We started this business on a foundation of passionate family cooking back in 2016. Our love for pizza stems from generations and generations of authentic and traditional outdoor cooking. Sandy Mama’s Kitchen is mobile pizzeria which can be set up in almost any location, rain or shine. Working directly with you, we will provide a formal or informal style of catering which is perfect for your event.

“Great food and service by the whole team. Eva was so personable throughout. All my guests commented on how tasty the food was… we ordered kebabs, chicken wings, Papri Chaat, chilli paneer and Jiko pizzas with chips and salad. Every single dish went down a treat. We are a foodie family!

About 7 years ago, I had experienced a massive burnout whilst I was training to become a hospital doctor. I took time out, got married, travelled and tried to see life from a different perspective.

I knew I always wanted to start a business but wasn’t sure what in. I’ve always had this inner drive to improve, be better, be successful. One day, my father in law said “why don’t you start catering? We have all the equipment anyway”. So that’s when we first started.

Since then, I decided to go back to full time training and become a GP, whilst in the background try and pick up catering orders. I relied on word of mouth and “seeing how it goes” rather than any concrete advertising. People started whispering “gosh she’s quit her job to do catering” and “she doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life” etc. As a team, we kept trying, we kept building. We have certainly had a lot of ups and downs but we have learnt so much together in the process.

Our Business has gone from strength to strength. We have grown together and supported each other. Over the years I’ve engaged and learnt from other members of ProfessionalAsian and Small Businesses.

I am still a full time GP.. Being a medic is who I am, but I am also creative, imaginative and innovative. Building my own business has given me this opportunity.

I named our family catering business after my Father-In-Law, mainly because he was the one person who didn’t laugh at my ideas and he was the one person who inspired me to make a change. If you are reading this and thinking about starting your own business (whatever that might be), here is my advice:

⭐️ Stop dreaming and start doing!
⭐️ To be successful, you need to be passionate about something!
⭐️ Mistakes will happen, but don’t let it put you down - learn from them!
⭐️ Always keep challenging yourself!
⭐️ Finally, don’t worry about what people think of you - You will always find people who will support and encourage you!

I still often get clients asking me what a Jiko is!

A Jiko is basically a charcoal cylindrical oven which has slots to cook food in, usually home-made pizzas, originally from Kenya.

It’s lightweight and portable, and it can actually roast, steam, toast and bake! We of course, use it mainly for cooking the Pizzas, but also roast potatoes, garlic bread and lots of other dishes.

The charcoal cooks the pizzas from both top and bottom, resulting in a thin crispy base, and a melting bbq-flavoured cooked top. Trust me, when you have had one of these, you will become addicted!

We own several Jikos, so can cater for larger crowds and events.

Going above and beyond to deliver - that is what we are all about!

I’ve always had this inner psychological urge to overdeliver and impress, probably one of the reasons why I became a doctor…

At the age of 16 I thought “what is the best and most secure career I can choose?” Of course, I’ve always loved caring for others and naturally I thought medicine was the best fit.

“Sandy Mama’s Kitchen catered our intimate Hindu wedding ceremony early this year and were fantastic. Their food was delicious and they set everything up quickly and efficiently, as well as it all looking beautiful. We went for the veg pizza package plus the chilli paneer, Hara bara kebabs and papri chaat - All of which was absolutely delicious!
