What an awesome day at Curborough yesterday! The weather was super favourable towards us. But what really makes the days amazing is the group of wonderful people and their cars 😁

Car of the day is:
Paul Hanlon’s BMW M3 Touring Competition

I was fortunate enough to be taken out on a passenger lap and this car is a machine! Paul has a habit of bringing a different car to each of my track days. I think this is the best of the bunch. And I understand he’s planning to keep it for a while. A perfect daily and track car 😎

We've had a false start! My track day at Curborough on Friday 25th October is now on Saturday 16th November. A weekend!

A consistent theme throughout 2024 has been the difficulty filling spaces at my weekday track days. My first three dates of the year were weekends and sold out.

I'll be taking this into consideration when planning for 2025.

Good morning

I hope you're having a great weekend!

My next private track day is at Curborough on Friday 30th August 2024. It will run from 10am to 5pm (with a one hour stop for lunch).

The price is £150 per car and £25 per additional driver and £10 per passenger.

We will be using the full course and an Autotest/Autosolo layout will be set up too. There will be no more than 10 cars in attendance.

This is a rare opportunity to experience the full course at Curborough (not at a sprint). And with entries limited to 10 cars, you’ll get a serious number of laps in!

As is now tradition, here’s car of the day from Three Sisters:

Mike Fernie’s MG ZS

Mike let me take it for a few laps. The rumble from the V6 was addictive. It almost gave the same warbling feeling of a V8. And after flailing my MG ZR around Three Sisters last year, the MG ZS was a revelation in terms of FWD handling.

Close runner up for car of the day was Mike Drinkwater’s Citroen Xsara (sadly I don’t have a decent picture of it) An impressive dark horse!

The weather was glorious on Thursday when we had our track day at Blyton Park 😎

Our car of the day was The Thompson’s Ford Es**rt 🏆

The Es**rt was built by Andrew & Chris Thompson from a clean solid low mileage 1980 V plate 1300 Popular Plus model for Sprint & Hillclimb racing & used between 1986-1993. It has been garage stored since then other than the odd village car show. It was out for the first time in over 30 years and the experience was shared by six members of the family 😁

Thank you to everyone that was a part of the day. It’s you that makes them awesome! 💪

Despite having to take the Aygo rather than the VX220, Lewis Smales and I had an awesome day at Blyton Park Driving Centre with Frank's Charity Track Day Club - FCTDC.

It managed more than the two overtakes that Tom Taylor predicted!

Dare I say it? The weather is looking good for my track day at Blyton Park next week. And we have a few places left if you’d like to book on.

Still on a high from yesterday’s track day at Curborough or wishing you could have been there? Don’t miss out on our next track day at Blyton Park! 🏎️🏁

Over the years, I’ve organised these in Winter due to the lower hiring costs. They have been plagued with the worst possible track conditions: rain, snow and fog. And everyone whinges that it’s cold 🥶 Hence, we’re trying a Summer day this year. I appreciate it’s a little more expensive. But the increase is less proportionally than the increase in hire costs. And overall, I’m confident it will be a better value day 💪

Who wants the best view of some serious driving talent at Coventry Motofest this weekend?

Loughborough Car Club Ltd are running an Autosolo on the Saturday and Autotest on the Sunday.

The Autotest is a round of the national championship, which attracts the best competitors from the UK.

Coventry Motofest Autotest is a unique event where not only do competitors have to slide theirs cars through and around cones but also avoid the big concrete pillars. A true spectacle of skill.

Richard Egger would be very grateful if anyone could help with marshalling this weekend. You will have the very best view of the Autotest. And honestly, it’s brilliant to watch and be a part of.
