We had SUCH a gorgeous Monday Club yesterday. Our dear Julia ( on the squares) is getting married in the Easter holidays, so we had a mini hen party to see her off in style. Nothing too fancy, just a lovely brunch at The Crown in Penn with her Monday gang.

We also presented her with a piece of hand embroidery that everyone had contributed to. The idea of and beautifully designed by with each flower carefully woven into the cotton with love and best wishes for Julia's marriage.

As we took 10 mins on a bench in the sun yesterday afternoon, Caroline and I reflected on how blessed we are that something we call our 'job' has so many deeply beautiful parts to it, the main one being all the lovely souls who come together to craft, work or just be together. Community is undoubtedly the answer to so many of the worlds problems...

Wishing Julia and her future husband the most beautiful of weddings and long, happy and healthy lives together.

🌷🪻PLEASE SAVE THE DATE🪻🌷

We will be throwing open the doors of The Pavilion next Saturday, 29th March, from 11am to 2pm for a Mother's Day Pop Up Shop and we would love you to come.

We have some Where Inspiration Blooms handmade cards and ceramics, plus we'll be joined by our friend Susie from Sus has a collection of scrumptious homemade bakes, delicious treats and gorgeous tasty gift ideas.

The kettle will be on, so you're very welcome to stay for a complimentary cuppa and a chinwag!

We've also teamed up with to offer a limited amount of hand-tied bouquets. These need to be pre-ordered and can then be collected from the pop-up. Our bouquets come in 4 different sizes and only comprise flowers that we have grown in our own gardens or from the Walled Garden at the estate. All have been grown as sustainably as possible, which makes us very happy as we are big exponents of 'grown not flown'...so if you are looking to buy your mum a really gorgeous bunch of flowers that have only travelled walking distance to The Pavilion then please pre-book your bouquet via our website.

Hope you've had a lovely weekend and that we see you next Saturday 🤗

For a lot of us, the idea of creating abstract art can feel really quite daunting (and scary!!) plus undoubtedly triggers all of the old negative self beliefs...."I'm not creative"..."I am not arty"... and my personal go to "I can't draw or paint"...

But...

we promise you will joyfully surprise yourself at Amy Huitson's Abstract Collage workshop this Friday evening. Amy has such a calm and encouraging way of helping her students to playfully explore colour, shapes, feelings, and textures.

In this 2 hour exploration of mixed media, there is absolutely no right or wrong... only a couple of blissful hours spent making painty marks and textures followed by some super fun cutting, tearing, and layering to create your very own collage. Honestly, both and I have done this class, and we both absolutely LOVED our pieces, and neither of us claims any drawing or painting skills!! It's just really good fun and very rewarding 🥰

They say that the first anniversaries of things are the worst with grief…so you can imagine how unexcited I was about my impending birthday yesterday…

But…

a sprinkling of brunch with some very kind friends

2 x amazing dairy-free homemade cakes (Victoria sponge from & fruit cake from my lovely husband )

and a couple of hours playing with a cricut machine and pastel coloured felt with

and I had a perfect Jules-shaped recipe for a calm and unexpectedly happy day.

From dread to delightful in a couple of simple steps.
I am determined to keep practising gratitude for the little things.
They're actually the big things at the end of the day... I know Amanda would agree... and maybe that's her gift to me...

Thought you’d appreciate the cake photos… I luckily took them yesterday as being a family of 5, there are really only crumbs left now!!!!

Thank you so much for the kindest comments, messages, and calls following from our post about Amanda this week. I've been reading and replying in small chunks primarily timed around how long I can get away with shedding tears before the obligatory school runs and outside world interactions! It's easy to forget how many people have already walked similar paths to you as you share your own story... grief is such a shared experience that we all go through at some point and yet painfully unique to each of us. It's certainly spurred a lot of thoughts in me this week. More on that another time.

For now, a welcome return to my day job! Today, I'm back teaching arm knitting at our gorgeous Pavilion. And tomorrow, we have one of Bucks' best known and talented artists teaching us how to paint this handsome stag.

I believe we can squeeze in an extra 3 more budding artists so if you're looking for something to do for a few hours to help banish those lingering winter blues then come and paint all shades of them into this majestic creature's bottom!

Link for more details or drop us a message, and we will get back to you today.

I definitely haven't felt like posting on here lately, although in my mind, I've written this post hundreds of times.
On 18th January, my dear friend Amanda died from a brutally cruel glioblastoma. Life has felt surreal ever since.

Mand, however, was not one for self-pity, so I hope you don’t spot too much of that here... she'd not be impressed!

What I wanted to share was a wee bit of what's been going on behind the scenes. This layer of grief has transformed my previously shocking menopause memory into a chasm of regular apologies, so sorry to anyone who I still owe an email or reply to!

