When it comes to planning an eco-friendly wedding we think location is key. If you can find a venue that can hold both the ceremony and reception to avoid extra travel, that’s a great start. 🎉

Another good way to keep your carbon footprint down is to find venues that have permanent infrastructures, so there is no need for extra transport for constructions like tipi's or marquees.

Every wedding is different and individual. 👰🤵

Getting married or having your reception at The Longhouse, enables you to make your day unique. You can plan the order of your day, choose the decorations, other wedding suppliers and even the wine. This will ensure your wedding is just the way you want it.

In order to give you time to enjoy the wedding preparation, we provide full access, in the late afternoon of the day before the wedding, to the Longhouse and grounds. Just look how beautiful the grounds are! 😍

Weddings have been held at the Longhouse all year around since it opened in 2005. The Longhouse's adaptability means no season is left out. Spring, summer, autumn or even winter.

☀️ For summer, the full outside space is a must! The picturesque oak gazebo is perfect for a civil ceremony, followed by drinks on the lawn.

🌈 As for spring and autumn, we can offer a flexible approach with location of the ceremony, working with the British weather. The conveniently located Wine Cellar can be used to serve drinks and coffees after the speeches if the evenings are chilly.

❄️ Under floor heating and a roaring log fire in the Longhouse is perfect for a winter wedding. For the civil wedding ceremonies we would suggest that either the Longhouse or the Wine Cellar are used.

The Longhouse was designed with the environment always at the forefront, in line with our sister company Mill on the Brue’s ethos. It is built to high environmental standards and is an award winning eco wedding venue. As an eco wedding venue, we have: rain water harvesting, sheep wool insulation, recycled rubber roof tiles and heating by a ground source heat pump or our large wood burner stove.

We vowed never to spray chemicals, only to plant trees, reinstate hedgerows and encourage the wild life to return. This we have done over the last 38 years as well as introducing many environmental practices. And it will continue!

Here are a few easy Eco-Friendly Wedding Decoration Tips. 🌱

First off.. mini flower confetti. What's not to love, it's adorable, it's eco-friendly, and it's super colourful. Then of course paper straws. You can even get creative with different colours or patterns. And lastly, how about upcycling some of your favourite spirit bottles or old jam jars to use as vases? They end up making quite the statement piece.

Here at The Longhouse, we are very proud to be an eco-friendly wedding venue to recently receive multiple GoldStar statuses in the Green Tourism’s Business Scheme.

Our solar thermal and photovoltaic panels produce over 70% of our annual electricity requirement. As an eco wedding venue, the building includes: rain water harvesting, sheep wool insulation, recycled rubber roof tiles and even heating by a ground source heat pump or our large wood burner stove.

Keeping it intimate... While most of our couples have decided to postpone their full celebrations until later in the year we are delighted to offer a micro-wedding service which allows couples and up to 13 guests +staff to tie the knot in our formal gardens from Monday. We will be increasing this number to 20 guests when restrictions allow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
