After a lovely little break in Cornwall, I thought I'd best get back to posting on the grid and with a little influx of new followers I figured I'd say hello again.

So hello! I'm Chloe Lavender (some people have previously thought I'd come up with a separate 'floral' name but no, that's my real name!)

Despite a bit of a serious concentration face (as demonstrated in this shot from the Solstice workshop back in April) I'm actually very down-to-earth!

I create wild and romantic floral designs inspired by nature, working with local growers and with sustainability at the heart of what I do. Following the seasons, I love using flowers that naturally flow and dance together, blending tones and textures.

I love thinking outside the box so if you've got an idea for your wedding or event that you haven't seen done before then I'd love to hear about it ❤

When I’m not creating floral designs you can usually find me barefoot tending to my own garden and all the birds that visit, and looking after my chickens.

Beautiful people. Beautiful venue. Beautiful flowers.
And of course I couldn't resist sharing a photo of the cute call ducks ❤

Working with on her vision for her recent at was everything. I've been wowed by the photos from the attendees and these stunning ones from are no exception.

With the vibe all about ethereal tones and shapes, I worked with local growers to source the most beautiful varieties that ticked the brief perfectly. With the 'May gap' and bank holiday adding some fun to logistics, I was so pleased to still be able to use an abundance of British grown flowers, with some top ups from our friends in Holland where I just couldn't get the numbers of some things here in the UK.

Bud vase details

I love seeing a mix of small vases filled with myriads of seasonal flowers. The key is to include lots of different heights and textures but also mixing and matching in other shapes and styles of arrangements too. Each flower then gets its own showtime.

For larger weddings I absolutely love working with stylists who can supply bud vases along with everything else you might need for your day. I've recently worked with some super lovely ones, who have amazing arrays of options for hire, and so can usually direct you to a stylist that will suit your overall look and vibe.

For smaller weddings I'm always happy to use any vases or vessels supplied by couples and I've also built up a selection of candlesticks, table runners and other lovely hire items to bring your tables to life that might be helpful too.

These bud vases were for H&G who got married at in March

Table impact!

Sometimes it's easy to think that bud vases offer the best 'bang for your buck' since you can potentially include lots of them but had you thought about adding in bowl or other arrangements to your table centrepieces without blowing your budget?

Available in different sizes, just a few dotted around can really add more wow and impact since they create different shapes and textures for your eyes to take in. Just a few dotted around can work so well and help pull a theme together - this doesn't mean swearing off bud vases (don't get me wrong, I love curating mixes of seasonal flowers for them) but instead think about mixing them in alongside other styling elements to help elevate your look.

I recently got added to the rota for our local church flowers so of course I was going to create an arrangement using an abundance of British seasonal loveliness 💚

With zero foliage bar the leaves from the blossom, I love how these locally-grown beauties include varieties you wouldn't always expect to see in church flowers such as the creamy yellow icelandic poppies and the green fritillary persicaria. You can also see why La Belle Epoque is such a popular tulip variety, it really is gorgeous.

As always, foam free using just gravel, water and some chicken wire for the mechanics.

I can totally see this arrangement working amazingly well at a wedding or a party too - let me know what you think too.

Absolutely glorious blooms from and .furnell.1 plus the white apple blossom still going strong from

Meadow boxes 💚

One of my favourite arrangements to create for 2 reasons:

🌿 Work so well for naturally-inspired designs, almost looking like you've taken a small part of a hedgerow or garden

🌍 Super secure and transportable when created in wooden boxes meaning they can be re-purposed during your wedding to get the most from your displays. Move them from your ceremony aisles to in front of your top table or dot them around other parts of your venue too

They work as individual arrangements (in windows, in front of signs or on tables etc.) or can line up together to create your own mini meadow. If the boxes are not for you then I also create these as more 'typical' meadow blocks with the arrangements on eco-friendly bases so they look like they're growing out the ground - I love them both! I've found the boxes move and transport easier, especially if your own wedding co-ordinator is going to be doing this on the day.

