Second day of my Palermo Anniversary adventure was all about traditional food.
I started the day with a big fat pistachio croissant.
They like their pistachio and for a change there were lots of pistachios in it, not some green substitute.
Coloured almonds is often used in the uk to "bulk".
With sugar and carbs I had 3 espresso and a cappuccino just so I could use all the buttons on the coffee machine 😂

After breakfast we did lots of culture, which is not hard around here as there is something spectacular on every corner.

Lunch was going to be a long affair as we knew we would have to eat everything on the menu 😋
We went to Trattoria del Massimo a family run traditional place specialising in traditional Sicilian dishes.

We could not have all the starters so they made a "compilation board".
It included; oysters, squid, octopus, a sort of sardine fish ball, (the best I have had), swordfish, cod, mussels cooked in tomato, garlic and herbs, a raw fish hash (for the lack of a better word)
All of it out of the sea 5 hours earlier, some of it still practically blinking 😉

The Sicilian pasta speciality is "Sardine pasta" made with onion, garlic, fennel, sardines, anchovies, raisins and saffron.
Then topped with spiced breadcrumbs.
This was AMAZING.

We were now a bit full so we shared a veal cheeks and mashed potato. Equally good and melt in the mouth.
I washed all the food down with large amounts of Sicilian Grillo.
Yum!
Now the restaurant was closing down we had to roll down the street to take in some more sites.
We slowly moved through the early evening and in to the night moving from place to place.
Until we ended up at our "local"
Absolutely amazing cocktail bar with our amazing mixologist Peppino.
He is the "Heston" of cocktails and infuses all his own potions and alcohol.
He even had a salmon Vodka he had infused for 3 weeks, it was like liquid fish, absolutely mad!
His cocktails where the best I have ever had and I have had a lot of cocktails in my life 😜

Today we are moving on to Gourmet dining so I will let you know about that later.

Morning my lovelies,
So, I have been whisked off to Palermo.
This week I have been married for 20 years. I know you are all thinking, how, why, who?! 😂
Once upon a time my husband thought I was a catch and the rest is history...
Bloody hard work marriage, but worth it.
I am sure plenty of you know.
Anyway, my husband has taken me to Palermo. I have always wanted to come here and it is not holding back.
I am in love with this place of organised chaos but i am even more in love with the food which is off the chart!
Yesterday was a day of street food.
The rules are it has to be fast, fried and carb heavy. It was all absolute filth!
I had Pani ca' Meusa - Spleen sandwich, beef spleen cooked in lard. Served in a seeded brioche bun.
Aranchini - rice balls filled with something tasty.
Anchovy and cheese focaccia
Brioche con Gelato - Sicilian ice cream sandwich
And Pizza obviously.
It is a full time job to eat everything I need to eat so I will plough on today...🤣😂
On another unrelated note. This week on Saturday I will be at Knowle Artisan Market, Station Road, Knowle, Solihull B93 0NA.
It's only on a couple of times a year.
I hope you are coming to see me.

In a field in the rain this morning !
The last couple of weeks have been mad!
My first online booking for 1k.
My largest event booking at 3.5k and record day yesterday in Oxford when I took £740 card payments.
Wow everyone, I feel like my hard work is paying off.
I am very great full that you are spending your hard earned money on my food 🙏
I am today having a day off so I can do the washing, cleaning and run the errands we all have to run on or days off!
I quite like having Mondays off.
This week, Thursday evening ,I am in Stourton cv36 .
Saturday I will be in Warwick.

Went to IKEA today as my middle daughter is now also leaving me to go to University.
I found this in the food hall and I nearly cried with excitement.
I moved from home at 16.
In Sweden we don't do ready meals but this was one thing you could buy in the freezer section.
As I was responsible for my self at that age I ate this Blueberry pie morning, noon and night, because it is delicious and because I could 🤣
I left Sweden at 16 1/2 and moved to England by myself, no family, I knew no one.
After that my diet changed 😊
This IKEA visit I bought 2 of these beauties. I am planning to eat them both by myself 😂.
Will bring me back to the joys of being a self sufficient "adult"

Home made DAIM bar.
You may not have known that this beauty is Swedish?
Swedish beauties can be a surprise.
I make mine with double cream, sugar and golden syrup.
To make it "extra" I roast a range of nuts including pistachios before I chop those and add at the end.
If you want to try a nutty Swedish beauty 😉 you can get your own at Deddington farmers market this Saturday.
Or you can get your fix online.

This mornings catch.
Not sure what wizardry happened during 24 hours but I got 7kg of crayfish all over 21cm!
Better keep that bait going.
Yes, I catch the crayfish and I cook it.
Can't get anymore local and green.

I have been making these beauties most of the day today.
Everyone wants them for their events in the next week or so as they are the perfect ending/ middle/ anytime, slap in the face!
A pure energy ball!
They are called Choklad bollar or chocolate balls to those of you not conversant in Swedish.
As a Swedish child this is the first thing you learn to make as it is no bake.
As you all know by now I have to make everything "extra".
My choklad bollar have, salted butter, jumbo organic oats, organic high quality cocoa powder, less sugar than normal and espresso to give it an extra kick then rolled in coconut.
More of a grown up ball.
I do have a few cyclists that buy these in bulk for the bum pocket as it is, I quote;
Everything we need.
If you want a little Swedish slap in the face this weekend and you are not attending any of the crayfish events we are catering, we will be in Deddington this Saturday
You can always come there for your fix.
You can get your own supply and no sharing will be necessary...........😉
