Day 3 …… Final Day [ Yesterday 23rd Oct ] [ Withdrawal symptoms yesterday hence a day late 😀

~ Make Up Artistry ( & Hair ) Workshop wt Guest & for the Students (/ Lecturers )

Thank you Day 3 …….. I’m not even gonna say byeee Day 3 …… noooooooo 😎 [ See you all in a bit 😀😀)

I started an hour earlier ….. as we had more models than we had each of the previous 2days

Once again Make up & Hair Studio brought their A game & more …..

We had models from Edinburgh Glasgow Fife Stirling Perth and so forth - We appreciate you all 🙏🏾

Ps : Oyin ( Model ) Here’s hoping Bus 8 were able to locate your belongings and return it to you ,

This workshop was put together for the Make up Artistry students ( Scotland ) ….. learning about how to Make up Black skin and also do Afro hair .

As for me I had a Funtastic time ….. There’s something about Portraiture photography, you get to know something or or two about the subject and vice versa ( in such a short space of time ) …. Be it by chatting , or you both have something in common , a quick 2 step dance (to break the ice - kill nerves if so inclined )

That exchange of energy - vibes …… that puts a smile on your face or warns the heart ….. and can last for days - Beautiful

I love the variety of models that we had - from those that had done it b/4 to those that have never done it … definitely brings an added type of lovely atmosphere.

Shout out to Jo & Kay ( PASS ) for looking after all of us and surprising ( insert image ) me with with that Thank Card & After Eight that came with the most beautiful words ( Joy Joyce Kay Jo )

Day 2
Make Up Artistry & Hair Workshop wt Guest & .

Forget all the technicalities, expertise, skills …. Well not forget - but that’s a given & exactly what was delivered by we all

What I wanna write about is the ENERGY LAUGHTER VIBES SMILES ….., The things that you can’t buy or package - Thats what today was all about .

With shoots - of more than one day , on the 2nd day what happens is the change in all that were involved from day 1 , you’re now even more familiar with your surroundings , with one & other , with the project in hand , you’re geared up to deliver and even more .

From the minute I arrived I could sense it ….. I could feel the buzz coming through from the make up artistry studio ( call time earlier than mine ) …. The smiles on everyone’s face , the flamboyancy from a few models that were a part of a day - Confidence which naturally was infectious to all and the new models of day 2

I had the privilege of having 5 different backgrounds all set up - you should have seen as I glided through from one to the other ……. Effortlessly, gleefully, expertly.

The Make up and hair today was simply off the scale ….
We also had two young brothers today - oh they made my day just as the models did in general .

The chats were great - belly full - soulfully
We all gave and received - Thankfully

Special shout out to the collective from Glasgow - wow you surely brought it . Big up to those that came from outta town - Fife , Perth , G Town and of course Edinburgh - We appreciate 🙌🏾

DAY 1

Edinburgh College :MAKEUP ARTISTRY & HAIR WORKSHOP

At the workshop today we had 16 Make up Artistry lecturers and about 18 models … with Guest Make up Artist & Hair stylist alongside Team lead Joanne .

With shoots of a high turn over of models … you get to interact with a variety of people , whom individually bring their own natural unique form of laughter , humour , stories , take to directions etc and so forth - I love it

Some of the “models “ have done shoots b/4 others are new to it , and how you direct - interact and understand each person - within that short space of time matters - to the models and yourself ( photographer) and of course the final Piece of work .

We used 3 different backgrounds for the shoot … Greyish black , Red and also a lovely blue & white African print attire ( Adire’) … why no ? 😀😜

I look forward to day 2 : 18 Make up Artistry & Hair Students and 40-44 models …. Oooofffttt!

A series of images shot for Sekai Machache .

New artistic portraits , promotional images for a summer filled with exhibitions , talks , festivals and
workshops, , chilled happy vibe and a colour palette along the lines of the Peacock and Hummingbird.

Sekai’s work is a deep interrogation of the notion of self. She is interested in the relationship between spirituality, imagination and the role of the artist in disseminating symbolic imagery to provide a space for healing. Sekai works with a wide range of media including photography. Her photographic practice is formulated through digital studio based compositions utilising body paint and muted lighting conditions to create images that appear to emerge from darkness.

She is the recipient of the RSA Morton Award and Talbot Rice Residency Programme / Edinburgh College Of Art ( ECA - The university of Edinburgh . She is also a Board Member at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.
