So pleased to tell you that chalkstreamflowers.com is now LIVE for orders! It's been a long time coming but having overcome the worst slug problems for years (nearly threw in the towel before we had started!) and numerous technical gremlins, we're actually there!

We'll be hand delivering within PO18, PO19 and PO20 on Tuesdays and Saturdays so see you soon! Sorry if you live further away but plans are afoot for postal options.

Forget the rest of us, the most adored member of the team is Fennel! Bunny scarer, hole digger (never where you want them 😅) and most loyal companion even on the wettest of days when you just want to go home and have a cuppa! Thank you Fen, it wouldn't be the same without you 🐾

Come on warmer weather! I think we're all longing for it to warm up now and the sun to come out for more than just a fleeting moment. The greenhouse is bursting to the seams and we can't wait to start transplanting out into the walled garden once the night temps rise a bit. Good things come to those who wait I guess....

Anyway, next up on the growing list is the perennial cornflower Centaurea Montana. Here in a gorgeous blue, but also available in white, it is wonderfully intricate and adored by the bees and butterflies 🦋.

The tubers are all potted up in the cold greenhouse so now we just need to be patient and let them do their stuff.

Colourful, pollinator-friendly and long stemmed, what's not to love about an allium! I have to admit that, along with the rest of us, I'm slightly done with winter now and wish it would hurry up and be spring! However, we're nearly there and with the busyness of seed sowing about to begin it won't be long.

So what are we going to be growing? Well, a mixture of annuals, biennials and perennials, but mainly the first two to start with. We love pollinator-friendly plants as to be honest if we can also support the local bee population it's a win win in our eyes.

We're going to steer away from what you might normally find in the local supermarket and grow those that we think are the most beautiful, graceful and elegant, not forgetting colourful! Here are some of last year's aquilegia that are definitely a favourite!

So, who are we?! Well, I'm Ed and I've been a professional gardener and horticultural therapist for around 10 years. Coming from a long lineage of gardeners, growing is in the family and I am counting on some help from them this season!

An amazingly supportive and creative wife and two home educated kids make up this happy clan, along with the much adored family hound 'Fennel'.

We're so excited about the year ahead and can't wait to finally get growing! Keep your eyes peeled over the coming days for some sneak peaks into what we'll be growing!

It might not look like much yet, but give it a few months and it will hopefully be covered in wonderful flowers available for you to buy!

The foxgloves and sweet rocket are biding their time having been planted last year so will hopefully bloom come May. But the main seed sowing starts in the next couple of weeks, it's going to be busy!

Welcome to Chalk stream flowers! A family business growing seasonal cut flowers nestled at the foot of the South Downs and irrigated by the local chalk stream.

With the amazing generosity of some local friends and the use of a walled garden, we are so excited to share this journey as we embark on our first proper year of flower farming.

With around 90% of flowers sold in the UK being imported from as far a field as South America and Africa we want to be part of an alternative solution.

Instead we'll be growing beautiful cut flowers under organic methods and in line with the seasons. With sustainable growing techniques, a love of pollinator-friendly plants and a lack of pesticides, you can know that our flowers will not only bring joy, but help support the local environment and economy.

Stay tuned to find out more and where our cut flowers will be available this year!
