1 WEEK TO GO!

There is only one more week until Gloucester Goes Retro fills the city streets! One of the highlights of the city’s vibrant festival calendar, Gloucester Goes Retro features over 500 classic vehicles filling the historic Gate Streets and Gloucester Docks. You will also find Vintage fashion and retro music, all in one fabulous FREE family day out!

There will lots of fantastic live music happening throughout the city during Gloucester Goes Retro!

The Mariners Square Stage will be host to retro bands and dance sessions. In the Kings Square Revival Zone you will find a 45's disco where Little Ian will be spinning his soulful sounds to create vibe and ambience in the square. https://www.gloucestergoesretro.uk/live-music

While at Gloucester Goes Retro, why not try a canoe paddling session with the National Waterways Museum?

Have fun on the water in the heart of Gloucester with a guided paddling session led by their qualified instructors. All equipment is provided but please bring a bottle of water and wear suitable clothing. There are toilets on site as well as a café.

Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the session begins. These sessions are designed for adults and for children from seven years old upwards. All children must have persmission from a responsible adult, who must be present. Children under 16 must be accompanied on the water.

This year at Gloucester Goes Retro Kings Square will be home to the Revival Zone!

Celebrating all things Vintage and Revival, Kings Square will be hosting vintage clothes and antique stalls, a Motown funk-loving disco and a 7hr Scalextric competition hosted by The Commentators.

The Gate Streets at Gloucester Goes Retro are the heart of your journey through a 100 years of vintage motoring, from the birth of the combustion engine through the glamour of 50s chrome, to the classic designs of the swinging 60s, groovy 70s, futuristic 80s and beyond.

There's also the Restoration Village at the Folk of Gloucester, street performers, fabulous cafes and pubs, and much more!

This year Gloucester Goes Retro is the host of two competitions that you can take part in - The Colin Organ Photography Competition and The Best Dressed Competition!

The Best Dress Competition:
We love to dress up at Gloucester Goes Retro and we are encouraging everyone to wear their best retro and vintage gear! There will be prizes for Best Dress Man, Women, Child, and Group!

Local businesses can also get involved with the Best Dressed Shop Window and Best Dressed Team competitions!

The Colin Organ Photography Competition:
In honour of the late great Cllr Colin Organ, the founder of festival, we are running the Gloucester Goes Retro Photo Competition. With so many wonderful cars, pieces of vintage fashion and amazing performers around, this festival is a great place to take amazing photos.

While at Gloucester Goes Retro, walk down to The Folk of Gloucester to visit their Restoration Village!

Working with partners from Retroclassic Engineering, the Folk will be shining a light on restoring cars, from advising about paint techniques to seeing some work in progress.

There will be freshly restored cars parked on Westgate Street opposite Shire Hall and the opportunity to ride around Westgate in a classic car for a donation.

There will also be FREE children's activities taking place in The Folk, suitable for all the family and their Folk Cafe will be offering a Retro themed menu.

Iconic 124 year old schooner, Kathleen & May, the last British built wooden hull, three masted top-sail schooner left afloat in the world is open to the public during Gloucester Goes Retro!

Step aboard for self-guided tours with storyboards on the top deck, take a seat in the Captain's Cabin and imagine life at sea, try out the Crew Bunks for size, step into the cargo hold, browse through her cargo records and listen to her stories of past, present and plans for her future. Throughout your visit, kids can roam the decks, try out the ship's wheel and solve the clues to find the treasure!

This photo competition was set up in honour of Cllr Colin Organ, the founder of Gloucester Goes Retro, who sadly passed away earlier this year. We had over 100 incredible entries sent in to us via email/Instagram which we narrowed down to six potential winners! Those six photos were sent to Colin Organ's Family for judging, and this photo was the one that caught their eye.
