Once in a Blue Moon!

A huge thank you to everyone that came down to The Brickyard on Thursday 20th July 2023. The bands performances were amazing and the atmosphere the audience created was phenomenal.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the band Placeholder has had to pull out of tonight’s performance at The Brickyard.

Introducing… Bottled Smiles

We’re Bottled Smiles, a newly formed 4-piece band based in Carlisle. Our band consist of Indie Moscrop on vocals and rhythm guitar, Harry Day on lead guitar, Jonny Trotter on bass and Josh Graham on drums and backing vocals. As a group, we take inspiration from classic and hard rock acts throughout the ages, so there will be plenty for you to join in with.

Introducing… Pending

Pending is an indie bedroom pop band that takes inspiration from artists such as Mac Demarco, Radiohead and Men I Trust and have been experimenting with a variety of musical techniques to display at their shows and put on a fantastic performance. Within this band we have Jack Jackson and Dan Goodman alternating between lead vocals, rhythm guitar and lead guitar, Sophie Messenger on bass, Ross Mcnally on keys and Charlie Miller on drums.

Introducing… Supersonic

Supersonic, some might say we’re Cumbria’s most biblical Oasis tribute act. We are here to accurately replicate the sights and sounds of peak Oasis, with a variety of classic anthems and deep cuts. We’ll be sure to have you feeling “supersonic” and drinking gin and tonic. Supersonic consists of our lead singer Thomas MacGregor, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Ben Penney, lead guitarist Drew “Drewberto” Young, drumming GOD Sam Roberts and our bass player Joe Maughan. Introducing… The Spectrum

The Spectrum are a Carlisle based band covering a range of indie-pop and pop-rock songs. They have been together for around 2 years and performed live in a number of locations around Carlisle including Youth Zone and the City Centre.
They formed as a group of friends who shared a strong interest and knowledge in music, which they channel into each of their performances.

In their own words, "This gig will be big step forward for us as a band and we are excited to share the music we create with Carlisle."

2 Faced 2005 is an Emo-Punk band taking inspiration from bands such as My Chemical Romance, Blink-182 and Fallout Boy, to add an emotional early 2000s vibe to their performance. In this band we have Aidan Bell on lead vocals, Olly Davidson on Keys, Lucas Southward on guitar and Josh Graham on drums and backing vocals

Placeholder is a 5 piece band made up of music performance and production students, with a broad range of experience on their respective instruments. Here to bring fresh summer vibes to open the new season. We have Abbie Kenney on lead vocals, Olly Renton on bass, Drew Young alternating between rhythm and lead guitar, Danielius Janusauskas on keys and Ace Fell on drums.

Do you enjoy live music?

With classics from the 60s to the current day, music from all genres. There’s something for everyone at Once in a Blue Moon.

Presented by Music Horizon and hosted by The Brickyard, Once in a Blue Moon is here to showcase the young talent we have right here in Carlisle.

This gig has a collection of new upcoming bands from in and around Carlisle, with a wide range of music inspirations. There is music for everyone throughout the night, with pop groups such as Placeholder and The Spectrum, an Oasis tribute act from Supersonic, alternative music from 2 Faced 2005, indie music from Pending and hard rock from Band Next Door and Bottled Smiles.

We will be hosting this event at The Brickyard, on Thursday the 20th of July 2023.

Doors open at 18:30 and the show will promptly start at 19:00

The Brickyard has both standing and seated spaces available, there is limited seating, so to ensure a seat arrive promptly at 18:30.

Refreshments are available at the onsite bar, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The Brickyard enforces a Challenge 25 policy at the bar, so if you are lucky enough to look under the age of 25 years old, ensure that you bring a verified form of ID.

- The Brickyard's age restriction policy -
No one under the age of 14 years old is allowed on the premises.
Those aged 16 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult

There will also be a selection of other merchandise available to buy the day after the launch event as numbers are limited. The numbers of these will be updated on this page, which can then also be order for collection.

Once a ticket has been reserved for you, you will be added to a list, to then be checked off once you have paid on the door.

Album launch event
Thursday 18th May 2023

All tickets can be pre-booked by contacting the email address [email protected].
Please state
* The time you want to come
* The type of ticket
* The number of tickets
* A name to put the order under.
These tickets will then be kept to the side to pay on the door (cash only).

There will also be merchandise and CDs available at the event, which is also cash only.

Please be aware all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by and adult at all times.

This event is a trail of meditation music and art installations. Each installation and track will be played in separate areas from one another so please be aware of others around you and the potential of cross overs during other viewing times.
