It is a great honour to be asked by two different families to mark the anniversary of the loss of the HMS UNTAMED by placing flowers on the graves of Lt. Gordon Noll and Able Seaman Peter Bothams. The submarine was on a training exercise in the Firth of Clyde when she tragically sank with the loss of 36 men on 30th May 1943, all laid to rest in Dunoon Cemetery

The widow of Lt. Noll asked us to share the following.

“These lovely flowers commemorate my dear husband Gordon Noll and his crew on HMS Untamed, lost with all hands during a training exercise in the Clyde on 30th May 1943. Thirty six men, mainly still in their twenties, dear to their family and friends, lost before their time in service to the country, still remembered and missed.

I was just twenty two when Gordon died and am now nearly 103. I have asked my daughter to say how much it means to me that Untamed and her crew are still remembered in Dunoon, both by local people and by the Scottish Submariners Association in their annual commemorative weekend for Untamed and her sister submarine Vandal, also lost with all hands earlier in 1943”.

And from the sister and family of Able Seaman Bothams we were asked to create a wild and rustic bouquet of flowers which were today left where he rests. His sister wrote the following note,

“For my beloved brother, Peter.
In loving memory from your little sister Anne and all the Bothams family. Xx

We are so delighted that we will be able to connect these two families now which we hope will be of some comfort to each other.

💐Wedding season is in full swing, and we have been busy creating some beautiful flowers for them.

🎄Good evening from the woodland florist🎄

Our final wreath class is taking place tomorrow Saturday 9 December 2pm in the Scout Hall, George St, Hunter's Quay. Still some places available, just call us on 07730898210 we'd be delighted to see you.

So lovely to be working with some gorgeous deep colours and berries this week clearly signaling the festive season ahead.

We took delivery of some hyacinth, narcissus and amaryllis bulbs which make superb gifts or just treat yourself.

🎄 Good evening from the Woodland Florist 🎄
We are busy getting organised for Christmas with new stock arriving every couple of days. We will have our Christmas webshop up and running next week, where you will find lots of gift ideas🎁

We have our Christmas wreath workshop organised for 2pm Sat 9th Dec where we will be offering both moss based wreaths and oasis wreaths which can be decorated with a range of natural or blingy materials that will be provided. We'll also be offering a glass of something sparkling (with alternatives) and nibbles and we'll have plenty of help on hand should you need it. Booking can made by popping into the shop or next week via the web shop.

With the end of term not far away we’ve put together some gifts and goodies ideal for saying ‘thanks’ to all the hard working teachers and school staff.

We love potted plants here at the woodland florist and at the moment we have lots of lovely indoor and outdoor plants available in the shop.

Most can be purchased alone or with the addition of a decorative pot ready to give as a gift or keep as an addition to your home, work desk or outdoor space 🌿🌱

The sun in shining and we had a very important visitor to the shop!
Our flower inspector gave the buzz of approval to this cottage garden inspired piece, we’re glad she didn’t leave with a sting in the tail! 🐝🌸☀️

With the first day of the month we thought we’d bring a special offer ideal for treating yourself or a loved one!

For the whole of June we will have two offers available 🙌🏼
- First is our beautiful mini orchids or succulents paired with oban chocolates for a discounted price of £25.
- We will be offering our mini flower vases again with Oban chocolates now at £20.

Both options make for a great pick me up, a centre piece for a special dinner table or even just to brighten up a work space (plus the chocolates are delicious too!)

We’ve also been enjoying arranging our new lights around the shop, and we’re especially loving our lantern selection which are all solar powered, ideal for inside or even in the garden at this time of year ☀️

This week we’ve been busy with prep for not one but two weddings this weekend, but the shop ticks on as usual and we’ve been sending out bouquets and gifts all week to our lovely customers from near and far.

Whilst we aren’t able to share images yet of our bridal bouquets or grooms buttonholes we are able to share some snaps of what we’ve been up to during the week, including some hand tied bouquets, individual picks from the market, and some in shop goodies like our potted succulents.

We’re really enjoying working with some different flowers in creations and bringing some more summery tones and foliage into our arrangements.

Here at the woodland florist we are making the most of the very short peony season by creating mini bunches, featuring peonies and simple foliage all wrapped and ready to go.

These are available in the shop now at £18 while available from the flower market.

Peony’s will also feature in our florist choice bouquets, along with some of these other beautiful blooms! 😍🌿💐

We at the Woodland Florist are taking the chance to have a little break ourselves, and the shop will be closed until 10am on Tuesday 16th May.
