Goodbye Paper Patootie (PART II) 🥹

I left you hanging a little yesterday! So I’m here to tell you what will become of the ‘non-wedding stationery’ side of Paper Patootie. Well, MOSTLY non-wedding - it would be odd if I didn’t take a few bits and pieces that you’ve absolutely loved with me 🥰

Announcing .designstudios 🥳

An ever-growing catalogue of my creations with no limitations. From greetings cards to prints, notepads to ceramics, event invites to keepsakes - all lovingly designed and kept in one place (my Etsy shop, launching soon! ✨) for special occasions and all the days in between.

This one is going to be a grower! Full disclosure…

1 - I’m not crazy about the branding and aesthetic as it stands, but I just know that given time, it’ll all click into place, just like .weddingstationery has 🤍 I thought I knew what vibe I was going for (bright, fun, and a place to ‘let go’ and be messy!) as opposed to the sophisticated and classic feel of .weddingstationery, but I’ve fallen into subtle, delicate and muted territory yet again! Maybe that’s just who I am 🤣

2- I only have 24 items listed ready for launch (but I love each one and know you will too 🥹) and will be adding to this for as long as the business runs! If you’re artistic in any way, you’ll know that the want to create never goes away 🎨

3 - I would love you all to join me on the journey! It will be a place of loveliness and positivity, and we all need that in our lives 🥰

Goodbye Paper Patootie! 🥹 (PART I)

I’ve toyed with splitting Paper Patootie into two separate entities for around two years now - one for weddings and the other for all non-wedding creations. So it’s a super exciting milestone for me to elevate my business and enable me to focus on giving the best service and products to each type of customer and client 🥰

So what better time than to go for a full re-brand? 😅

Some of you will have seen my struggles with the very name ‘Paper Patootie.’ From feeling that it’s not quite ‘me’ anymore, to having to explain to potential clients that I don’t sell patooties made from paper (whatever they may be) and it’s nothing to do with potatoes - yes, really, I have had this conversation more than once!

So what can you expect going forward?

Classy, elegant, simple, high end and high quality wedding stationery, with branding that is much more authentically ‘me.’ Your favourite collections from Paper Patootie will be coming with me, along with some new beautiful designs ready to be customised with the details of your special day. I will still be taking on a limited number of bespoke design slots each year too, and I’m so excited to work with you to create something unique for your wedding day!

Whether you’re a previous client, a bride to be seeking inspiration, a local business, a supportive friend, or someone who loves all things creative, you can follow along in the lead up! ✨

🔔 I’m calling it! 🔔 I’ve had an epiphany today 😂 and it’s something that should be just common sense.

As solo business owners, we are programmed to plough on. Because we LOVE our businesses. Because we don’t want them to fail. Because we don’t want to let our clients down. Because often (and in my case) no one is there to pick up the pieces or step in for you if you’re not present.

BUT…

Our businesses also cannot peak and we cannot give our clients the best of us if we are not at our best. Self-care has to be paramount - whatever that looks like for you 🤍

So today, I’m giving in and taking an actual sick day 😮🤧

Over the next few days I have some things coming up which I need to be fully present for -

💒 Completing two lots of wedding day stationery for the both beautiful of brides - it’s a massive compliment for me when couples come back to me for their ‘on the day’ stationery after loving their invitations so much 🥰

💌 Starting the most gorgeous of foil invitations to match a lovely bride-to-be’s super shiny save the dates!

🎈 A very special 60th birthday invitation design

👩‍👦 Solo parenting for a couple of days while my husband is away with his first love ⚽️😂

All emails will be responded to tomorrow when my brain is hopefully somewhere closer to full capacity 🤞🏼 In the meantime, I’ll be on the sofa nursing myself back to health… until my little boy is back home to play snakes and ladders for the 2387th time ☺️

📬 By popular demand, I offer an envelope printing and/or handwriting service to save you the job. I can also include postage in your package, giving you peace of mind and freeing up your precious time… because we all need more of that, am I right? 😅

I mean nothing against our King Charlie when I say this and I LOVE the rich purple of the new 1st class stamp, but I think I’ll be looking into some vintage stamps in the near future 😍

Wedding congratulations + a new product on offer = the happiest Instagram post! 🥰

A friend I was messaging recently said to me ‘if you’re busy, I can always message you another time.’

My response was, ‘if you wait until I’m not busy, you’ll never message me again.’ 😂

And I realised something for the first time; I’ve never been happier to be so busy 🐝

🫠 In my younger days, it was a ticking boxes, people pleasing, wanting to fit in, Sunday night dread and wishing for Friday while being stressed out of my mind kind of busy. You know how that feels, right?!

🥰 But over the last few years, I’ve created this amazing kind of busy.

Busy enjoying precious time with my family (fur baby included!) 💙

Busy spending time with friends I choose to because they make me feel good 🫶🏼

Busy taking care of a home that already holds a million memories 🏠

Busy learning new skills just because I want to 💭

Busy taking care of my health (with the exception of far too much chocolate 🙊)

And busy creating my dream business, where I get to do what I love 💌

As a wedding stationer who JUST GETS how busy life and wedding planning is, I make your stationery one less thing to worry about and actually makes the process fun and easy (I promise!)

Yes, it goes without saying that the main reason for save the dates is to… save the date 🙃

BUT…

It’s also about the build up. For you, and for your guests. It’s about showing just enough of a glimpse of your special day to build excitement without giving away the best that’s yet to come!

Alice and Adam loved the foliage from the Evergreen design, but wanted to make it their own with some stunning sunflowers 🌻 a slight change in fonts/layouts, some GORGEOUS luxury sage green envelopes, and a QR code. But not just any QR code…

Alice is the biggest fan you’ll meet! And this QR code took their guests to nothing other than a video recorded by The Wanted inviting their guests to their wedding!

It doesn’t get more personal than that 🥰

Nothing makes me happier than seeing guests posting the save the dates and wedding invitations they’ve received through the post, to their stories. This is because I KNOW these pieces of stationery have sparked the excitement for their loved one’s wedding day! ✨

The neutral colour, the large, vertical date in contrast with the delicate main type are just a few reasons that I’m in LOVE with Rachel and Brandon’s save the dates 😍 (Less than a year until your wedding guys - eeeek!)

And this is why I’ve used it as inspiration for another brand new collection I’ve created 🤭

Being sent these stunning professional photographs from Anna & James’ wedding was definitely the highlight of my week! 😍

My design drafts give my clients a really great idea of how their finished stationery will look. It gets a million times better when they see them in reality on gorgeous mediums, whether that’s invitations, signage, menus, place cards… the options are endless. But seeing them on your special day complimenting your decor and gorgeous venue, is just the cherry on top 🍒
