DJ SPOTLIGHT #8 - DJ Competition Winner - MARV HAINES

I fell in love with House music in 1986 at the age of 12 after hearing the first Chicago House tracks. When I was old enough I started going to raves in 1990-91 and then got the Dj bug and started playing at local raves around Lincolnshire in 1992 playing Hardcore, Techno, Breakbeat. I also played House, Progressive House and Trance at House nights around the same time at events/parties in Lincolnshire. By the mid 90’s I was playing House, Progressive House and Trance and added Tech House to my sets by the late 90’s. I have warmed up for Djs such as Tony De Vit, Pete Wardman, Alister Whitehead, Luvdup, Ian Ossia, Rachel Auburn, Junior Perez to name a few, playing at club nights around Lincolnshire such as the Pleasuredome in Skegness, VIP @ Sugarcubes, Lincoln, Tangerine @ the Corn Exchange and Future Funk @ the Eclipse nightclubs in Boston, Inferno Nightclub in Sleaford along with various other clubs/bars, events and parties around the county including a couple of gigs down in London playing at after parties for artist’s exhibitions for the Tate Modern gallery. I stopped Djing in 2008 to concentrate on my family, but I never lost my love for house music. I started DJing again in 2023 putting on classic dance events called Not Forgotten to raise money for charities for issues that had affected my family and I also Dj regularly at a night called Future Funk in Bar Eleven in Woodhall Spa playing Nu Disco (which I have had a passion for since 2009 after seeing Aeroplane play at Creamfields) along with Deep, Soulful, Funky, Jackin, and Uplifting House. I also play classic House from the 80’s, 90’s & 00’s through to 90’s & 00’s Progressive/Trance & Tech House, Old School Rave 90-92 and chilled bar beats, including vinyl only nights. I’m also a partner in Future Funk Sounds sound system that is hired out to play the above genres at various parties and events.