Flowers picked directly from the amazing field of and included some beaut lilac tulips (which I then reflexed), a myriad of narcissus varieties, snake-head fritillaries, apple blossom, orlaya, ranunculus and some leucojum. I also added a few bluebells from my own garden which are flowering beautifully right now.

Posting this on the grid again just to share the gorgeousness of this super romantic Spring palette. I feel it's giving almost a French regency vibe with the super romantic draping dreamt up and brought to life by . This floral mix included snake-head fritillaries, creamy butterfly ranunculus, reflexed pale apricot tulips, lilac, narcissus, spirea and white lilac plus a little bit of variegated pittosporum.

It was great also getting to crack out my selection of vintage urns and vessels for this one. As always no floral foam and all arrangements are directly in water with just some chicken wire and a new idea I'm trialing: fish tank gravel which so far has been a success.

Although these were imported blooms in this instance (thank you for the great service) when choosing my flower recipes and working seasonally I always select flowers that would naturally be flowering around the same time over here in the UK too. Mother nature really knows what she's doing and taking inspiration by observing what grows together in 'the real world' often means a beautiful, cohesive mix where everything just 'looks right' together (to me anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!)

As I look outside right now I can even see every flower mentioned (with the exception of the butterfly ranunculus)! There is much white blossom (including the spirea which I did actually use from my own garden for this one), plus all the other Spring delights (the lilac isn't out just yet but it's budding up super well so shouldn't be too long)

Valentine's Day pre-orders are now live on the website!

I've decided to keep the options simple this year, celebrating the best seasonal flowers and championing British flower growers, and so I've created 2 different bouquet options centred around the Goddess of Love:

Aphrodite (the ancient Green form): lots of deep, rich colours of reds, burgundys and purples ❤️💜

Venus (the Roman form): softer and feminine with lots of pastel pinks, whites and creams 🤍🩷

I'll also have gift-wrapped tulip bunches available from the wonderful Smith & Munson. These are premium varieties you wouldn't see in supermarkets and perfect for setting the scene at home if you're dining in.

Link to all options on my webshop below or feel free to get in touch directly if you'd like something bespoke:

Happy Tuesday and Happy New Year from me to you on this very rainy, very British day!

I’ve taken the last few weeks to ‘winter’ and slow down a bit, spending time with friends and family, walking in the countryside and cosying up next to the fire with some books and films. I hope you had a nourishing and relaxing time whatever you did too 💚

This is a year for working with the seasons, celebrating every detail nature has to offer and I look forward to sharing more of what this means with you throughout the year.

As part of my first seasonal offering, I’ve decided to start offering bouquets locally again. I realised I missed the everyday interactions with people and so from today you can now order flowers for yourself, flowers for a friend or flowers just because.

Sustainability is still at the heart of what I do and so for the moment I’m going to keep things simple offering a ‘seasonal bouquet of the week’ – this will be a selection hand-picked by yours truly reflecting the best in-season flowers. However, if you would like any bespoke or specific flowers please do get in touch directly and I’d be super happy to help.

Thought I needed to post these as another 'flower in focus'

I feel lisianthus or eustoma are often overlooked but I love working with them. Romantic, blousy and robust they're a perfect late summer/autumn addition to any flower recipe.

These were picked locally over 2 weeks ago now and you can see how they're still going strong. No pesticides, no chemicals, just a little trim every now and then and fresh water ❤️

Also my phone camera fully seems on the way out so looks like it'll be new phone time soon, ungfh

Another day, another wreath!

I love the fireyness of this one and the amaranth ever so slightly reminds me of tentacles here 🐙

Everything foraged (including the chicken feathers - Gus Gus donated these during her moult) with some additions of locally grown nigella seed pods and the amaranth.

Do you love it or hate it?

All autumn wreath workshops will be live in next few days and I'll share the links as soon as they're ready ❤️ PS you don't have to make an octopus wreath but the option is there if you want to!

A few people can attest to the fact that I’ve been dying to work with a lemony yellow palette for a while now after spying some beauties at

Well, look how amazingly this manifested working with a beautiful set of suppliers and in a stunning new wedding venue!

