'Home is a feeling not a place and this is a feeling some of us have not felt for a long time. Imagine you would never see the street you grew up on again, never see those you have loved and then lost and never again smell the local flowers. No one chooses to make these dangerous journeys. No one chooses to be a refugee' – power phrased words from a Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP) member.

This week I ran Migrant Help's Building Bridges conference, bringing people in the sector together to talk about how we can work together.

This event has been a career highlight for me. Not because it ran smoothly and to plan (which it did! 😁) but because of the people I get to surround myself with and the stories I get to hear from people who have overcome such adversity with unbelievable courage, resilience and strength.

The biggest impact for me was having members LEAP there telling their own stories and using their voices to share how meaningful co-production can enhance the work we do.

Such moving words, reminding us of what matters. So much still to reflect on from this brilliant day…

It was great to work on the 'Bags of Hope' art installation last week as part of Refugee Week with Migrant Help. The bags represent how refugees often leave home with nothing but what they can carry on their backs and their hopes and dreams for the future. The tags on the bags tell the real stories of our clients and their own hopes and dreams. This was such a moving project - thanks to everyone involved! ❤️

Come and celebrate World Refugee Day and Refugee Week by seeing this amazing art display at London South Bank this week, (near the National Theatre). We'll be there until 6pm Wednesday!

Last week, I was immensely proud to run an event which launched the 60th anniversary of 's work. This amazing charity supports and empowers refugees, asylum seekers and victims of modern slavery to rebuild their stolen lives and thrive as individuals here in the UK. The evening was incredibly moving and consisted of inspiring speakers sharing their stories, amazing guests wanting to help build on our vision and of course, spectacular views of London (thank you to BT for donating the venue to us - London never looked so good!) 👏🎉🤩

The BT Tower in London have kindly donated us their venue for the night to raise some life changing funds for displaced people, as well as sharing our important message on humanity on their infoband. Very excited to be starting a new contract today with the amazing charity - Migrant Help UK, as their Event Coordinator. This year is the charities 60th year running and I will be leading on coordinating a program of events over the course of 2023. Can’t wait to get started and to contribute to such an important cause

And it's a wrap! Today I finish my contract with Marmalade Trust. I am so proud to have been the Events Coordinator on this project, bringing joy and cheer on Christmas Day by organising events across 10 venues for 126 people in the local area who would otherwise have spent it alone. We also had 77 doorstep visits for those who couldn't leave the house. That means the project reached 203 people, all of which received a hamper which I proudly sourced with donations from so many amazing people and organisations in Bristol! The project has been so rewarding and a different but amazing Christmas Day. I thank Marmalade Trust for all I have learnt and for having me as part of the team! 🥰👏🎉

Such a fun day out cleaning the beach at Weston-Super-Mare for Surfers Against Sewage with an amazing team of volunteers. Just to top off a fab day, we got to see the incredible See Monster art installation on Weston Beach Monster. If you haven't been I highly recommend you get down there - it's an amazing, inclusive space that is a must-see!

Christmas comes early when you're working with Marmalade Trust! Marmalade Trust is a loneliness charity based in Bristol, supporting those experiencing chronic loneliness. I am working with this amazing charity on their Christmas Cheer Project, organising Christmas Day events and gifts for those people in Bristol who would otherwise spend Christmas alone.

Can you help by donating something to our hampers? For some members, this is the only gift they will receive. Today I received our hamper boxes, these will be decorated and hopefully filled with donated goodies by you wonderful people and delivered by our volunteers on Christmas Day.

As I do my last few months part time with my corporate role (on my way to becoming fully freelance) I am proud to have Project Managed another successful Wellbeing Week. An incredible well done to the team who raised nearly £14,000 on a 28 mile trek for the British Heart Foundation. An amazing bunch of humans!
