The Boma at Pentre Mawr
As many of our guests will know that we are lucky enough to have a home in South Africa. And so we built our African Safari lodges in a similar style to the ones we saw on game farms in SA. While the traditional Boma was built as an area to corral cattle, many safari lodges in Africa now offer open-air boma dining areas as a way for visitors to get a taste of African culture. After a day in the bush, it's a wonderful way to gather around a fire and exchange the wildest stories of the wildlife sightings you've had on your game drive. Sadly we can't offer game drives though there will be sightings of mini Shetlands but we decided it would be great to have an area where our guests could socialise. So we've built a covered area with a fire pit and a Braai ( African BBQ). So if you don't feel like heading out, head to the boma, cook your dinner on wood(we'll supply plenty) and share a beer with new friends.

Everyone these days knows what glamping is all about but here at Pentre Mawr we take it to another level. Our six genuine safari lodges are the perfect option for an adventurous, but very comfy and luxurious getaway. 🍃

The sound of our little mini Shetlands wandering outside the lodges will make you imagine there are lions patrolling the area and an early call of the fox could be a hyena in the distance...

Wow, I can’t even begin to explain how incredible Pentre Mawr Country House was for our wedding last week. From start to finish we were overwhelmed with the kindness and organisation from the team. Bre, Graham, Nina and the rest of the gang went above and beyond to ensure our day was as special as it could be. And we had the best weekend of our lives and wouldn’t change a thing.
It also helps that every aspect of the venue is absolutely beautiful and carries its own charm!
We were able to have our dogs with us throughout the whole weekend which just added to the whole experience.
We wish we could rewind the clock and do it all over again!
Bre and Graham are very experienced in the hospitality industry and it definitely shows - no request is too much.
We would recommend this venue to everyone, it’s not just one day at Pentre Mawr, it’s a whole weekend and a lifetime of amazing memories.

I can't recommend Pentre Mawr enough!
If you are looking for the perfect wedding venue then honestly look no further.

There are multiple things that really appealed to us about the venue and I will try to explain these a little bit below:
- Its absolutely beautiful! Set in the Welsh hills, its surrounded by stunning countryside and before the party starts all you can hear is birdsong.
- We were given absolute freedom to make the day our own, and have anything that was important to us. For us, it was really important that our dogs could come with us for the weekend, and they were even able to come down the aisle (thank goodness they behaved!) We also had total freedom to choose any supplier we desired with no extra cost. This allows you to make sure everything is just how you want.
- We booked our wedding in the height of covid but I have to say, we always felt extremely secure that the wonderful team of Bre and Graham would look after us and guide us through whatever the world chose to throw at us.
- The full wedding weekend allows your nearest and dearest to come and settle in on the Friday night. This really means on the Saturday that you can relax and enjoy the day, safe in the knowledge everyone is rested from travelling and are ready for the fun to really start.

Really and truly we had the best day of our lives and can't thank these amazing people enough for their part in it.
