📣 INTRODUCING 📣

Panel 2, on developments in music technology:

‘The Future Of Music Technology And What's Next For Music?’

Host - Saul is the founder of Echo World, an independent creative cooperative that celebrates online music culture. Currently the number 1 source for beat-making content in the UK right now, with their community growing by a huge 150,000 followers worldwide in the last 2 years. They have built Eco World from the ground up, as a cooperative that focuses less on DJ's, singer-songwriters, and other pro music cliches and instead on a more diverse range of personalities and styles. Their current output includes hosting weekly events, competitions, and opening their own event space in Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Knowle! To find out more head to echoworld.co on your browser or Instagram, or echoworldco on Tiktok.

Panelists - Chiara Tedeschi aka Ef Kia is an Italian music producer and Dj based in Bristol. She co-founded OwM sound, a label focused on bass music, and Belladonna Collective, a freshly founded group of women and non-binary people making and playing underground music.
Her love for 140 and Dubstep flourished after moving to Bristol in 2018 to study Music Production at BIMM and has led her to hold shows on Noods, Subtle, and Longthrow radio among others.
EF KIA single "Shame" came out on the 27th March on Reloaded Sounds, and she has another single getting released on Genre Fluid in April.

'Dr.' Riaan Vosloo was a founding member of the band Nostalgia 77, as well as a co-founder of the label Impossible Ark records. He has credits on a host of album and commercial projects working as a bass player, arranger, composer and producer. Riaan also has a diverse portfolio of film, television and commercial composition credits including Invincible and Unorthodox.

Zachary Diaz is a PhD Student in Musicology at the University of Bristol. His doctoral dissertation focuses on the music of the late hip-hop producer J Dilla. Zach is also a hip-hop producer himself, having released several instrumental hip-hop projects under the Manchester-based record label Beatsupply and Bristol-based label Echo World

📣 INTRODUCING 📣

Panel 1, on diversity and inclusivity in the music industry:

‘The Space You Deserve: Transforming Stigmas’

Host - Clara Maria White is a graduate of BIMM professional vocals and is on a continuous journey of self-identification. Her mixed-race identity created a sense of groundless existence. Self-reflection and exploration let her realise she was not torn between two identities, but instead becoming a third - her unique self. This important realisation catalysed a wave of self-acceptance.
Though she has yet to find her own sound, she is a member of various choirs, singing to uncover more about her relationship with herself, where music becomes both the facilitator and outlet.

Panelists - Bashema is a singer, songwriter and composer from Bristol who mixes pop, jazz, blues and classical piano playing with an expressive and powerful vocal style.

Keeley is co-founder of Longthrow Radio, an independent online station born during the pandemic and founded on an ethos of inclusion and accessibility. They have worked alongside projects such as Error Music in Berlin; an initiative encouraging young women, non-binary and transgender people to explore technology and music. They are an active gigging DJ in the Bristol scene, playing under their alias sadsugar.

Rachel is the drummer in Manchester based band, Peaness.
The trio have played together since summer 2015 and with a strong DIY ethic have gone on to play with bands such as Maximo Park and The Cribs; alongside playing festivals such as Green Man, and 2000 Trees.
Peaness debut album is due to be released May 6th 2022 on their own label 'Totally Snick Records', with support from PRS and Arts Council England.

Saaaz is a Bristol-based female producer and DJ. With features in Redbull, Vice and Bristol in Stereo she has been making waves since she entered the scene in 2017, now being the first UK female artist to release a lofihiphop album on vinyl (Mood, her latest LP). Experienced in production and performance, she also collaboratively runs Echo World, a record label and platform for online music culture, alongside brand founder Injijo.

Our event Sonic Horizons will be raising support and funds to aid the crisis going on in Ukraine via Choose Love and United Help Ukraine.

Choose Love is a UK-based non-governmental organization that was started in 2015 which provides humanitarian aid to, and advocacy for, refugees around the world.

United Help Ukraine is a non-profit charity that was started in 2014 aiming to help the people of Ukraine in difficult times. Donations made go towards medical supplies, monetary grants, shipping of goods to internally displaced Ukrainians and refugees, support for the wounded and their families, and raising awareness through rallies and cultural events aimed to bring attention to Ukraine’s struggle for freedom and independence.

In these times of hardship, it's important to understand our privileges in life and raise support for people less fortunate. That's why all of us here at Sonic Horizons feel strongly about helping out and raising awareness in any way that we can.

There will be someone from our team on the day providing information about these organizations so you can join us in helping the people of Ukraine. Furthermore, you can donate directly on the United Help Ukraine and Choose Love websites where you can find more information on these charities.

📣 INTRODUCING 📣

Combining her own take on pop and country, Casey Ball has shown that she wears her bleeding heart on her sleeve. With a touch of sweetness and a pinch of fire, she has been writing songs that can make the strongest of lovers fall in love again, and the wildest of flowers blossom.

📣 INTRODUCING 📣

James Kitchen attempts to recontextualise Arcade Fire’s classic but overlooked 2007 sophomore album Neon Bible. Lyrical themes such as unwanted technological advances, guerrilla terrorism and general apocalyptic fears are being brought to head during a far more volatile 2020’s audience. The initial grandiose music of Arcade Fire is transformed into a cold and aggressive attack on the senses. Not to be missed!

📣 INTRODUCING 📣

Since 2019 Cuffs have spent their time relentlessly gigging. Honing their craft and building a strong reputation as a chaotic live band. During 2021 CUFFS performed alongside the likes of Bob Vylan, Haggard Cat, Death Goals and El Moono with performances at Attitude and Turbulence festivals.

The punks who call themselves CUFFS will inspire you to take action, question the system around you, and have a damn good time while you do it. With drilling riffs, heavy beats and lyrics fuelled by angst and social frustration.

Coming from different parts of the UK (Devon, Gloucester, and Wales), Brodie Morgans (vocals), Lewis Harwood (drums), Will Kenneth (Bass) and Matthew Cook (Guitar), have collaborated their influences to give you the newest sound in the UK punk scene.
