WEDDING DRESS ALTERATIONS!! And how I did this one.
Sometimes when you are buying your beautiful dress you may have to pay the wedding shop or a dressmaker to alter it for you. Alterations can sometimes be testing and timely, they are not all a quick fix, please bare that in mind as some sales assistants just want a sale .
So here’s a bit of inside information about what went into this one ###
The bodice was huge and pockets were thrown into the mix.
I carefully took the bodice off the skirt and put pins in to keep the pleats in place. I got inside the bodice and carefully unpicked each seam to reduce the bodice size by 2 dress sizes… it was a very difficult alteration and I have been sewing nearly 50 years.!!!! I then reduced the size of the waist ( the skirt ) to match the bodice ( keeping the pockets!) again very tricky.
I then put it back together ( praying it would fit like a jigsaw piece!! It did thank god!)
I added a small amount of net to sit just below the waist on the hips to give the dress a slight poufe.
I then shortened all the layers, made a bow in the same fabric as the dress…. ( I sent a swatch to a bridal manufacturer) and they matched it perfectly. And then I removed the duchess satin covered buttons from the bodice and replaced them with pearl buttons which continued down the centre back of the dress to the end of the train ( 160 buttons in total).
So a good few hours went into this dress Lotte had a few fittings and when she Tried it on for the final time words cannot express her emotions.

Her smile was worth every single stitch.

The clock on the hat works lol. I noticed today when I was blinging it. I put a pink handle on the hat to represent a tea cup. Hope you all love this mad hatters costume as much as I do ### thank you for looking ###❤️

Big announcement… well what an interesting year this is turning out to be!!!
I have been asked to be the Uk manufacturer for these stunning dresses and possibly ( only possibly! The European manufacturer) … let’s see how it pans out. And yes they are all lit up ! Not bad for slap happy 🤣 sooooo exciting

Well it’s been a busy weekend. I have made one of my spare bedrooms into a stock room. I was finding it to crowded in my sewing room.
I have a marketing team getting my website ready for complete SEO so I need to be ready.
Please see pics of my hard work, my sewing room is much more organised giving me room to move,my fitting room is now empty again and my new stockroom is nearly ready. Just a few more adaptations and that will be completed ( honestly… so pleased) ###

Ooh update on ‘ high wire’ this is the film that I made an ice skating costume for…. Filming has finished and the editing, music, and the visual effects for the double stunts are all underway…. So still a lot of work to be done but I’m getting nearer to being able to share the costume and how I made it and more than anything see it in action on the Tv!!! ( so proud!) ❤️❤️❤️

Don’t know if I should put this on or not tbh. But it’s on my mind so thought I would share. I have been sewing since I was 8 ( I’m 57).Due to the lack of costume makers and the big mountain of costumes I was making I decided to share the skill of costume making and try to help people save money on expensive costumes and also give women a choice to change careers ( if they so wished) so never in my wildest dreams did I expect to hear from someone that I had been accused of being a ‘slap happy’ sewer….
The photo is to show that I’m currently sat in my garden ‘slap happy’ sewing someone’s wedding dress!

Ps I’m currently taking orders for ‘slap happy’ costumes for November now ❤️ so if anyone would like one please get in touch. I have made myself smile having written this post , I feel much better. Sometimes writing what’s in your head is off loading lots of love
