We had a wonderful time in our session at Haslingden Hall Care Home - Amicura on Monday! We just had to share this video of Rachel and one of her residents doing their chair-based exercises together 🥰 To see the encouragement that the care and residential home staff we visit, give to their residents during our sessions is simply wonderful 🫶🏼

What a fantastic morning we had with the wonderful ladies and gents at Hewlett Court in Holcombe Brook! 🤩

We heard some absolutely gorgeous voices and everyone had a good move and groove with lots of laughs and smiles along the way 🎶

Staying and chatting to some of the residents at the end was a delight, we love getting to know you all 💚

Our lovely Patricia from one of our sessions last week enjoying some chair-based exercises!

Our song was ‘Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear’ by the one and only Elvis Presley🕺🏻

We were showing our tiger and lion claws for the lines “I don’t wanna be your tiger cause tigers play too rough, I don’t wanna be your lion” 🐯🦁

Then we did our best Elvis poses with our arms out to the side, whilst gently lifting our heel up and down 🕺🏻

And as you can see, Patricia was going for it with every move! 👏🏼

Our chair-based exercise routines are all about having fun with the lyrics of each song and using imagery, so that the residents don’t feel like they’re exercising- instead they’re just in the moment enjoying themselves. It’s the best thing for us to see 💚

We were back at Southlands Residential Home yesterday and had a wonderful time singing and dancing!

I am loving getting to know the residents that little bit more each week and seeing their personalities shine. There is a lovely lady in this photo called Phyllis and she happens to have the same name as my nanna, so it was extra special to make friends with another Phyllis 🥰💚

2024…. Our first year of Melodies & Memories (well, the last 2 months of 2024!) 🎶

Hello, I’m Suzy, director of Melodies & Memories Ltd 👋🏼 I thought I would introduce myself and tell you all more about me…

I am a dedicated dance teacher and professional singer from Bury, Lancashire, with a passion for spreading the joy of dance and music. After graduating with a 2.1 in BA (Hons) Performing Arts, I qualified as a dance teacher and began teaching tap, ballet, modern, and musical theatre at local dance schools. My journey then led me to become a professional singer, where I also taught singing to both children and adults🩰

In 2017, I opened my own dance school for toddlers and preschoolers, which has been an amazing experience. Inspired by my nanna’s journey with vascular dementia, I decided I wanted to work with the elderly, particularly those living with dementia. Witnessing the positive impact of music on my nanna, I created Melodies & Memories to bring joy and freedom through music and movement to care and residential home residents 🎵

I am a qualified chair-based exercise instructor, a Dementia Friend, and am DBS checked. Additionally, I am trained in safeguarding and hold full insurance. My goal is to enrich the lives of the elderly through the transformative power of music and dance 💚
