Seil Scarecrow Festival 2024

The Scarecrow Committee is delighted to announce that the 2024 Scarecrow Festival made a total of £7,700!

We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed to that sum, and confirm that 10% will go to the North Argyll Volunteer Car Scheme, and the remainder to Seil Hall.

What a generous community we live in! Thank you all.

Seamus the Scarecrow has had time to dry off and settle down for a dry indoors winter with his companions. With time on his hands and paperwork caught up on, he sent the following .....

"Our Scarecrow Committee Lead , Maggie Thorpe, received the following from an island participant in the festival ......."
....'Thanks Maggie,
I think the festival was a huge success, mainly down to the work you and the other volunteers put in.
The standard of food at the cafe was exceptional this year and really the whole island should be thanking you.....'.

"Well......, comments, like that, make all the work of the Scarecrow Committee and Event Leads and their invaluable helpers worthwhile. I hope you had a brilliant time. We've had lots of comments about the friendly community atmosphere, enjoyed by visitors and residents alike.

Thank you all for coming along and taking part in events and making the week the success it's been"

It's hard to believe it's almost two weeks since Argyll Ceilidh Trail - Ceol mun cuairt made it by the skin of their teeth to Seil for our Scarecrow Festival Ceilidh.

This wee video is an insight into the travel challenges the band faced and just how resourceful and determined they were to make it over to perform to us!

We cannot thank them enough for getting to Seil.

Thank you to everyone who supported the RNLI stand at the Seil Scarecrow Fair.

They made an phenomenal £600!

What an amazing community we are part of - we should feel very proud.

We must also thank the amazing Ron Hetherington, Jack and Debbie McCart who made our Scarecrow Trailu work this year.

Collecting entries, working out the ordering and numbering, accepting last minute entries and readjusting everything...and then under taking the mammoth task of photographing all 70 scarecrows and designing the quiz...it wouldn't have happened without you guys so a HUGE thank you from us all.

We've made a complete gallery of all the scarecrows in this year's trail to relieve the fun!

🏃‍♀️ Our Scarecrow Scamper Hill run had 30 entries this year. Thanks everyone who took part and a thank you to Easdale Medical Practice for your sponsorship.
