Today I am at Weston Manor in Oxfordshire for their wedding showcase 11am-3pm.
I remember this wedding a few years back there where the bride had these amazing shoes. 500 weddings later I’ve never seen a pair of shoes like it with ‘Ever After’ written on the back and Disney castles on the sides!

‘EXHALE’

A number of my lovely insta followers have asked me to post a full sized image of the photograph that won me International Monochrome Photographer of the Year 2024 for so here it is.

I’m still totally humbled to have won this as my 3 fellow finalists had such beautifully crafted monochrome images I was convinced one of them would win and I would be “close..but no cigar Mr Bostock” :)

The backstory of this image is that it was taken on a dive trip to the Northern Red Sea, Egypt wreck of the Giannis D.

My dive buddy hovered over the mast that was pointing out horizontally as the ship was lying on its side. The sunlight rays you can see entering at the top of the image are responsible for backlighting the plume of scuba bubbles as the diver exhaled. The diver gives a sense of scale.

Shot with Canon EOS 5Dmk3 camera in a Nauticam 5DSR housing with 8-inch Nauticam glass dome port on a 15mm f/2.8 Sigma fisheye lens and available light only.

The loss of the Giannis D…
The Captain had turned over the helm to one of his junior officers and retired to his cabin to rest. Soon afterwards he was rudely awakened by the sound of his ship running aground.
It appeared that the Giannis D had drifted west of her set course and ran aground at full speed on the northwest edge of the Sha’ab Abu Nuhas Reef.

If you haven’t yet checked out The Manor at Weston as a possible wedding venue and you are looking for a Manor House style venue in Oxfordshire then you really should do (in my humble opinion!)

I was there last week for a networking event and the refurbishment is totally beautiful and feels really high end.
Come and say hi to me at the Wedding Fayre there run by Guides For Brides this coming Sunday. I will be exhibiting and showcasing some gorgeous Real Weddings in my Queensberry wedding albums.
Open 11am-3pm, Free Admission…. see you there!

Was chatting to a lovely couple last night who have chosen a castle in England for their wedding ceremony later this year. It reminded me of the wedding I did at stunning Leeds Castle in Kent a few years ago.

A castle has existed on the site since 857. In the 13th century, it came into the hands of King Edward I, for whom it became a favourite residence; in the 16th century, Henry VIII used it as a dwelling for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon.
The present castle dates mostly from the early 19th century

What a backdrop for a wedding!

So almost exactly a week ago I was very excited to walk around and be inspired by an exhibition of some of the most jaw dropping photography from some of the world’s top photographers.

There was every genre of photography showcased from Advertising & Commercial through to Weddings.

What made it such a proud moment for me was I had 6 photographs hanging in the exhibition that had been awarded the scores required to be included in the exhibition.

1 from Wedding Reportage,
1 from Monochrome
4 from The Natural World with my underwater work.

The 20×16″ Print Competition, held during this year’s convention, showcased a fantastic range of entries, with 584 global submissions for this prestigious competition.

As a follow up to yesterday’s post when I asked the bride McKayla which were her personal absolute fave photos from her incredible wedding day to Jathaniel that I photographed just before Christmas at Hedsor House.

This is what she said about this pre-ceremony image in her own words….

“You captured the beauty of the dress in all its glory as well as the bouquet so I really really love this picture!! And I thinked it looked more natural because I wasn’t really trying to pose”

There were so many breathtaking images from the wedding of McKayla & Jathaniel that I photographed just before Christmas at Hedsor House so I asked the bride McKayla which were here absolute faves from the day.

In December this year less than 2 weeks ago I photographed three beautiful weddings all completely different with 3 different ceremonies and 6 different wedding outfits for the 3 brides!
An Asian Nikah ceremony followed by a Western civil ceremony, a religious blessing and finally a catholic ceremony in a catholic church.
As I head into editing these here are just 4 sneaky peeks from each.

So today is my last wedding of 2024 and what a year it’s been!
What an incredible venue to do my final 2024 wedding at, the stunning Cliveden House which at this time of the year is Christmas personified with roaring fires, soft lighting and a huge Xmas tree in the Great Hall. I was looking back and this years and last years weddings and realised I was here almost exactly a year ago on a very similar day weather-wise, cold but mainly dry! A few photos from that wedding here.
Tomorrow it’s picking up the Xmas food and really hunking down for a quiet lovely Xmas but right now the cameras are ready and I’m just about to go and see Lola the bride!

Champagne anyone?
Sneaky Peek Alert….
Literally just 27 hours ago I took this of M & J at their wedding outside Hedsor House. Yes I got drenched in champagne alongside videographer Paul but the chance to create an energy filled image like this was too good to pass up!

A Christmas wedding at Cliveden House with those roaring fireplaces, soft warm lighting and the legendary tree in the great hall what could be better. Super excited to be shooting another one there on 21st December which will be my last wedding of 2024, I can almost smell those beautiful fireplaces and the woodsmoke.
What a year of incredible weddings

Before I start posting some of my faves from the 2024 Wedding season I thought I’d post a last underwater image from my exciting trip last month to the Red Sea.

Delighted to be awarded a Highly Commended in the Natural World category for this image captured last month at Sataya Dolphin Reef in the Southern Red Sea

It was such a privilege to get so close to these pods of Spinner Dolphins, I’ve never been so lucky in the past.
An absolute bonus was a couple of babies I felt like an onlooker in Finding Nemo!

My Story

Stylish, Subtle, Stunning Award Winning Wedding Photography across Oxfordshire, Bucks, Berkshire, London and worldwide. It’s safe to say that I know a thing or two about nuptials. As a wedding photographer with many years’ experience and having photographed well over 450 weddings and numerous designer bridal fashion shoots, as well as being a respected photography industry judge, it’s safe to say that I know my Suzanne Neville from my Jenny Packham, my peep toe from my court, and my birdcage from my cathedral (veils!).

Based on the border of Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire, my award-winning wedding photography business, David Bostock Photography, is the quintessential choice for the discerning and particular bride who wants to create a set of photographs that evoke beauty, fun and a genuine sense of emotional sincerity.

An occasion that affords an expanse of creative licence and the invitation to capture truly unique moments on the most important of days, weddings lend themselves perfectly to my knack for dramatic, beautiful, perfectly-timed photography. My work has been praised as ‘elegant’, ‘exceptional’ and even ‘disarming’, but they say a picture’s worth a thousand words so I’ll let my images do the talking.

In order to devote the proper amount of attention to each wedding, I take a limited number of appointments each year, so always advise booking well in advance of your big day. Looking forward to meeting you.
