I took on a weeks work experience with the local florist in my home town in Southern Ireland. After learning some of the skills involved I was offered a Saturday job and full time summer work. Being a creative soul I absolutely loved working with the freedom of flowers to create something so natural and beautiful that made our clients smile. It was so rewarding in every sense. But being 18 and gro

wing up on a farm, as wonderful as it was I was eager to travel and experience city life, other countries and cultures. I studied Interior design for 2 years and since then I have a had a varied career working for some amazing companies. I started off with Hospitality and Events management for Harvey Nichols in Dublin where I met a handsome Scottish Boy who brought me to Edinburgh. Since then I have worked for some very creative luxury companies such as Hamilton & Inches, Hermès, Stephen Webster Jewellery London and Oka Interiors. My passion for floristry has always been with me and after a year of rediscovering this passion I started my own little company, Feather Grass Florals. Designing everyday and having the chance to work with amazing clients has been at the core of what I do.

Love can take us on all sorts of journeys and I now call that handsome Scottish boy my husband and father of our 2 gorgeous girls.

I don’t know about you but I think we are very lucky to have Autumn as a season and Scotlands landscape certainly delivers on all its beauty at this time of year.

~ Jen & Derri ~

The most loveliest and stylish couple that I am also very grateful to know. I met Jen & Derri at a mutual friend’s party a few years ago and I just knew they were meant to be 🥰. I may also have said to Jen after a few glasses of fizz “please let me create your wedding flowers when you get married” ☺️.

They got married at one of my favourite venues last September. We created a beautiful almost arch for their Ceremony, a large hanging installation took centre stage over the tables in the reception area and tables were filled with bud vases and tapered candles.
It really was a honour to create your wedding flowers, thank you so much Jen & Derri 🫶🏼🧡.

Happy Wednesday All!

Some more detailed pics of Charlottes bouquet and Bertie’s Buttonhole. I love how they compliment each other and the addition of the beautiful silk ribbon on both just adds that touch of luxury and softness.

My girls were back to school yesterday after their mid term break so I’m catching up on all things floral this week.

Bouquets from every angle 📸

Alice’s Bridal bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets were a joy to make. Filled with Junes finest flowers, mostly sourced from local growers. The scent from the sweet peas and garden roses were divine!
I’m actually going to try to grow some sweet peas this year for my own garden. I’ve got the seeds, just need to sow them! Wish me luck ☺️!

And just like that January 2024 is nearly done!

I am currently writing this from my bed as my body is telling me I need an early night.
January for me is a time to physically slow down which allows me more time to catch up on admin, plan for the year ahead, chat with all you lovely couples that have enquired about your upcoming weddings, create your quotes and Mood boards and also taking time to reflect on my business.

I am a big believer in self growth and particularly love a long van journey so I can devour a development audiobook or podcast to feed my mind. I always come away with valuable nuggets of information, perspective and most of all an invigorated mindset.

Over the last few years I’ve worked on some amazing weddings, events and projects. Building up my skill set has been at the forefront of everything I do and with every job I do I will always come away with some new learnings and experience. There is always challenges along the way but with that comes growth.
I probably don’t share enough on here about my practices and this is something I will do going forward.

I have lots of lovely weddings to share with you that will hopefully inspire you in your planning journey.

It was so lovely to be back at the gorgeous Broxmouth Courtyard on Monday. The spaces are beautiful and the perfect backdrop for getting creative with flowers. We created naturally styled meadow flower arrangements either side of the arched window to frame Stephanie & Ella for their Ceremony. Their bouquets were filled with gorgeous scented roses, sweet peas, stock, achillea, phlox, etc, and alliums which represented someone very special 🧡. Stephanie & Ella, thank you so much for having us be part of your special day. It was so lovely getting to know you both and creating your wedding flowers. 🥂

A little behind the scenes from Helena & Jesse’s beautiful May wedding. Their Ceremony was in the gorgeous Walled Garden @colstoun which was bursting with fruit trees and blooms. We dressed the aisle with florals and created a focal ceremony backdrop with a broken arch feature. The reception tables were dressed with pedestal bowls full of blooms, @esteranderik candles in a white ash colour and a long low top table feature arrangement. A massive thanks to my amazing team of flower queens @bethanylindseyflorals @studio_seapink @kdownie27 May was a bit of a whirlwind with weddings & events so catching up on all enquiries and my to do list this week! Send some coffee please 😉
