These Christmas lights cost £6,000 to put up and £40 a week in electricity bills, but I believe they are worth every penny, because the rest of the street donates money for me to give to charity in return. unds to the Make A Wish Foundation, and I hope to raise even more. I have to start putting the Christmas lights up earlier and earlier each year as I get more and more. I absolutely love doing it. I love Christmas and I love raising money for charity. I urge people to come along, enjoy the lights and give a donation. It’s all for a great cause. Everyone is just amazed by my work. The community comes especially to have a look. They can’t believe how good it is. The front of the house takes the longest to decorate. I start thinking about the light display in August. A lot of planning goes into the switch-on event. I’ve got thousands of bulbs – you’re probably looking at 20,000 bulbs at least.
