Do join us for our service on Sunday at 9:30am where we remember the Patriarchs. Don't forget there is also our Advent Antiphons service at 6pm, which is a service by candle-light with readings and hymns for Advent.

It is the start of the liturgical year and it is a time for reflection and for renewal of hope. It is a season of expectation and preparation as the Church prepares to celebrate the coming of Christ.

Do please be aware that currently there are scammers emailing people pretending to be clergy (do check senders email address).

The first message typically reads something like "[name], are you free at the moment?" or it may be more detailed, such as "Do you have a moment I have a request I need you to handle discreetly. I am currently busy... so no calls just reply to my email."

A reply then draws the recipient into a dialogue in which they are encouraged to buy vouchers, and ultimately send images of their serial and security numbers to the fraudster.

If you think you have received one of these messages please report it to the police via their non-emergency line 101. We are here to help as well, and you can contact us on our official email addresses found on the website. If in doubt you can always ask the Rector!

For further information see here:

It's doing the rounds again: church office holders including churchwardens, treasurers, archdeacons, clergy and diocesan staff, have received fraudulent messages by email or text impersonating colleagues, starting a conversation that ends asking the recipient to spend money typically on vouchers and...

Do please join us for our service tomorrow at 9:30am. All are welcome!

This Sunday we celebrate the 'feast of All Saints'. All Saints’ Day celebrates men and women in whose lives the Church as a whole has seen the grace of God powerfully at work. It is an opportunity to give thanks for that grace, and for the wonderful ends to which it shapes a human life; it is a time to be encouraged by the example of the saints and to recall that sanctity may grow in the ordinary circumstances, as well as the extraordinary crises, of human living.

Today is All Souls’ Day, a day when we commemorate all the faithful departed.

Whether someone you know has died recently or long ago, lighting a candle can often help us pause, pray and think of them for a few moments. If you can't get to a church for our 8pm service this evening, you can still light a candle at home, or online via the Church of England website.

Light a candle online to pray for yourself, for a loved one or for a situation.

Tomorrow we Commemorate the Faithful Departed during our service at 8pm. In this service we celebrate the local saints who have witnessed to Christ in this place. It allows us to remember with thanksgiving before God those whom we have known more directly: those who gave us life, or who nurtured us in faith.

Did you know Morning Prayer is said daily in the Church?

During which prayer is said for the Parish, the congregation, and those who have asked for prayer. Today prayer was also given for all those who work in the medical profession in the Parish.

Drawing together wisdom from ancient Christian practices, these contemplative toolkits provide an invaluable way to slow down in these busy times. There toolkits can be used by all the church family.

The toolkit follows five key practices. The summary sheets, suitable for enquirers and also those with an established faith, are shown below.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has released a brief statement this evening... "This is an appalling and devastating loss of innocent lives. The Ahli hospital is run by the Anglican church. I mourn with our brothers and sisters - please pray for them. I renew my appeal for civilians to be protected in this devastating war. May the Lord God have mercy."

All of us will have been deeply moved by the atrocities and the unfolding tragedy in Israel and Gaza. Jeremiah will speak for many of us as we reflect on the suffering on all sides of the conflict:

“O that my head were a spring of water and my eyes a fountain of tears so that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people”.

The Secretary General of the Anglican Communion, Bishop Anthony Poggo, has called on Anglicans around the world to join a global ecumenical day of prayer and fasting on Tuesday 17 October in response to the ongoing conflict in the Holy Land.

"We pray without ceasing for justice, reconciliation, peace, and an end to hatred and war. We also pray for God to change the hearts of all leaders and decision-makers in our countries and around the world. For we are in dire need or hearts that love, show mercy, and are willing to live in unity with others – hearts that respect human dignity and choose life rather than death." Archbishop Hosam Naoum

With love in Christ

The Rt Revd Dr Steven Croft, Bishop of Oxford
