It wasn't long ago that our herb seeds were planted. Students @ Spa Academy Askern, Moss Rd and Littlemoor and been dutifully tending to the seedings making sure they are well watered and fed. They are really beginning to grow and it won't be long until we get to use them in our lunches!

Soft shell tacos today Spa Academy Askern, Littlemoor and Moss Rd. Tacos were requested at the last student council meeting. Crammed full of beans, lentils and vegetables and so tasty. Served with mixed rice, sour cream and cheddar cheese. And we even made salsa from some overripe tomatoes. One student ate early and he gave it a big 👍up!

Sarah and Tracy made over 300 of these little beauties this morning for Spa Academy Askern, Littlemoor and Moss Rd! Fresh sausage meat and minced pork shoulder from Pickerings Of Pontefract mixed with hidden vegetables and slow cooked onions. And they taste as good as they look, served with seasoned potato wedges, coleslaw and a little green bean and tomato salad.

Mid week roast dinner @ Campsmount Academy. Roast Yorkshire pork and crackling, homemade apple sauce and stuffing. Served with honey roast carrots and parsnips, steamed new potatoes and broccoli.
The vegetarian option was Singapore noodles with crispy quorn and sweet chilli sauce.

It was Fried Chicken Friday Campsmount Academy, served with buttermilk mashed potato, gravy, corn and homemade baked beans. We also made burgers and quorn "corn dogs" and a couple of colourful healthy salads alongside. Dessert was NY baked cheescake with blueberry compote, whole wheat beetroot brownies and mini Boston cream pies. Nikki and her team worked hard to make lunch a success and we think everyone enjoyed!

Veg Power's award winning Eat them to Defeat Them Campaign starts today!

80% of children are not eating enough vegetables, with a third eating less than one portion a day. Veg Power's mission is to inspire kids to love vegetables and to share that joy with their parents today and their own children tomorrow.

Tracy did an amazing Job making almost 300 of these little beauties for Pancake Day! Soft fluffy whole wheat pancakes served with red fruit compote and whipped vanilla cream. Everyone at Spa Academy Askern, Littlemoor and Moss Road enjoyed. Littlemoor loved the red fruit topping.

Sarah's Crispy Chicken Katsu is a firm favourite at Spa Academy Askern, Littlemoor and Moss Road. Fresh chicken from Pickerings Of Pontefract butchers, breaded and baked in the oven and served with our very own katsu sauce, loaded with hidden veg and apples. Served alongside whole grain rice with lentils and quinoa, steamed green beans and a shredded vegetable salad seasoned with fresh grated ginger, apple vinegar and honey.

Students Spa Academy Askern, Littlemoor and Moss Road will also be growing their own herbs this year,
We've decided to grow mint, basil, chives, coriander and thyme as these are some of the herbs we use in our lunch menus
What better way for students to learn, than to grow and then eat what they've grown.

Guess what.......they've been picked to take part in this years Veg Power "Growing to Love Programme" where students will grow their own tomatoes!

80% of children are not eating enough vegetables, with a third eating less than one portion a day. Perhaps the most alarming statistic is that 50% of parents say they have given up trying. Veg Power's mission is to inspire kids to veggie loving habits they will share with their parents today and their own children tomorrow.

Sarah's curry came out great yesterday at Spa Academy Askern, Littlemoor and Moss Rd. Served alongside whole grain rice with quinoa, buckwheat and lentils, all of which are an excellent source of dietary fibre, protein, vitamins and minerals. Tracy and Sarah tested out the home made ice cream @ Spa Academy Askern on Valentines which, which went down a treat. They also had pots of strawberry mousse with red berry compote and dark chocolate mousse with blueberry compote which were served with little heart shaped butter cookies.
