Knockengorroch Longhouse

Knockengorroch Longhouse The Langwhan, a recreation of a medieval longhouse and hidden gem of the Knockengorroch World Ceilidh The atmosphere in the Longhouse cannot be re-created.

The Langwhan, Celtic Longhouse, is a hidden gem of the Knockengorroch world ceilidh festival and a focal point for the Celtic diaspora of this beautiful place. Top musicians from all genres gather and play solo or form new collaborations with others they may have only just met. Storytelling and singing foster an ambience of times long past. Audiences become participants in this journey to another

place in time. It has been lovingly built by volunteers over the years along a design by Simon Holmes, but is not finished! Our DIY camp in September each year is a chance to join a voluntary camp to work and celebrate in the Longhouse. Email [email protected] for more info. Any profits made go to Global Music Exchange, Baka Beyond's charity to help indigenous Baka people. A huge thanks going out to all those that made the Longhouse such a glorious creative celebration of life, love and music this weekend!
A special nod to the crew that worked tirelessly through those heady four days keeping the tunes going till 6am - Freya Rae, Siannie Moodie, Joey Sanderson, Ewan McIntyre & Tim Leslie you are total legends. Also massive kudos to Alasdair Kampff, whose single pointed focus leant a glorious and balanced sound throughout the house through the four days and nights, on barely a wink of sleep and in constant good humour!
Also a big shout out to Cera Impala for taking the fore on the Sunday evening with The Positive Experience who kept the vibe going through the night.
And to all our other performers... The Weirdstring Band!, Auld Reekie String Band, Oceanallover, Tilly Dread, John Fairhurst, Mairi Campbell, Fredy Clue, Divergence, The Tatties Ankles, John Langan & Chandra Mather, Kajsa Balto, Wailing Sídhe, Jemima & The Fuse, Luisa Brown & John Anderson, Morag Brown & Lewis Powell-Reid, Muckle Spree, Kathryn Tickell, Apehouse, Ella Campbell, Singsong Supper Club, Cont'ylia & Binky Blue, and all of you who dissolved those blurry lines between performer and audience.
Finally, a huge debt of gratitude goes out to Rab Fulton and all the volunteers that have helped to build and maintain this unique and thriving space over these past 25 years and more.
Have a great summer and see you all next year!