But most of all, I wanted to share the deep sense of gratitude that I've also had the privilege of feeling alongside this vast loss. Mand was a huge supporter of our business, always recommending us in Facebook groups, supplying us with amazing nannies and spending every single day of Bucks Art Week either on a camping chair with me on the front desk or helping Sus in the pop-up cafe! Caroline and I are both really grateful for all of her support. It was her who picked up 2 sobbing women and offered hot coffees at Peterley the day the water went off at The Barn.

I am so very blessed to have had 15 years of shared life with this treasure of a woman. From baby weaning to the loss of our mums... from breakfasts in every damn coffee shop in Bucks to seeing puffins on Skomer for my 50th...from trying to teach our girls 11+ revision from our lockdown bubble to desperately trying to source crisps when food delivery slots meant staying up until 1am. Into 15 years, we crammed a lifetime of laughter, tears, walks, coffees, and sneaky daytime cinema trips, but most of all, we shared a deep love. The kind that means that although you hurt like hell, you know that you loved them exactly as much as they loved you.

In time, we will find a way to honour her memory and also raise money for , who, for the 2nd time, I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to.

But for now, there's an empty seat at the coffee shop table and a very missed shoulder to rely on (pictured here on my wedding day).

Thank you for everything beautiful, Mand ###

I know the weather is tricking me today, and we aren’t out of winter’s clutches, but it feels like springtime. I even had to help a butterfly escape from the greenhouse this morning.

🎼Red and yellow and pink and green....🎵🎶

Once you can make your own lampshade, you can literally make a rainbow of opportunities for your friends, family, and home🌈

As luck would have it, expert upholsterer is back with us next Saturday, 25th January, to teach you how to make drum lampshades. They're the perfect place for beginners to start... and you don't need to be good at sewing or even have a single crafty bone in your body... they're great fun to make and even better fun to admire as your very own handiwork when you get home.

For more info, we've popped a link below or you are very welcome to pop any questions in the comments.

Some people know that my entry into the crafting world started with upholstery about 15 years ago, and I was really lucky to have been taught by one of the greatest teachers of our time, David James. He was always so patient and kind, and utterly passionate about upholstery. Today, along with his family and many of his grateful students, we said goodbye to David, after a short illness before Christmas. He has inspired so many people in his lifetime, and helped to breathe new life into hundreds of old chairs.
I haven’t upholstered for about 10 years, but coincidentally started this chair for my niece last October. I finished it over the Christmas holidays, and thought of David as I was stitching, and offered him a silent apology as I banged away with my electronic staple gun - a true atrocity for such a traditionalist. He despaired of all the modern, foam filled chairs that I brought to our classes, but gave them equal thought and consideration as more traditional chairs.
So this post is a big thank you to David for his teaching, and to the wonderful group of women I got to know through upholstery, who then inspired me to branch out into other crafts. Without those classes it is likely that Where Inspiration Blooms wouldn’t exist.
Here is the little chair that I covered for my gorgeous niece Rosie, which she and their cat Mack (pictured) take turns sitting in. Thanks to Suz for the photo.

It’s going to be a cold one tonight, so it is perfect to make some ice art. Just put a bit of water in a bowl or bucket and decorate with flowers and foliage from your garden. Tomorrow it will be frozen solid, ready to be taken out and admired!

Last-minute reminder for anyone who is having as much success with their pressie buying as I'm having with doing regular social media posts!!

The good news (for you)...is that we sell digital gift vouchers via our website. They're instant, you can choose almost any amount, and if you want something to print off and pop in a card, I can make you a bespoke pdf and email it between now and 9pm tomorrow night. You just need to send us an email to request it.

The bad news (for me)... is that if I don't get my act together on the old socials pretty sharpish, Caroline may need to consider interviewing her cat as our next marketing guru!!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve folks (there's just over 2 hours of it left, so I may even have time to sneak another post in tomorrow for you lucky people😉).

Aren't these the cutest Christmas creatures?

A huge thank you to the super talented who taught needlefelted Christmas decorations today at The Studio.

Jackie will be teaching one more class with us this year (Satturday 7th December), where we will be making this adorable little owl and sn*******ng reindeer decorations.

And... she has very kindly let us add 2 extra spaces as we know so many folk were disappointed that they weren't able to get a place.

On a windy grey Saturday, these little cuties really do bring us such joy!

Today was a day that I was glad to watch the sun set on... and I stood there, badly dressed for such a freezing cold wind, making damn sure it really was done!

Tomorrow, I'm going to get up early, watch the sun rise, and celebrate the opportunity for a fresh start.

Thought you might like to see our most recent interior additions at the Pavilion.

This lovely old building really is finding her voice now as our dream of a beautifully grounded and nature-inspired nurturing space takes shape under expert eye. All of the pieces of The Barn that we once loved so much are slowly evolving here... with all of the learnings and lessons it taught us!

A couple of simple book cases and some old lights and ta da!

Next up... outside lights...
