The town is looking lovely at the moment in the sunshine with all the displays for Daffodil Day which was on the 29th March.

It wasn't quite so lovely in April 1950, when the town came together to lay daffodils round the Wordsworth fountain to commemorate 100 years of Wordsworth's death on 23 April 1850.

The fountain was in Harris Park until 2000 when the statue was stolen. It was recovered in 2001 and relocated outside Wordsworth House in 2004.

It's Cockermouth Chat again this week. Join us on Thursday from 1pm - 3pm to share memories and see items from the Cockermouth Heritage Collection. This month we will be talking all things transport - cars, trains, boats, bikes and more...

*Change of Venue* We will be meeting at the Friend's Meeting House at the top of Kirkgate again this month. We'll be back at the Kirkgate Centre in May.

Free and open to all, you don't have to be 'local' to join in.

Block Printing Family Workshop!

Join Emily and Jack from Market Place Print Studio for a vibrant, family-friendly workshop exploring the playful technique of Block Printing.

You’ll use their hand carved stamps and learn how to ink them up for a crisp, punchy print! And you can also bring your own items to print on to!

Using pre-cut pieces of glass, glass rods and crushed glass you will design and produce your choice of either a dish or wall hanging. Roxanne Denny of RD Glass will be on hand to assist and teach you about how fused glass is made.

We're edging ever closer to our major capital works being completed, thank you to all our customers for your patience while this has been going on.

We're pleased that despite all the upheaval we have still managed to host over 20 live events at the centre, plus a number of workshops, courses, and all the regular hires that we are home to every week.

Sadly we have had to cancel our planned NTLive screening of The Importance of Being Earnest this weekend, some of the works are still going on in our projection room and we are unable to safely set up our cinema equipment in time.

All customers who have booked have been contacted (check your email if you had booked seats) and we wanted to make sure nobody misses the chance to see the performance so get yourself along to Keswick Alhambra Cinema on Wednesday 26th. They are screening this show at 1pm.