Choosing a yellow theme doesn’t mean turning everything into Big Bird from Sesame Street, instead consider how little pops of an accent colour can elevate an otherwise neutral look. This flower recipe was all British grown and features dahlias, cosmos, salvia, snapdragons, nicotiana and even a little bit of borage for that hint of blue.

Love it or hate it? However you feel about yellow if you’re a newly engaged couple I’d urge you to check out for a corker of a wedding venue.

Out on our dog walk earlier I came across an oak branch that had snapped in the recent gales.

Inspired by it sent me on a spiral of foraging and I came home and made this 100% foraged and natural wreath.

My rules were I could only take things that had either fell, naturally dropped or become the victim of a recent hedge cutting. I'm quite pleased with the result 💚

It's also ignited all the autumnal ideas that I'd put to bed last year and so I'll be launching my autumn and Christmas wreaths this year very shortly.

Hands up who'd like a workshop dedicated to foraged wreathery?

A little bit obsessed with these photos 🧡❤️ really does capture the details so beautifully.

I always think "this is my favourite bouquet" and then another one comes and takes top spot. The truth is I love all the florals I create - whether that's bright pops of pink and orange, romantic nudey blushs, whimsical wildflowers or timeless whites and greens. The joy really is in working with all the unique and individual flowers.

My florals will always use British flowers first and foremost and for this set-up all flowers are locally grown with blooms from

Little bit of news so here's a golden hour photo of me and Gus Gus to get your attention (hopefully!)

September is looking to be a crazy busy month for me with real weddings, some fun and quirky shoots with talented people, and a showcase or two to boot.

Being so busy I thought “Why not add something else into the mix too?” and decided to take the plunge and do something I’ve been thinking about for a while now.

When I set-up my business earlier in the year, I found it really hard to say ‘no’ to people and FOX/LAVENDER ended up becoming something I’d never quite intended.

Whereas my passion is in events – thinking outside the box and coming up with fun, creative solutions – I quickly found myself tied to my computer and sorting everyday bouquets and bunches. Don’t get me wrong; I loved creating these and seeing the joy they brought to each person but the reality of the day-to-day wasn’t good for my mental health nor my bank balance.

I’m now back in my happy place, meeting lots of lovely people and coming up with sustainable and unique solutions for weddings, events and workshops. I wanted to capture this ‘return to me’ with a little bit of a re-brand and hence why you may have noticed the change of name.

Wild by Nature captures my passion for working with local growers seasonally, but it also throws a little nod to my personality – that will never change.

What do you think of the new brand? I’d love to hear your thoughts

COLOUR

I think when people imagine using British flowers and working seasonally there's a tendency to imagine very garden-esque and countryside palettes. In reality, the world is your oyster and you can create some amazing alternative designs working completely sustainably. Although an often bare-footed and lover of the outdoors, you might be surprised to hear that I actually love Barbie pink and whimsical woodland palettes in equal measure.

For me, my passion is instead in untamed designs and working with Mother Nature herself - embracing and working with what is in season, the natural lines and flows of the flowers themselves versus what 'should' look good according to a formula.

The flowers here were all British using a mixture of fresh blooms from local growers as well as some dried flowers from the year before painted using eco-friendly paint - meaning they can be used again too.

Tablescapes: whether that's for weddings, dinner parties or a special occasion let some beautiful flowers take centre stage to really set the scene.

Using different length stems and beautiful frothy varieties you can have that drama and height without obscuring your guests from one another.

I loved creating this, the blush and white tones combined with the elegance of the glassware and romance of the candles. It helps the venue was also so beautiful too!

PHLOX

Today's 'flower in focus' isn't one that gets talked about much as the bigger focal flowers such as roses, peonies and hydrangeas but I have to say they're one of my absolute favourites at the moment. This variety in particular can make a neutral colour palette reallly sing and come to life (check out the bouquet from a few posts ago to see what I mean) 💚

There are a myriad of Phlox varieties and you've probably seen the typical purple, pink and white in containers perhaps. This particular variety is the perfect mix of coffee, raspberry and cream and lasts amazing well in a vase - I've still got some going strong a good 10 days in. The ones I use are all grown locally too so zero air miles and maybe about 5 car miles (which is an electric car too!)

