Fabulous work by Mark our wonderful Tuesday Ho**er!

Our lovely Tuesday evening Ho**er, Mark, has just finished this INCREDIBLE giant amigurumi giraffe. I’m so proud of Mark’s progress this year - he’s really found his groove with shape work and watching this project come together has been beyond wonderful.

The giraffe hasn’t yet been given a name so I think it’s only right that we put it to the community to ask what you think they should be called?

Some of the Ho**ers and I went to the opening night on Friday and had such a great time. Go and see it if you get chance. Wonderful atmosphere, great cast and a really fun take on a favourite!

🧶 Two spaces available on this Saturday’s workshop!

Join us on at The Yarnery on 12th July from 1pm to learn how to knit with a loom!

During this beginners session we will explore loom knitting technique, you will make practice swatches with a variety of yarn and start your own project to keep and take away.

All workshoppers will receive their own straight loom to learn with, take away and keep so you can carry on crafting at home! You will also receive a 15% discount on all in stock yarn that day if you have a project in mind that you’d like to start. Hot drinks will be available throughout.

Another lovely day with lovely people at yesterday’s Mosaic Crochet workshop with Hooking Good at The Yarnery

Thank you to all of you that came along and made it such a fun afternoon! We had lots of my crochet regulars, the comedy mother and daughter in law duo (if you’ve been on a workshop with them you’ll know!) and even a workshopper that came all the way from Scotland to attend.

Our next Crochet Mosaic workshop will be on August 30th from 1:30 - 4:30 and booking is now open Facebook event to follow - I will drop all the details below.

CROCHET WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT! 🧶

Join us on August 23rd from 1:00 - 4:00 where Hooking Good will be hosting a Crochet Beginners Workshop at The Yarnery

During this session we will cover how to correctly hold your crochet hook and feed your yarn, chain, single and double crochet and start a small project. Left and right handed Ho**ers are welcome.

A fifty percent booking fee of this £36 workshop is required to reserve your space. All materials and hooks will be provided for use on the day as well as hot drinks for all attendees.

All workshoppers will receive a 15% discount on in stock yarn on the day if they wish to purchase anything to take at the end of the session.

NEW WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT!

Join us on September 6th from 1:30 to make your own macrame plant hanger 🌿

During this three hour workshop you will be guided by Hooking Good as you learn how to create the different macrame knots required to complete the project that you’ll be able to take home with you on the day. Ahead of this workshop you will be shown a range of colours to choose from so that your macrame can perfectly match your interior!

Like most of our favourite crafts, macrame's popularity declined after the Industrial Revolution with the rise of machine-made goods but experienced a MAJOR revival in the 1970s and has risen in popularity again over the last five years. Plant hangers make beautiful gifts and look fabulous adorned with your favourite hanging plant pals.

A fifty percent booking fee of this £37 workshop is required to reserve your space. This workshop is strictly limited to 8 people.

What a fantastic week it’s been at The Yarnery!

Meeting lots of you for the first time over the last few days has been fabulous. Yarn people are the best people! Thanks to all of you for coming in to see the space, shop and attend the workshops.

Later this afternoon I’ll be announcing some new workshops so keep your eyes on the page for details - there will be more mosaic, macrame and crochet technique classes coming up.

🌟 Studio/Workshop Space to Let! 🌟

The first floor at 43 St James Street above The Yarnery is available to let from August 1st 2025

The floor has is own access with a door to the rear of the building, it’s own kitchen and bathroom and would make a fantastic studio for an artist or designer. There’s plenty of room to host workshops!

This is a business let and not suitable for residential tenants.

Yesterday, with the help of my some of my wonderful Ho**ers community, I had a massive move around in the shop and the wall of yarn we’ve all been waiting for is now in place! I’ll be open to the public today from 10:30 - 5:00!

I’ve had so much stock delivered over the last few days including knitting pins (all of your Knitpro faves), YarnArt flower cakes, JCBrett SUPER chunky, LOTS of pure cotton yarn and all of the accessories your crafty heart could desire.

I can’t wait for you all to see the changes. Oh… and the biggest one! The workshop tables are here and they’re fabulous! Those that are coming along to the Hooking Good Crochet Mosaic workshop this afternoon will be able to test them out 🤓
