Convo.project - great question from the Ending and Beginning Pack Today.

What defined the last year for me?

That is easy - change.

From 20 plus years in Investment Operations, to redundancy, to stay home dad with three young boys, to starting my own fitness and photography businesses.

It's been quite a year!!!!

Oh yes and I am still ruminating over the questions I pulled out at the weekend at Cockenzie House & Gardens - great to meet you. What an awesome project you have started!!!!

We've just done a reprint of our conversation cards and you now get 75 cards instead of 50! They're perfect for secret Santa, or as an interesting Christmas gift for family and friends. I'm excited to be the guest speaker on Sunday 3rd Dec. I'll be talking about my passion for creating meaningful networks and my interest in how we meet new people and form meaningful connections in our post-covid, digital world. On Wednesday we had a really fun afternoon with our conversation cards at Penicuik Storehouse community lunch. Conversations included one elderly diner sharing stories about how she used to be an expert shoe fitter - something we barely have any more! There was lots of laughter coming from the various tables and we received some really moving feedback. Next Sunday we'll be at Sunday Assembly: A Little Space for Big Conversations in . Convo.project is popping up Penicuik Storehouse community lunch on Wed 22nd Nov between 12.00-2.00pm. If you're in the area come and join us for a fireside chat (yes there's a real fire!) and meet your neighbours and other members of the local community. This weekly event offers three delicious courses all cooked with love that morning by an amazing team of volunteers. You can pay what you feel or if you're struggling to afford to eat out you can just come along and eat for free ❤️ We can't wait to see what connections are made and what conversations unfold!

We're very excited to be popping up at Earth in Common for their 10 year anniversary on Saturday. Convo.project cards will be ready and waiting for people who need a little space for some big, fun, inspiring conversatoins. We'll have an installation to gather feedback on the impact of the simple act of connecting with another human being through conversation. Hope to see you there!

It's clear .... people want to talk, and sometimes they need a little bit of help to meet others or to get to the depth of conversation they're craving with the people they already know (or think they know). Yesterday I took my little side hustle, The Conversation Project, out into a public space to see how people engage with the cards. It was so much fun and very exciting for me to see how excited people got about having a little door opened to deeper conversations. Some of the participants knew each other but some really brave people sat down with a stranger and allowed themselves to be really vulnerable. Thanks to The Art of Being Human Festival for giving me the opportunity to get the cards in front of people! If you run a public space or are hosting an event soon where you think this might work - get in touch! We're in an epidemic of isolation and lack of connection- it needs to end.

With the postal strikes causing chaos with deliveries, I've just posted my last lot of cards which I hope will get there in time for Christmas. Sold Out! Yes you heard it right - I can't believe that in less than a month; with nothing more than some social media, a great network of supporters and word of mouth, the first 50 sets of Convo.project cards have sold out! Don't dispair as I'm expecting more next week and will restock my online shop by Thurs 8th Dec - so still plenty of time to order before Christmas. I'm happy to hear that packages are reaching their new homes in a couple of days despite the postal strikes! Keep the feedback coming!

I'm getting so much energy from all the thoughtful feedback that's coming in about Convo.project cards - from people of all ages. Thanks for sharing your experience of using the cards to have a more meaningful conversation with your elderly parents who live hundreds of miles away 🥰 The cards are proving to be so versatile and adaptable and I have lots of ideas about how I want to develop them as a tool for connection and wellbeing in 2023. More amazing feedback from our customers. This totally resonates with me as I sometimes meet new people and feel really dissatisfied with the interactions we have - when I've been hoping for so much more. It was part of the reason for creating the game in the first place. Of course I love the idea but it's giving me a ton of extra confidence to hear that others think it's great too. Want to connect more with your teenagers but don't know how to get a good conversation going (I hear you!)? Convo.project is out in the world! Yesterday we held our first public event with members at The Melting Pot in . The sound of everyone chatting was brilliant and the feedback was insightful and really inspiring. This little tin of questions is proving to be a really powerful and versatile tool which can be used in lots of different environments. Our first run of cards is selling out fast so if you'd like a set, you'd best be quick.
