mad on the amount of annuals I’ve sown too 😅 so expect to see a crazy amount of flowers & pictures 😂

We still have a pest issue but it’s a continuous management & doing my best to deter them 🐭🐁🐿️🐌 fingers crossed they don’t get anymore of my plants!

All workshops for the rest of the year are also now launched and online dare I even mention the C word already 🎄🎅🏼👀😅 (get in there asap they filled up FAST)

Weekly bunches will be as always in the Thornbridge Estate Emporium every Fri-Sunday from 11am

To celebrate British Flowers Week this week I want to announce the first lot of Pick Your Own Sessions for summer

I'll be opening to the public for Summer Pick Your Own Sessions 29th June all being well 🤞

Sessions will be available every Thursday & Saturday 11-1pm till September and available to book via my website or link in bio 🔗

Now the weather is on the up there has been SO much to do down in the field!

Lots of planting out, moving perennials and shrubs, getting the grass under control 😅 and never ending weeding to be done so keep an eye on stories for updates how it's going on!

I'll be running weekend slots where I can also accept walk ins and happy to run private group bookings - so drop me a message if this is something you'd like to do 🌸✂️💐

I’ve teamed up with Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society to run a ‘Pop Up Flower Bar’ for Bakewell Country Festival 14th July at Bakewell Showground

Come join me for your flower fix where you can make a small hand-tied or posy to take home and enjoy 💐

You’ll often find me wandering around mostly dressed in camo trousers (so I don’t get spotted snipping the odd flower from the formal gardens) 👀😅🤫 or down in my cutting patch doing all things related to flower farming

🌷Spring Pick Your Own 🌷

Following on from the recent post about Mother Nature taking its course with my Tulips this season🌷🐭🐿️

I’m very sad to say unfortunately I’ve decided NOT to open for Spring Pick Your Own as I’ve lost the vast majority of my tulips 😔🌷and feel I can’t give the full experience I’d love to provide down in my cutting patch!

I will however have weekly bunches and Friday Flowers available for sale and any private orders still come in. You can find what’s available in Thornbridge Estate Plant Sales or simply drop me a message to order your weekly fix of Spring Blooms 💐🥰

As I said on my other post I will not let this defeat me so next year will be bigger & better with new creative ways to deter them little 🐭🐿️

I will be open for Summer Pick Your Own sessions this year so keep eyes peeled for when that is announced. 🌼🌻💐

You can't compete against Mother Nature...

So i’ve some sad news from my cutting patch to you all...unfortunately mother nature has taken its course more so this year down in my cutting patch than any other year yet for me. As my cutting patch in within a lower field more out of the way, I’ve found I’ve got serious rodent issue along with the awful weather which has devastatingly eaten and rotted the vast majority of my Pick Your Own Tulip bulbs.

I've taken extreme measures to catch the 🤬 with a proper wildlife camera 😅😂 along with different natural/organic measures to deter/terminate them and salvage what I have left!

With this being said my Spring Pick Your Own Sessions will be a last minute decision to open or not 🤞

It will be a first come first serve basis with limited choice of whatever has not been eaten until I open again for my Summer PYO sessions!

If I cannot open for my Spring PYO whatever is salvageable and good enough to sell will be picked and for sale in bunches and weekly Friday Flowers here Thornbridge Estate Emporium

I am determined to not let Mother Nature win and will be open next 2025 Spring bigger and better with new ways to deter 🐭🐁🐿️

The story behind 'The Never Ordinary Sprout Wreath'

There is a tradition in our family that every Christmas Eve we go down to Bakewell to do last minute shopping and a mini pub crawl. Mum one year bought a stork of Brussel Sprouts an handed us each some and told us to go hide them in the most bizarre place you could find....it could be in a pub loo, on top of a lamp post or on a bench etc you name it, its probably been done! There were no prizes just simply to hide it for someone else to find, this tradition has stuck and will continue on for years to come. As Thornbridge's moto is 'Never Ordinary' I felt I had to create a Brussel Sprout wreath. 🎄⭐️

The adrenaline has only just wore off after yesterday's final festive wreath workshop and what an incredible way to end! 🎄🥧🍷

Thank you everyone who came and who has also been to my other workshops over the last few weeks ☺️ it's been an extremely fun filled busy few weeks and I'd loved every minute of it!

I kicked off the festive season by my first ever Christmas Wreath Workshop here Thornbridge Estate yesterday🎄🥧🍷 Everyone's wreaths were beautiful and it was a fantastic fun filled morning with these lovely ladies ☺️

All greenery foraged off the estate here at Thornbridge, Mince Pies made by The bakehouse-cakes,pies,puds here again on site
