A lovely Remembrance Day Parade through the village today to pay respects to the fallen.

"When you go home, tell them of us and say, For your tomorrow, we gave our today"

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them

Yesterday, I had the privilege of officiating a funeral service for a friends father, an absolute gentleman, businessman, mentor, Dad, Grandad and friend to so many.
It was an honour to be asked to help and support the family through this and give Mike the celebration of life he fully deserved.
It was down in Eastbourne, so a crematorium I have not been to so thank you to Haine & Son Funeral Directors and Eastbourne Crematorium.

As the veil between worlds thins this time of year, we find ourselves surrounded by traditions that honour the dead in beautifully distinct ways. Halloween, with its roots in ancient Celtic and Christian customs, invites playful reflection on mortality through costumes, lanterns, and tales of spirits. All Souls’ Day, observed on November 2nd, offers a quieter moment for prayer and remembrance—an opportunity to hold close those who have passed and reflect on the enduring bond of love beyond life.
In contrast, Día de los Mu***os brings vibrant colour and joy to the act of remembrance. Celebrated across Mexico and beyond, it blends Indigenous and Catholic traditions to create altars (ofrendas), share stories, and welcome the spirits of loved ones home. Whether solemn or celebratory, each tradition reminds us that memory is sacred—and that love, once given, never truly fades.

On Saturday I had the privilege of leading the Autumn Memorial Service at GreenAcres Chiltern Park which was organised by G Smith Funeral Directors - Wooburn Green, David Silvey Funeral Directors - High Wycombe and FG Pymm Funeral Directors - Maidenhead to help and support all the families that they have been entrusted to care for their loved ones.
It was a beautiful, heart warming service and a pleasure to be part of. Thank you to Sarah and her team who all made it so special.

This Saturday 25th October I have the honour of helping David Silvey Funeral Directors - High Wycombe, FG Pymm Funeral Directors - Maidenhead and G Smith Funeral Directors - Wooburn Green to host their Autumn Memorial Service at 11.30am at GreenAcres Chiltern Park HP9 2XB.
This is for the families that they have supported and members of the community that would like to join them for a moment of reflection.

Please feel free to join us on Saturday for a period of reflection in the peaceful setting of Greenacres. Celebrant Roy Burridge will be helping us host the event ❤️🍁🍁

A beautiful morning walk on Gold Hill Common in the blue skies and sunshine.
The conkers, the fruit of the oak, naturally falling and laying on the beautiful green grass.
Different from the days where they would be knocked out of the tree, collected and prepared for the Conker Championships.
The temperature has definitely lowered on the this, the last day of summer.
