The Art of Marriage

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created. In marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world. It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.

It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner; it is being the right partner.

Just over a year ago I had the pleasure of creating a bespoke service for the lovely Mr and Mrs Hardman they got married officially during Covid but wanted to hold a service where they could celebrate with their family and friends.

I am hearing this more and more that couples are having to get married at a time chosen by the registrar , rather than a time to suit them.

This is happening because the registrars are very busy so why not do the legal bit at a time to suit you and then employ me a celebrant to make your wedding ceremony into the occasion you have always dreamed of and the best bit at a time to suit you .

Your special day is too important to make sacrifices, I can tailor the day to you , weave a story to embrace all the special things and people in your life and add things to your day that a registrar simply cannot do.

I started this business just before lockdown occurred and had two bookings but then Covid appeared and everything including my own vow renewal ceremony was put into limbo but at last the end is in site.

The government issued new advice for weddings yesterday only weddings of 30 people or less can go ahead from the 4th July 2020 finding it hard to reduce your guest list why not do the legal side this year at the register office and have a celebrant led ceremony next year. I promise you, your guests will not know the difference unless you tell them. Drop me a line if you want to know more
