“Sorry long read” 💕🦄🌈🫶🏻So I know we have been super quiet regarding Teddy but tbh I had certainly taken on more then expected he was to be quite honest absolutely petrified of everyone and everything we couldnt even stable him because he was jumping out of the stable door in fear (something i have never seen happen) 🫶🏻💕🦄🌈We decided it was best we just turn him out for a month to basically chill and get used to everone and everything around the yard whilst any interaction he had was encouraged by food and treats.We then slowly started to bring him in at first we had to let him come down by himself as we had absolutely no chance of catching him as we couldn’t get anywhere near him, eventually however he realised his stable was a safe place with lots of treats so he used to come down and put himself to bed. This in return let us do work in a small space and eventually we could get a headcollar on and off without him spinning and turning his bum. We were starting to gain his trust 🫶🏻💕🌈🦄We then decided to start bringing him in on a night and turnout in the small winter paddock on a day, this was a gamechanger we realised he loved routine and he would wait by the gate on a night to come in and in a morning knew after work he could go out for some down time. We finally had him walking by my side to do this instead of me either dragging him out 2 meters behind or him shooting off forward in fear 🙌🏻We then decided to mouth him which tbh he took to like a duck to water and now has a lovely soft mouth just like Taggy, and start lunging and long reining and again hes been super easy we use two lines constantly as this has really helped to desensitise him whilst encouraging him to go forward. This week we have started introducing him to traffic on the main road, Im spending around 30 minutes a day just asking him to stand by the road and its really paying off we have had issues with him on the yard because hes not confide