They are originally wild flowers from North America with the earliest cultivated phlox sent to Europe from Virginia in the early 18th century.

If you're getting married in the summer months and choose to go for a lovely mix of in-season local flowers made by yours truly, chances are that they'll include some of these 💕

PEONY

Thought I'd catch this all-time favourite before she leaves the season and we meet again next May time. They're one of the most requested flowers for weddings and you can see why! With reports dating back to 1000BC in the gardens of China they've been used for millennia in the Eastern world for their medicinal properties. Not just a pretty face, eh!

The majority of peonies you see are the herbaceous kind - they die back and then rise again next Spring but there are also tree peonies and hybrids known as intersectional or 'itoh' peonies.

In Greek mythology, Paeon was the physician to the gods who angered his teacher Asclepius (the god of medicine and healing) after he extracted a milky liquid from the root of a peony that cured Pluto. Asclepius threatened to kill Paeon out of jealousy because he was outsmarting his teacher but Zeus saved him by turning him into a beautiful flower, the peony.

I've got about 30 peony plants in my garden just for my own enjoyment but these have to be a few of my favourites:
1. Karl Rosenfield peony - a beautiful one for colourful bouquets
2. Homegrown herbaceous 'Coral Charm'
3. Homegrown itoh 'Cora Louise'
4. Homegrown tree peony 'Shimane Sedai' (I think anyway - it was a twig about 12 inches high for 2 years and then suddenly grew and bloomed!)

Which is your favourite peony variety? 💚

06/07/2023

Hello lovely people! It feels like an absolute age since my last post but for the first time in a long while I’ve actually been taking some time for me (and finally having that little break I so needed after quitting my job in advertising and events last year).

I’ve still been meeting wedding couples and doing flowery stuff in the background, but I’ve also been spending a lot more time in nature and really listening to my mind, body and spirit and just well, breathing. Social media is tough and sometimes it’s good to step away and reconsider what’s really important.

In terms of where I’m headed, my heart has and always will lie in the outdoors and so that will still remain a big theme for me. I’ve found such solace in really connecting more meaningfully with the world around me and so I want to see how I can bring even more of that side into what I do.

No big announcements or business overhauls for now, just a more refreshed me - so if you’re planning an event that really celebrates nature (be that an elopement, an outdoor wedding or one that brings the outdoors inside, a birthday or anniversary party or a farewell ceremony) then I’d love to see how I can help.

This ‘secret garden’ set-up from back in June is exactly the kind of stuff that makes my heart sing and it was a joy to work with such talented suppliers so more of this please 🙏

ORLAYA

Not a flower that everyone is familiar with but a fantastic one to include from May through to the summer months. Full name Orlaya grandiflora, it's amazingly light and airy meaning it looks fantastic in bouquets giving them that lil’ bounce and bob. Not being a solid flower, it also means it can be used in low table arrangements without blocking guests from each other, whilst still adding some height.

It's one of my absolute favourites as it’s so versatile and I love the delicacy of it almost like a grown up cow parsley or ammi majus (which are both still very beautiful!)

If you’re getting married and looking for a florist for your wedding I’d love to chat to you about all the in-season flowers that are available – they might not have been ones you’d considered before but might just be the cherry on top for your wedding dream.

A touch of vintage.

This early May wedding theme so reminded me of my grandmother’s collection of vintage cups & saucers and its where I drew a lot of inspiration for these flowers. Despite roses often featuring heavily I wanted to keep this truly seasonal, instead working with local growers and what was in my own garden at the time.

This bouquet was created from a glorious recipe of British-grown double tulips, ranunculus, stocks, aquilegia, sweet peas, eucalyptus and virburnum opulus roseum.

Are you recently engaged or planning an event? I’d love to hear from you 💚
